Pecksata
Anyone use a static grass applicator? Brand suggestions? is it worth it? Thinking of getting one to make my own tufts and terrain pieces.
Ish
Had one back in the day, Woodland Scenics. Worked absolutely great for doing exactly what it was meant to... and I found it kinda “meh” in the long run. For model railroads or other, similar, projects where the static grass isn’t going to be touched much, it works a treat. But for a wargaming tabletop? Years of moving toy soldiers across it, rulebooks resting on it, dice scattering across it, and so forth means it all wears out and falls off after a while. I switched to just using a combination of regular glued-down flocking (sealed with a generous amount of matte spray) and some targeted applications of static grass tufts here and there. Bases of trees, along walls, next to ponds and puddles... any place that grass should grow thicker and where I didn’t think they’d see a lot of “traffic” from toy soldiers.
