Sherbert
In the event of a tie, the winner is the person with the most impressive facial hair? Now I see why Sherbert is so gung ho about this, what with that luxurious silky-smooth chin rug. now your catching on.
generalripphook
I can't believe I dare beat this drum again, but the LoTR battle strategy did both of these well. On item one, the might mechanic implements a nice "economy of actions" for your heroes, do you declare a heroic move, to allow your hero and men around him to move first? Or do you save the might for that combat to kill that key goblin, blocking your war bands escape. Not super combos, but enough that makes list building, deployment and play very tactical. On item two LoTR knocks it out of the park. Often when we were playing back in the heyday, Tony and I could get a game in, then either switch deployment, armies, or objectives in the same game. Anyway Godslayer models look pretty dang cool! Wait..do you still have an army? Id love to play you sometime. Ive had LOTR strategy battle game for longer than 40k and i have to say I have never been disapointed. There are so many epic things that unnamed captains or heroic soldiers can do. stark1261
I have multiple armies, though getting a game is tough, as the soonest I could be back living in the BLI will be late nov. You should do some teaching games, really that is going to be the way to expose people. One thing about warhamsters is they are always up for a new game. And some time the old can be new! The age of the system (use the old rulebooks and models) makes it a real low barrier to eBay for anyone on barter town or eBay.
Sherbert
So I ordered the main rule book yesterday. Hopefully it will get here soon so that Joey and I can start play testing it and find out if its a good game or not.

I also like Saga tho and would be down for that too

Wiccus
Ordered some Scots. This should be fun to mess around with. Really interested in the battle board mechanics.
Wiccus
Got some of my minis in. I feel the paint jobs on gripping beasts site don't really do them justice. While far from the best models I have seen they are actually pretty awesome.
Sherbert
http://www.grippingbeast.com/product.php?ItemID=268441606 here is that Irish warlord guy I was talking about. the paint job is not very good but the model has a lot of potential. Gailbraithe
Oh hell yeah. I absolutely love the Vikings TV show, and have been wanting to do something set in that world for a while. My first impulse was to go Scots (being Scottish myself), but since Wiccus has already ordered them, I'm ordering a set of Normans + dice and rulesbook. smashthedean
In my dream last night, I walked past Joey's house with some people and he was painting his Saga models, but he was using weird Ogre models and some giant worm thing for his elite vikings and his garage was full of spiders. Wiccus
I ordered another expansion book which apparently has rules for standards. I think that conquest minis has some plastic normans if you were looking to play on the cheap
Wiccus
Also its strange that you mention spiders Kacey as about a million baby spiders were born on my porch. Maybe your dream was a vision of the future
Gailbraithe
So I finally sat down and read the rules for Saga today, and now I am really excited to play. I haven't seen a system this elegant in design since Song of Blades and Heroes.
Sherbert
I still haven't gotten my book because the warstore is sold out. I have however, been building up my forces. Hopefully by the end of the week all of my elite troops will be done and some of my warriors as well. I probably wont start painting until my entire 4pt force is built. Just order it direct from Gripping Beast. The international shipping is like $3 more, tops.
Sherbert
Nathaniel uses the warstore to order stuff so I wasn't paying for shipping. As a poor student I got to save those dollars.

Hit me up next week though and I might be able to swing a Wednesday game

So far I've finished exactly one unit of archers: It'll be another two weeks, maybe three, before I finish 4 pts worth.
