  1. Maybe we'll see a re-roll charges or Always Strike First conviction? "Red Nuns is fasta."
  2. The automatic hits (especially as a charge reaction) and ability to ignore cover are handy, but since most people will probably continue to use Seraphim as high mobility anti-heavy infantry and tank-hunters, letting the standard infantry Battle Sister Squads do the anti-infantry work, they probably won't see much use.
  3. They might up the range of Inferno Pistols too... 12" range with a 6" melta effect wouldn't be unreasonable.
  4. One is intended in good fun, one is intended to antagonize.
  5. You might want to look into getting some of the etched brass Chaos-y bitz like the ones Forge World used to sell (or from the many third-party sellers of similar kits). That will make it much easier to get Chaos Stars, spikey panel trim, and other Chaos gubbins.
  6. It's been a looong time since I worked with any ArmorCast products (and I never did get any of their Titans), but mold line, bent bits, and air holes were all a common part of their products. Miniature making technology has made some serious advancements during the 25-30 years since ArmorCast was producing licensed stuff for Games Workshop... and they were basically "garage casters" gone pro. As for conversions, I'd highly recommend you start by magnetizing the head and arms. There's all kinds of neat "knight bitz" you can find on Shapeways and Thingiverse that you might want to pick up in the future, so adding some magnets now will open up that possibility down the line. Aesthetically, I think an old school model like this deserves an old school paintjob, see if you can recreate that orange-red that GW used on everything back in the Second Edition era when this guy was new. Big bold colors, lots of clean black-lining, and checkerboard patterns... Gotta have the checkerboard patterns. But, its your toy robot. You do you.
  7. It’s the Warhammer universe. Skulls grow naturally out of the ground as well on any available flat surface, like a bare wall or a tree trunk. I think they’re actually some sort of lichen.

Shhh, now. No more Orktober, the grots have had too much squig sweeties and need their sleep. Now we must begin to complain about how disappointed we are by Nidvember.
  9. If you’re listening to it, you aren’t reading it. I’m mostly just yanking his chain, but he did ask for something that occupies “the eyes/ears without occupying the body.” A book seems to exactly match that original description.
  10. Sheesh. Some people are just impossible to shop for!
  11. People who use television shows adapted from shock-horror comic remakes of fifty-six year old humorous comic strips as their moral compass are hopefully pretty rare...

Must not collect Ork army. Must not collect Ork army. Must not coll... WAAAAAGH!
  13. I’m thinking I’m just going to scrap this and dig out my old setting. I’ve been working on it, off and on, since 1999...
  14. The basic history (which is still very, very, very rudimentary) is to have had an older expansionist empire Somewhere Else that came here, colonized it, had troubles hanging on, and ultimately events Somewhere Else caused it to collapse. Analogous to the relationship between the great Roman Empire and it’s colonies in Britain. Although, between you and me, the more ideas I find myself sketching out for this setting the more I realize I’m just re-writing the setting I can up with twenty years ago.
  15. Hence my use of the rhetorical device “To say nothing of[...]” meaning that I was introducing an additional fact that reinforced the larger point being made. A username, in and of itself, is not trolling. Just like the word “jerk” is not, in and of itself, an insult. Context is what matters. ”Jerk on that rope.” means something different than “Go away, jerk.”
  16. The DreamCast was an online console, so was the PS2, PS3, X-Box, and X-Box 360. To say nothing of PC gaming.
  17. It’s all about context. “iLikeObama” as a username wouldn’t seem out of place on, say, the Democratic Underground forum or a DailyKos comment thread. It would certainly raise eyebrows in National Review comment thread. Given that “trolling” is pretty much just weaponized rudeness, it can be hard to pin down. There’s no objective, empirical, and falsifiable definition of “trolling,” it is a subjective thing. You just kind of know it when you see it... Breaking social mores, disrupting other people’s activities, clamoring for attention, and other such behavior can be just as “trolling” as outright spoken insults. Basically, if someone does something online that makes you think “gee, that guy’s a real feminine hygiene product.” Then you are probably looking at a troll.

Stand fast, ya weedy gits! Thar' be a Clan Fokus: Freebooterz after all! Their kultur ability seems a little weak compared to Deathskulls and Blood Axes. You're going to need a fairly cooperative enemy army list that has a lot of MSU and/or Light Vehicles, so that you can frag something with your big gunz and then open up on his other units with the rest of your stuff.
  19. I always think of Shiawase Corporation v. Nuclear Regulatory Commission ___ U.S. __ (2001) as the real point of divergence between the Shadowrun timeline and our own. There were a few important events in the timeline prior to that court case (notably the Shiawase Corporation's construction of the plant and the formation of the eco-terrorist group that attacked it) that led up to the court case, but it was the "Shiawase Decision" that established corporate extraterritoriality and made Shiawase Corporation the first Megacorporation. The elven hackers and dragons in the boardroom are all well and good, but for me, it's just not Shadowrun without the megacorps.
  20. So far, I'm just in the early 'sketch pad' days. I tend to design my settings geography first, broad strokes history second, and then the "hook" grows out of that.
  21. Rough Timeline 43: Under the reign of Emperor Maldika, the Malnova Imperion is first colonized by humanity. 60-78: A local warlord named Veruko starts an uprising that eventually drives out the Imperial government. 98-104: Four imperial Legions, led by the great general Kuristo, re-invade Malnova. They defeat Veruko in battle, but are unable to maintain a hold over the newly independent people for long. 110: Domo I, grandson of Veruko, is crowned the first king of Drakon. 189: Domo II invades Cevalon and is defeated by his son, Fortan, and Amanto II of Cevalon. He dies in battle, Fortan succeeds him but soon joins the Sinjor Crusade. 191: Fortan takes Marist and sells it to the Order of All Martyrs. He reinforces their crusaders in Soldat in early summer and successfully defends Mallum from the troll army led by Marĉulo in autumn, finally setting sail for Drakon in early winter. 192: Fortan is captured on his way home by Duke Kuraĝa of Lacerton and handed over to Domo VI of Drakon. Domo IV demands a heavy ransom. 193-94: Kovard leads an insurrection against Fortan's reign, placing his army in Kastelo. 194: His ransom paid, Fortan returns home and put's down Kovard's insurrection. He then heads for Cevalon but is defeated at Transval by Amanto II. 197: The Battle of the Bridge; Fortan defeats Amanto near Palaco. 198: Skjegg Steindansikt, last High King of the Dwarves dies. 199: Fortan dies in Cevalon from war wounds. Kovard becomes king of Drakon. 202: Cevalon conquers the Drakon holdings of Kamparan and Sunon. Levigis of Sunon, mother of Fortan and Kovard, and widow of Domo II, dies. Leporo Kuniklo unites the halflings of Kamparan in a rebellion, they successfully force Cevalon to grant them home rule. 205: Stono de Muro becomes chancellor of Drakon. 206: Arbara Pastro becomes Archdruid of Drakon against Kovard's wishes. 207: A son is born to Kovard; the future Domo III. 208: Hireophant Senkulpa places Drakon under interdiction over Kovard's quarrel regarding the assignment of Arbara to the position of Archdruid. The interdiction prohibits most druidic services in Drakon. 209: As his feud with the Heirophant continues, Kovard is excommunicated from the Druidic faith. 212: A decree is issued by the Hierophant, declaring that Kovard is not the rightful king of Drakon. Amanto II is assigned as the executor of the decree. 213: Kovard gives in to the Hierophant's demands. The decree is cancelled and the interdiction lifted. Parliament is called for the first time by Kovard as an advisory body. 214: Volos the Bastard, Duke of Mallum, dies. He is succeeded by Volos II. Amanto defeats the Lacerton at Transval. 215: Barons force Kovard to agree to their terms, laid out in the Granda Letero. Terms include curtailing of royal abuses over taxation, religion, justice, and foreign policy. Although he signed it, Kovard later changes his mind. Kovard hires a mercenary army from Lacerton as civil war breaks out. The barons offer the crown of Drakon to Kovard's cousin, Prince Stelo of Sunon. 216: Stelo invades Drakon and takes the capital of Kastelo. He is received as lawful sovereign. The issue of the crown of Drakon remains unresolved when Kovard dies of dysentery. His son, Domo III, succeeds him. 217: Domo III defeats Louis. End of the civil war.
  22. I think its because we're going to finally have a universally agreed upon name for the decade: "The Twenties." "The Aughts," "The Aughties," and "the New Teens" never really caught on since they were so awkward to say. But "The Twenties" is probably going to stick around... and for people like us who grew up with phrases like "Welcome to the Nineties, pal." being the sarcastic way to tell someone to get with the times just sounds weird. I mean, the Twenties? That's when my great-grandfather was a kid. How the hell can I be alive in the Twenties!?
