Place to get models 3D printed?

Recommended Posts

From my limited understanding since I haven't purchased a printer yet, the larger size you want can only be done on a mid-sized to larger resin printer, which generally start at $1200. Most mid-sized resin printers that can print 6 inches in the $3500 range and are low end commercial units. I recommend you call around to 3d printing places. Most around PDX are called "rapid prototyping" and can quote you. Bear in mind when I checked on local places for my business prototyping printing it was $90 per 6"x6"x4" part IIRC since they have minimum machine times and such.

Hmmm I have a photon S - resin printer ... I’m pretty sure that size is possible... 6” x 3x3.75.
I can double check exactly this weekend.

It will be tight though. depending on the file - it will probably need to be angled to squeeze every mm out of it.  The 2.5” dimension- the depth front to back on the printer can be limiting.  But sometimes depending on the file it can be tipped just right.

something to experiment with maybe

Thank you! Certainly would appreciate it!

Could you slice it in half and then glue the two pieces together?

Definitely would not be opposed,  not sure if that's something that could be done easily on a resin printer? No idea how that works, unfortunately.

Hmm, I mean the price is steep, but I guess not out of line with miniature prices for models that size.

I was pretty lazy on the hobby front this weekend - do you have this STL already?  I would need to see if it will fit... to try to print it as large as possible.  Before going to the cut it up route.

No worries! Yep, I just purchased it, do you want to PM me an email address and I'll send it over?

Thanks!
