Good start and congrats on getting something out there! One bit of feedback I have, that while sexism is addressed later in the piece, the discussion of old gamers and gatekeeping is very much centered around men and the male experience with those things back in the day. (Neckbeards, grognards, guys getting laid, Johnny come lately). There’s a certain erasure of women from the past of the hobby, and I feel like those couple of paragraphs reinforce that no girls allowed sentiment of the past. You have a nice flow and tone to your writing, having a neurodiverse kid I’m very interested in the topic and your experience with it.

Checked in this morning and found some unexpected warp. Doesn’t seem like it will impact the final bases too much. I accidentally left the window open in the room overnight so weird temperature fluctuations probably played a part. The thicker bases my son made didn’t have an issue, so next batch I’m going to increase from 2mm to 3mm and see if that helps.

This may not be the event for you. Participants will be going head-to-head in a bracketed speed painting competition. You will have 20 minutes to paint your miniature. When finished, the judges and crowd will determine the best mini and the winner will progress to the next round. Participant Info · Primed, assembled miniatures will be provided for each round (and are secret until the round starts). · Basic paints and brushes will be provided for contestants but you are allowed, nay encouraged, to bring your own materials. · Please arrive early with enough time to set up your painting area, once set up you will not have to change locations. There will be 15-minute breaks between rounds for cleaning/resetting. · Be prepared for a wide range of subject matter, from AoS to 40K, organic to machine.
