barca Posted May 8, 2019 Author Report Share Posted May 8, 2019 I think that this mission - HASTY ATTACK - is a likely candidate mission for the tournament. It rewards flexible planning. The mission initially appears to favor the attacker. However, a skillful defender could make this mission work in their favor, if they plan ahead. barca Posted May 10, 2019 Author Report Share Posted May 10, 2019 Two quick battles on THU, MAY 9th at GG. Both used HASTY ATTACK Mission. Both pitted US Fighting First Staurt hoard against Germam Africa Korps mixed force, with Tank formation. Both battles were quick victories for the Americans. The german tank formation list will probably not beat the stuart hoard, nor most things that are like it. The answer is Infantry formation with at least 2 antitank gun units, with 1 tank platoon to counterpunch and act as reserve. The Italian light tank hoard might operate similar to the stuart hoard. BTW, I had three infantry units and pushed one aggressively toward the objective #1. If I had used my second Armored car unit better I could have threatened the second objective. phyfor88 Posted May 17, 2019 Report Share Posted May 17, 2019 Barca utterly and completely slaughtered my Russian hordes last night. His defensive fire was 100% needing 8 hits out of 8 shoots on 3+, 4 times in a row. My dice were horrible. 4 Germans panzergrenadiers wiped out my entire army wiping 42 teams of russian infantry out with a little help. It was Nuts. Russians are very hard to play in V4 mid war. I have some new ideals but the Russian infantry hordes have zero chance of winning. They have no real support, the numbers cause them to always be in the open and block friendly shooting. That being said, phyfor88 made some good points. It will take a lot of experimenting to find winning Russian lists and strategies. Being curious, persistent and loving the options in the Russian forces, I vow to keep experimenting. If that is not the matchup you want, I can bring the German Afrika Korps list I used as the sparring partner against ZEKE's Stuart Hoard. Afrika Rifle Formation with PaK38s and Panzer III platoon. I am building up a city fight Russian list to include a Storm Group. Might have that ready in 2 weeks. Does anyone have German Assualt Pioneers?
