A good game shouldn't give an incentive to make things unfun for both players, and having to grind every possible BP out of someone to ensure you win a tournament usually isn't fun for either player. It rewards n00b-stomping, it penalizes players who win a tough matchup against a good opponent, and it just generally encourages things that I don't think are good for the hobby in any way. I realize that it's not always possible to run enough rounds of a tournament to achieve a "perfect" victor, but that's why pods were invented- if you've got fifty-odd people and only want to do five rounds, split the field in half and do it.
