Missions: Missions for the round will be randomly determined by the TO.
Command cards are allowed.
Battleplans will not be in use.
Fog of War cards are NOT allowed.

Attacker/Defender Determination will be using the same method that mid-war Nationals is using this year to calculate Attacker Defender (subject to change after Adepticon if needed):

  • Tank Units - 2pts - meaning any unit with Tanks with an Armor Value (not "-") that is not a Transport Unit or have the Spearhead Rule.
  • Mech Units - 1pt - meaning any unit with Transports (Armored, Unarmored,or Horse-drawn), Unarmored Tank Teams (like British Portees), Any Tank Unit with the Spearhead Rule, or Cavalry
  • Infantry/Gun Units - 0pts. - Any Unit made up of only Infantry Teams and Gun Teams.

Game Play:

Players are responsible for monitoring the time and the judges will announce time intervals throughout the tournament. A true act of sportsmanship is not starting a new turn if both players will not be able to finish that turn. The game should be called if both players cannot finish their turn and the results should be calculated.

Slow play is to be actively discouraged.

When time is called the game must immediately end regardless of the action taking place in the game. New turns cannot be started even if starting a new turn would award an immediate victory or cause a player to make a company morale check.

TOURNAMENT SCORING (running scenarios still but this is probably the scoring)
We will be using a spreadsheet for scoring and here is the breakdown we will use for the Enfilade 2018 tournament.

  • Sportsmanship 10%

Painting Scoring Breakdown

  • During the lunch break, each army should be put on the designated table to be reviewed for a painting score and to be photographed. During the course of the tournament each army will be additionally reviewed. Historical accuracy, realistic weathering, realistic paint schemes for desert, etc will be considered.

Glad to coach u. If u want to come to PDX before ENFILADE, we can set something up.

As for lists, if I recall, your fav was German Motorized Panzergrenadiers. With Afrika Korps Command cards, most of that can be replicated. Here are 2 samples:

NOTE: Both the Softskin transport and Pioneerr Company are commnad cards that can enhance the lists in the unit cards/Africa Korps handbook.

Softskin Transport is a UNIT card, so you pay the point(s) for each unit that uses the card. It is not an All-or-Nothing.

Pioneer Company is a FORMATION card, so the point(s) cost is for the entire formation, not individual unit.

We should be using the latest Lesson From the Front:

Lessons From The Front: V4 (6 pages; .pdf; 445KB)...
https://flames-m58ip69dfg.netdna-ssl.com/portals/0/Documents/Version4/LessonsFromTheFront-V4.pdf

Although the domain on the link looks funky, I verified that the link above is on an actual flamesofwar.com page.

The same links are also listed in the FoW Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/flamesofwargame/

I bought the cards so i could look them over tomorrow.

If u want to come down to PDX, we can coach, practice and gripe together about the v4 rules. Core stuff is the same. We are not experts, but we are comfortable with the new system.

It's quite a drive but I do make it more frequently than one would think.  Sundays look more likely for that sort of trip, for me right now because I have Sakura-Con this next weekend, D&D on the 7th weekend (but Sunday the 8th maybe), Im on Vacation on the 14th on, D&D on the 21st (So Sunday the 22nd maybe), and then nothing yet planned April 28th which would seem the best possible weekend for stuff down there.

Sunday the 22nd if you already plan to be in PDX area.

If you prefer SAT 4/28 or SUN 4/29. Let me know.

  • If you are running Germans, then I will run Brits, since i have a Desert Rats combined arms force.
  • My curent fav is DAK/German Combined arms force, built around a combo of Africa Rifles or Panzer III's
  • My Americans are all-armor right now, but I can also throw those on the table as your sparring partner

I think I'll try for the 28th because it will be less of a crazy weekend plans wise.  I'd like to get there as early as they open Saturday so we can get more than one game in.  The first game is likely to be fraught with mistakes while i learn so probably want to get at least two in.

I like my Germans of course.  I would play Afrika Corps naturally.  Because: Afrika Corps!  I have Japanese early war and Italian Midwar.  but Germany is probably easier?  I have the cards now so i guess i just need to read between now and then.

  • Reserved 2 tables at Guardian Games for SAT 28 APR, 10 AM to 5 PM.
  • One table for you and I, and
  • the second table for anyone else who wants to get a buddy and practice their list for ENFILADE!
  • I will bring 2 Allied lists: 1 US and the other British, 71 points each.

So I guess you wont be crushing me beneath your PZ III's :)

Anyone want a Saturday or Sunday ENFILADE practice session in April?

I know some peeps have hard time getting to GG/PDX on Thursday evenings.

I was thinking about 3-4 hours on a weekend early afternoon, say 11AM-3 PM or 12-4 PM:

  • SAT APR 14, or
  • SUN APR 15, or
  • SAT APR 21, or
  • SUN APR 22

Tables are limited at GG on weekends, so I would need to know at least 2-3 days in advance to reserve a table.

I would be up for a Sat game maybe on the 14th.

Also the No dice no glory podcast is starting a firestorm campaign in April. We could do that as well.

1. I will setup a reservation for SAT 14 APR.

2. I quickly look at the NDNG Firestorm. Interesting. I will post a separate ORDO thread on that campaign in the next day or 2.
