have you built Sisters of Silence yet? talk about fiddly!

At present, I don’t own any Sisters of Silence and don’t plan to buy any soon. I’m taking a “wait and see” stance on them for now, until we know more about how important it will be to have psychic defenses in the new edition...

...and I’m kinda tempted to use Stormcast Sequitor models, with head- and weapon-swaps, instead of the Sisters of Silence models.

Edit to add: I’ll add a black band around the lip of his base tomorrow, but I’m calling him “done.”

Shield-Captain on Dawneagle Jetbike. In a faction where every rank-and-file grunt has more bling than some named Special Characters in other factions, it can be kind of tricky to make the heroes standout. I think this should do nicely.

I’m torn on these guys for my Custodes force. I know they’re wicked good on the table, but I already have White Scars as a biker-centric force.

I’m purposefully choosing to steer myself away from any of the cheesier Bikestodes lists (Supreme Command Detachment of nothing but Bike Captains or the Outrider Detachment of three units of three Vertus Prætors led by a Bike Captain) and am planning to lean hard on basic Custodian Guard squads for the bulk of my force.

But the simple truth is that the Adeptus Custodes faction, on the whole, lacks for maneuvering, anti-horde shooting, and something that can act as a counter to a Knight or other Titanic unit... Except for the Vertus Prætors who are both maneuverable and anti-horde shooters (with hurricane bolters) and the Bike Captain who can (with the right relics) reliably fist-fight Titanic units. So, really, I just don’t think there’s any way to avoid having a few of them.

At the moment, I have two bikers and one bike Captain. By week’s end, UPS will be delivering my second box, which will leave me with five bikers and the Captain... I plan to stop there, unless I can snag a single biker off eBay or Mindtaker (since the minimum unit size is three).

I haven’t been able to find a Land Raider anywhere!

But, then again, I’ve also only been looking for “pre-owned” Land Raiders. They’re usually pretty common on the second-hand market (until I wanted one) and since I figure I’ll need at least two, it seemed prudent to save money.

But it seems like everyone on the internet has decided that Custodes lists should just be nothing but Terminators, Telemons, and Bikes... and I’m just sort of reflexively contrarian by nature. So I’m gonna dig in my heels and not use (many) of those units.

Green Stuffed Commisar (see above) finished.  Cape turned out better than planned.  Chainmail jacket not as much but, hey.

Commisar “Bloody” Bazinsky is feared even by his colleagues. He misses no opportunity to use his cane as a “motivator” and passes judgement with his Power Axe.

I’ve wanted to build a warband of Dwarves for Frostgrave and other fantasy skirmishers like Mordheim for a while. I’ve been sitting on a box of GW’s Kingdom of Khazad-dûm Rangers for a long while as I dithered over the paint scheme.

Today, I just said “to heck with it” and decided to speed-paint the whole group. Here’s my current work in progress of the first eight (of twenty-four) models:

It ain’t my best paint job ever, but I should have the whole lot of them done by Saturday. Plus it’s been fun to use multiple greens and browns that one doesn’t often get to use when painting dwarves.

I picked up a Primaris Space Wolf Getting Started box because it's an economical way to get some Intercessors and Aggressors. The box includes a Wolf Guard Battle Leader as well. Figured I'd give him a coat of paint. I'm pretty happy with how he turned out:

Looking beyond the embers of bridges glowing behind us,
To a glimpse of how green it was on the other side.
Steps taken forwards but sleepwalking back again.
Dragged by the force of some inner tide
At a higher altitude with flag unfurled,
We reached the dizzy heights of that dreamed of world.

Encumbered forever by desire and ambition,
There's a hunger still unsatisfied.
Our weary eyes still stray to the horizon,
Though down this road we've been so many times.

7,000 charge en masse.
Turn the tide of the attack,
And force the enemy to turn back.
And that's when the dead men are marching again.

Thousands of tons of armor and guns,
Making it's way through the sand.
Our panzer battalion is back for revenge!
Artillery sweeping the land.

So, it’s only seventy-two tons of armor and guns, but I think it’s close enough. Bought this lady of war second-hand from our dear friends @pretre and Mindtaker Miniatures. The bones were solid, the paint job was table-ready, and the Machine-Spirit longs to return to the field of battle. I’m giving it some touch-ups here and there, but it was 80% complete when I bought it.

Not sure when a she’ll see the table, since even by Custodes’ standards she’s a lot of points, but it’s been a fun, quick, easy painting victory.
