Weav
I'm thinking of getting my kids Chromebooks for Christmas...should I or shouldn't I? They are 11 and are using the house laptop for research and typing frequently. This is affecting me trying to watch 80s wrestling videos on the YouTubes.
Guest
So, the issue is that you don't want to share your laptop? Is it more practical to just purchase a you-tube viewer for yourself? Seems like less purchases.
Weav
Carl, it's called consumerism...Christmas dictates I buy expensive gifts.
DisruptiveConduct
The lifespan of most laptops is three years. I would go for a cheaper netbook like ASUS offers since they will likely be replaced before high school.
Torg
I've seen several chrome books for right around 200$. 199 for one at frys. - they will be cheaper after thanksgiving for sure. I have been wondering the same thing. Will the chrome book be ok for 2-3 years? Kids get to high school your getting them laptops regardless. -d
Brother Glacius
why not just a tablet for now?
Andrewgeddon
I purchases a Chromebook for my wife a while ago. At the time, we didn't have smart phones, and I needed her to do her Pinteresting on something other than my computer so I could waste my time looking at magical cards and little plastic warriors. It was good, for what it was. We spent like $200, and it was a great Facebook / Pinterest box, basically a tablet with a keyboard. From what I remember, it had a fairly limited word processor on it, so it might be better to use something like Google Docs instead.
