PourSpelur
Had a great game with Lance last night. First time out with the new dex and was super happy with the feel of the new book! I wanted to try some new things out and just generally poke around. 2k all Guard HQ: Pask in a Punisher w/2 Exterminators 2 Enginseers 2 Primaris Psykers TR: Vets- carapace, 2 grenade launcheers, hvy flamer, bolter on sarge in Chimera Vets- ditto Vets- another ditto HVY: 3 Vanilla Russes 2 Vanquishers w/lazcannons 2 Wyvern My thoughts and observations. Carapace is a steal, actually making armor saves was a pleasant new experience. The Wyverns got toasted before I could crack any tanks and expose the fleshy Eldar bits to them so no opinion today. Prescience'd Vanquishers w/lazcannons are money. Stoopid cheatin serpents kept turning my beautiful pens into boring old glances though;) Pask+Punisher...probably not uber competitive but crazy fun. Adding 2 Exterminators was a good fit.
fluger
I liked the look of your list. I think the lack of scoring is going to be a real issue though. As much as engineseers make sense conceptually for the list, I just don't see their merit. A stormlord would make this list even better! :D 480 pts could be gotten by dropping the engineseers (80 pts), 3 chimeras (195), A Leman Russ (150), and then various upgrades or the like to get the last 55 pts. DO IT. ESCALATION IS CALLING TO YOU!
PourSpelur
The way I have it now: 1. Pask's Punisher can be ordered to split fire from his Exterminator escorts 2. First Engineer can split fire the 2 prescience'd Las/Vanquishers 3. Second Enginseer can split fire the 3 prescience'd Russes The thought is, I have good shooting but it comes from a limited number of units. Splitting off a main gun from each squadron allows me to reach out and touch more targets if necessary. More play testing is necessary! Fluger: Damn, that does sound fun. I do love the Punisher and it's kind of a mega-Punisher...

AbusePuppy
The Wyverns got toasted before I could crack any tanks and expose the fleshy Eldar bits to them so no opinion today. This is basically my expectation for Wyverns. Good at killing stuff, but probably not gonna be alive to actually do it.
generalripphook
Yeah but they are twin-linked barrage weapons....you don't need line of sight so hide them
AbusePuppy
Hiding entire squadrons of not-small vehicles seems like a pretty big expectation, and it still doesn't save you from enemy barrage weapons (most of which will shred your side AV10 pretty easily.) PourSpelur
The problem was deep striking Warp Spiders. I had them hid behind some ruins pretty well.
AbusePuppy
So as long as no one uses Warp Spiders, Swooping Hawks, Sternguard, Thunderfire Cannons, Crisis Suits, Flyrants, Daemon Princes, Manticores, or flyers of any sort, your Wyverns are safe. I reiterate: good at killing infantry, but not likely to be alive to do it.
Lord Hanaur
Reserve the wyverns?

AbusePuppy
Saturation isn't undoable, but I'm not sure IG these days has a lot of other good 12/10/10 tanks they want to be dropping on the table. The Chimera isn't the powerhouse it used to be since 6th Ed nerfed transports so hard and the Taurox just isn't that great for what it does. Hellhounds are in the same class, but they do basically the exact same job as a Wyvern so I'm not sure why you would mix them. Armored Sentinels, maybe? They're enough cheaper to be possibly good, but I'm still not sure. I suppose there's allies, but that starts getting a lot more complex. I don't think the Wyvern is horrible or anything, it just feels like it's doing a job IG can already do and without a lot of the advantages that make other, similar platforms advantageous. AbusePuppy
I realize that, hence why I mentioned allies at the end. IG + Eldar is a combo I've had some level of success with, although with one of the main synergies (Psyker Battle Squad) gone, I don't think there's nearly as much impetus to bring them. IG + Tau has some interesting options available, but I haven't been able to come up with a specific list for them yet (and certainly not one that would want Wyverns over other choices.) Do you have something specific in mind here, or are you just thinking generally?
