smashthedean Posted January 15, 2014 Report Posted January 15, 2014 I've been getting more into X-Wing since going kind of crazy buying stuff over the holidays and I'd like to get some more games in and get other people more into it. I know Dark Tower has had stocking issues that may have held people back a bit, but I also understand that a lot of people have miniatures collecting dust at home so here is my attempt to get those ships off the shelf and onto a table. For anyone who has X-Wing stuff already and has played a few games, we should get some more games in. I was thinking something like an escalation league might be fun? I've heard people talk about leagues they've done with 30-60-90-120 progression that sound interesting. For anyone who is either brand new to the game or has an untouched core set sitting in a closet, I am totally down for teaching the game to new people and have enough models and proxy cards for people to try pretty much anything they want out. Also, for anyone looking to get new models while Dark Tower is out of stock, CoolStuffInc keeps things pretty well in stock and has free shipping on $100 orders (in addition to everything being 30% off retail). If anyone wants to go in on a Warhamsters order anytime soon, we should talk. Quote
intrizic Posted January 15, 2014 Report Posted January 15, 2014 I'm in for a league after LVO :D Quote
kingblackgrot Posted January 15, 2014 Report Posted January 15, 2014 ill try anything once especialy if i dont have to sink money into it before i give it a try Quote
JMGraham Posted January 15, 2014 Report Posted January 15, 2014 Dark Tower's stocking issues should be fixed - it was more of a FFG production issue than anything. they just got a lot more of the early expansions, etc. stocked. I'd be down for playing more games of it, but don't want to give up other games. Thankfully, X-wing can be a pretty quick before or after game of another system. Hey - Is there a list out there of the cards and ships? I've got a bunch of the basic models, but I know the expansions have additional pilots and upgrades that weren't included in the base set. Is there any way to pick the cards (or just the info) up without getting new ships? 1 Quote
sergentzimm Posted January 15, 2014 Report Posted January 15, 2014 Color me intrigued on the league. I have only played a few rough games with the kids but I have quite a few models. Quote

smashthedean Posted January 16, 2014 Author Report Posted January 16, 2014 ask and you shall receive. Wiki: Yep, this. I printed out every card that exists in color on cardstock at work and cut them out so I'm set up to proxy anything at the moment. I also use this squadbuilder quite a bit to put together lists: http://geordanr.github.io/xwing/ Quote
Munkie Posted January 16, 2014 Report Posted January 16, 2014 I'm definitely down for some more X-Wing, it's a pretty popular game in most places, and there's no reason it shouldn't be in Bham. That said, I'd be more interested in a tournament than an escalation league. The game is so easy to learn that an escalation league isn't really necessary for the learning curve. 2 Quote
generalripphook Posted January 16, 2014 Report Posted January 16, 2014 Games and things has a lot of x-wing stuff too Quote
Wiccus Posted January 16, 2014 Report Posted January 16, 2014 I'm down. I have a ton of ships that I haven't even used yet. Quote
Munkie Posted January 16, 2014 Report Posted January 16, 2014 Also, Comics Place (now in Eagles' old location) had 2 starters and a couple other ships last I was there. Obviously, I recommend getting anything you can from Nathaniel for loyalty's sake, but it's only fair you know your options. Quote
kingblackgrot Posted January 16, 2014 Report Posted January 16, 2014 So after watching a couple how to videos and looking at the pricing on stuff this is definatly something i could get in on Quote
smashthedean Posted January 16, 2014 Author Report Posted January 16, 2014 Yeah. I also have store credit I need to use so Dark Tower is definitely the preferred option, but I just put in an order for a TIE Interceptor last night and they said they were out of stock :( Quote
Raak Posted January 16, 2014 Report Posted January 16, 2014 Been playing this at home and really Dig it Quote
Burk Posted January 16, 2014 Report Posted January 16, 2014 Not to discourage local purchase, but most wave 1 and some of wave 3 are very hard to get (made in China/high demand issues). If you need these ships, then look to amazon.com. They have most available and usually a little cheaper. Example core set is about $25-30 vs $40 MSRP. Also to wet your willies. My favorite list so far is: Alpha SquadTie Interceptor x2 Soontir Fell - Push the limit - Stealth Device Turr Phenier - Push the limit - Stealth Device 100 points on the dot. Enjoy. Quote
smashthedean Posted January 16, 2014 Author Report Posted January 16, 2014 I've been really enjoy Push the Limit TIE Interceptors as well in the little bit of playing I've been able to do. I'm looking at doing: [43] Bounty Hunter -heavy laser cannon -recon specialist [33] Soontir Fel -push the limit -stealth device [24] Saber Squadron TIE Interceptor -push the limit TOTAL: 100 I've also been kind of tempted to proxy up the so-far-unreleased Royal Guard TIE Interceptor pilots with Push the Limit. Four of those guys come in at 100 points even and are all Pilot Skill 6! For those not aware, Push the Limit is an elite pilot skill that lets you take two actoins per turn instead of one at the cost of gaining a stress token. This works especially well with TIE Interceptors as their Boost and Barrell Roll actions can combine to keep them flitting around outside of target arcs and they have a good range of green maneuvers to get rid of the stress tokens and keep their actions rolling. 1 Quote
Wiccus Posted January 17, 2014 Report Posted January 17, 2014 Got an interceptor and shuttle today. Interested in giving the game a try again Quote
smashthedean Posted January 20, 2014 Author Report Posted January 20, 2014 Nathaniel approached me about running an X-Wing game day/tournament sometime soon and I was thinking some weekend in February might be good. I'll probably bring it up at tomorrow's meeting too, but what dates would people here like? Quote
sergentzimm Posted January 20, 2014 Report Posted January 20, 2014 I would would say the last saturday for me, which is actually march 1st. First few weeks are pretty full already and the third saturday being already reserved usually for 40k. 1 Quote

smashthedean Posted January 21, 2014 Author Report Posted January 21, 2014 I went ahead and added a poll for what day would work best for a games day. Please vote it up so I can gauge interest and commit a date to Nathaniel. Also, I mentioned in the Tuesday thread, but I'm going to bring my X-Wing stuff down tonight for demos or a game after my 40k game finishes if anyone is interested. I'd also probably be fine with any of you fine upstanding gents using my models or cards and messing around without me while my game is going on. Quote
