I’ve always liked the kit, even if it is a prime example of Citadel’s tendency to cram every square millimeter everything with fiddly little details. Sometimes a brick wall should just be a brick wall, y’know? But it’s a fun kit all the same, which should work equally well as a centerpiece to be fought over in games of Frostgrave or looming over the battlefield menacingly in games of The 9th Age or Oathmark. (Heck, it doesn’t even look out of place to see Captain America and Baron Zemo duking it out on top for Marvel Crisis Protocol!)

I totally let myself get distracted from my samurai project...

Guardian Games has been doing pick-up orders since the Plague Wars began. The Portland Game Store started doing so at first, but seems to have stopped about two weeks ago. Now they’re just closed.

Random Request: Anyone here have a table saw or circular saw? We bought a couple of MDF sheets to turn into shelves for a kitchen cabinet, but they were cut about an 1/4” too wide. I really don’t want to try cutting off the excess with just a dremel...

Okay, so the long and winding ramp to get to the gate is a nice bit of strategic planning... But then you gotta go and ruin it by putting giant picture windows on the first story of the guard towers, allow a heavy canopy of trees to grow up to a few yards from the wall, have no battlements, no crenellations, and no machicolations... You’re going into The Book, lad. Continues to grumble in dwarvish for the next twenty-six minutes.

When it comes to flight stands, the absolute pinnacle of robustness and usefulness are the Ninja Magic magnetic adapters. Maybe not the most aesthetically pleasing, but they’re rock solid.

I’ve found that Contrast Paints on a flat/smooth surface look rather nice if you let them get a little “tacky” and then stipple at them with a bit of sponge. I don’t have a good photo of it handy, but doing this with Basilica Grey on the roof of the Marvel Crisis Protocol newsstand gave me a really nice “tar paper roof” finish. There’s no actual raised texture, but it has the appearance of one. (I’m very tempted to try the same trick to make “adobe” walls.)

Turned the last drawer into a church for Woodbox Village. The big flat roof isn’t architecturally sound, but it does give a good place to park a unit of ranged troops or maybe a couple of cannons... and I can always make a cardboard roof later on.

I’m confused that you still have television.

Goal this week is to finish my block of 25 Samurai, with a “stretch goal” of finishing off the 20 Ashigaru with Muskets. I seem to be unable to find Citadel Contrast Wraithbone spray anywhere. Some third-party sellers are offering it on Amazon for $30-40.00 per can! Plus shipping!

Give it another five or six months, Disney will buy Viacom...

It feels like after seven-and-a-half editions of Warhammer 40,000 the design team has finally realized that there is no such thing as a “short-range shooty army.” There is only long-range shooty or mêlée. Several other armies that were conceptually “short-ranged shooty” armies have been made into mêlée forces (e.g., Adeptus Custodes, White Scars, Death Guard) but it was always the Sisters of Battle that GW seemed most keen on embodying the “short-ranged shooty concept.” Hence the emphasis on flame templates, melta- weapons, and boltguns. But that design always meant you were operating within 12” (often within 6”) of the enemy... But never did quite enough damage to wipe them out in one go. Which meant that the enemy would respond by assaulting you. If they were a mêlée-focused unit, this was the best move for them since it brought them into their optimal engagement. If they were a shooty unit, this was still their best move, since it brought both of you into a suboptimal environment where neither of you had an advantage. Sisters now actually seem to be able to play like they were always intended.

The thing that drives me bonkers whenever I look at buying Infinity figures is that certain weapon/equipment options either aren’t available at all or are only available on one figure that is part of a multipack of others.

Could you slice it in half and then glue the two pieces together?

Not too long ago, I had my parents ship me a big box of Warhammer Fantasy figures. If you’ve got them packed reasonably well (like in the equivalent of a Battlefoam transport foam tray) then they shouldn’t have too many problems if shipped via FedEx/UPS/USPS. You may have to reattach a few arms, unbend a few banners, or rebase a couple of dudes, but nothing too serious. If that bottle of glue has already been opened, it’s unlikely to be of any use once it gets to you. I’d have your friend pull it out, but if he can’t it isn’t a big deal.

That’ll be fine. It’ll be a nice part of this complete breakfast.
