BORDER PRINCES BASH! - SEVENS LEAGUE
The Border Prince Confederacy, known also as the Borderlands, The Frontiers or simply as the Border Princes, is a vast region within the Old World located between the Black Mountains and Black Fire Pass to the north and the shores of the Black Gulf to the south. This region of vast wilderness is home to a multitude of petty Human kingdoms that were established by highly ambitious adventurers who sought to create a realm of their own. Many times, however, these adventurers usually consist of political or religious refugees from lands such as the Empire, Bretonnia and Kislev. As such, these lands are infamous as the homes of a wide variety of bandits, mercenaries, cut-throats, pirates and other lawless fugitives. The perfect place for a league of fierce, scrappy Blood Bowl teams!

 RULES
The league will use all of the latest edition of 7s rules from Death Zone (2021), pages 90-97. As these are fresh off the printing press, some granular questions have arisen and answers are listed below. Undoubtedly more questions will arise and we will post clarifications specific to our league here.
-All teams from BB2020 and the latest Teams of Legend document are allowed
-Team Draft Budget is 600,000 gp (DZ p91)
-Note that Rerolls cost double and add that double cost to Team Value (unlike standard BB)
-Inducements are limited to the ones listed in the DZ rules (DZ pgs 93 and 97)
-Mercenaries from BB are available, not the new Mercenaries from DZ
-Player Advancement and The Draft rules are in effect (DZ p96)

 SCHEDULE
Season Dates: June 22 to July 20; Playoffs August 3
The league has an Open Schedule. Coaches can play as many games as they can fit into season. Coaches can play the same opponent multiple times, but note that the League Points (LPs) earned against each opponent is capped (see League Rankings).

 LEAGUE RANKINGS
Team rankings are determined by the total number of League Points (LP) earned. LPs are earned for Match Results, Bonuses, and Special Events.

Match Results
LPs from Match Results are capped at a maximum of 11 LPs from matches against a single coach. For example, if Coach Alpha has 1 win and 2 draws against Coach Beta, Coach Alpha has 11 LPs and cannot earn any more LPs from Match Results.
-Win: 5 LPs
-Draw: 3 LP
-Loss: 1 LP

Bonuses
LPs from Bonuses are NOT capped and can be earned for any match. For example, despite Coach Alpha having 2 wins and 1 draw against Coach Beta, they could play again and Coach Alpha would earn LPs from Touchdowns and Casualties.
-Each touchdown scored by your players: 1 LP
-Each casualty (that earns SPP) caused by your players: 1 LP

Special Events
These are league-wide occasions determined by the Commissioner and will be advertised in advance. They could be part of a League Night Theme.

 WINNING THE LEAGUE
Following the final league night, a number of teams will be eligible for the playoffs determined by their rankings and the total number of teams in the league.
-7 or fewer teams: the top two (2) teams will have a 1-game playoff for the championship
-8 or more teams: the top four (4) teams will have a 2-game playoff for the championship

 LEAGUE NIGHTS
There are three (3) official League Nights hosted at WOW.
-June 22
-July 6
-July 20
-League Night for Playoffs: August 3
Coaches may play as many games as they can fit into the duration of each League Night (approximately 5:00-9:00 PM, subject to the GN Czar’s decision).

 LEAGUE NIGHT BONUS SKILLS DRAFT
At the conclusion of each League Night, each team will be eligible for the Bonus Skill Draft. The Commissioner will generate a draft pool with a number of Skills equal to the number of teams in the league, and each coach may draft one (1) of these Skills and assign it to any player on their roster. This is an exception to the normal 7s rules of random skill assignments.

The draft order is determined by the number of LPs earned during League Night, with the highest number being first. Ties between teams will be broken by: Total League Points, Wins, Draws, Losses, die roll (by Commissioner).

Note that coaches not playing on League Night will still get a draft selection, but they will all have a League Night score of zero points, broken by the tie breakers listed above. (If not all coaches attend League Night, the draft will be conducted/concluded online through the Ordo Fanaticus Forum).

All Drafted skills are considered to be Chosen skills for Value Increases. The total Value Increase is based on the normal access for the player selected.

Chosen Primary skill: +20,000 gp
Chosen Secondary skill: +40,000 gp
Chosen Unavailable* skill: +40,000 gp

*Unavailable skill is one the player would not normally be able to get; for example, a Mutation or Trait.

 LEAGUE NIGHT THEMES
Each league night will feature a theme that adds special circumstances to the matches played during the league night (and only those matches). Coaches are still free to play as many matches as they can during league night and use the theme for all of them.

These are EXAMPLES of possible themes. No theme is guaranteed to be used, nor in any particular order.

-Opening Night - The biggest night for fans to attend, filled with excitement for the season and hope for playoffs! Each team gets +2 Dedicated Fans for each game played during Opening Night. Additionally, if the coach brings a painted Cheerleader model, the team gets an additional +1 Dedicated Fans (for a total of +3) and a Cheerleader inducement to use for each game!

-Mascot Night - The stitching is fresh and the outfits are zany, ready for their debut in front of the crowd. Each team gets a free Mascot Inducement (DZ page 39) for each game. Additionally, if the coach brings a painted Mascot model, the team gets two (2) Mascots for each game!

-All You Can Eat Night - The grills are fired up and laden with patties of ground… something, and nothing attracts wizards like a buffet! Each team gets a free Wizard inducement for each game. This may be a standard Wizard or any of the special Wizards that are available based on the team’s Regional Special Rules (DZ page 22). Additionally, if the coach brings a painted Apothecary model, the team gets a free Apothecary to use for each game!

-Pro Scout Night - The Big Leagues sent their scouts to assess the young talent, so all players are playing their very best. Any player can use the Pro (3+) skill during the games, but if they do, they count as having an additional skill for the purpose of The Draft (DZ page 96) at the end of the game. Note that the players never actually have Pro and do not retain it after league night.

-Free Beer Night - The kegs are flowing and the players don’t mind partaking just because they have a match to play! Each team MUST use the Heady Brew inducement (DZ page 39) at the start of each drive. Note that the requirement for a player to have the Stunty trait is waived for this theme. Each team also gets a free Bloodweiser Keg inducement (BB page 90).  Additionally, if the coach brings a painted Bloodweiser Keg model, the team gets two (2) Bloodweiser Kegs to use for each game!

 BLOOD BOWL SEVENS ROSTER RULES

  • TEAM DRAFT BUDGET: 600,000 gp
  • NUMBER OF PLAYERS: 7 minimum, 11 maximum
  • JOURNEYMEN: (allowed during season play), replace Loner (4+) with Loner (5+)
  • PLAYER POSITIONS
    • LINEMEN (0-12 or 0-16 position): unlimited
    • OTHER POSITIONS AND BIG GUYS: maximum 4 (restricted by normal team roster limits)
  • PURCHASING TEAM RE-ROLLS
    • 0-6 re-rolls can be purchased during Team Draft
    • Cost is double normal cost (and adds double value to Team Value)
    • Additional re-rolls can NOT be purchased during season
  • HIRING SIDELINE STAFF
    • 0-3 ASSISTANT COACHES: 20,000 gp each
    • 0-6 CHEERLEADERS: 20,000 gp each
    • 0-1 APOTHECARY: 80,000 gp
    • All can be purchased during season
  • DEDICATED FANS
    • All teams start with 1 (and will never fall below 1)
    • 0-5 additional: 20,000 gp each (only available when team is drafted)
    • If you have not yet played BB2020, know that Dedicated Fans = income and are very important!

 RULES UPDATES
Some rules clarifications that come up during games.

TOUCHBACKS
The Sevens rules are unclear about what counts as a Touchback. For our league, any kick-off that lands on the pitch and not behind the kicking coach's Line of Scrimmage is a fair kick, any other result is a Touchback.

POST-GAME SEQUENCE
The Sevens rules describe the sequence for Player Advancement and The Draft correctly, but are listed in the rules in the wrong order, which is confusing. During the Post-Game, coaches roll for The Draft first, then conduct Player Advancement rolls, so that a player who earns a new skill is NOT eligible for the The Draft until after their next game.

Teclis'ulor Cancer - Elven Union

Quote

In the elven district of Marienburg, it isn't strange for Blood Bowl teams to quickly form and take part in both casual, and more serious competitions. Some of these teams are extensions of larger groups, often a fashion club or racing club will form teams to have something to do in their off seasons. One such club is The Society, a controversal club dedicated to the elven pursuit of High magic. The Society is often critizied for its acceptance of the study of non-High magic, with some even suggesting that more nefarious arts are being studied. Not helping this reputation is The Society's irrevent humor, something often not associated with elven kind. The mix of elves from all over the Old World has given The Society meetings somewhat of a campy, collegiate-feel. Encouraged by the upcoming Border Princes Bash, several younger members of The Society have formed a new team to take a part in the festivities, and thier name has drawn ire from the more staunch protectors of elven tradition: Teclis'ulor Cancer.

the Death Bed Friendlies - Snotlings

These enthusiastic Daemons of Nurgle are just happy to be here - literally, given that most leagues maintain discriminatory rules requiring players to have "actual, objective, and verifiable physical existence on the material plane." Thanks to the looser bookkeeping in the Border Princes, this mob of Nurglings is finally leaving the Realm of Chaos for a chance to play games, make friends, and most importantly, have fun! They're chaperoned by (Lesser) Great Unclean Ones, who unfortunately have little interest in Blood Bowl, and are liable to be distracted by the entertaining antics of their adorable cousins.

I cannot wait to see this team!

It's ok, in 7s they aren't that good

They'll be very good at crushing Titchy players, is all.

I am potentially interested, but is there anywhere to buy the new base rules and DZ1 without buying the whole new game box?

Yeah, they're both available individually. You probably don't need Death Zone, either - the Sevens rules are short and I'm sure there will be copies around to reference.

Yes, both are available without buying the box. BTW, I have a sealed copy of the book for sale at retail if you want. I don’t have an extra Death Zone.

We're up to 9 teams! Come join the party, you other BB-ers. 7s is a great way to learn the game and/or improve your skills without the crutch of Rerolls. 🙂

That's what you think, I'm running four rerolls, eight Snotlings
