R.I.P. Diana Rigg

Recommended Posts

Diana Rigg's Mrs. Peel, believe it or not, was also responsible for the creation of a whole slew of X-Men characters. The 1966 episode "A Touch of Brimstone" was [s]completely ripped off[/s] given an homage by Chris Claremont with the Hellfire Club. Mrs. Peel in her"Queen of Sin"costume (which Diana Rigg designed herself!) being a direct inspiration for Jean Grey's Black Queen and Emma Frost's White Queen. Emma Frost, of course, is named for Emma Peel; The Black King/Mastermind's real name of Jason Wyngarde's (and his likeness) is based on Peter Wyngarde, the villain of the episode. So on and so forth...
