Blasto
Hello Ordo, I just got in my order from Secret Weapon of bases for my Malifaux crew. Sadly, I'm having a hard time getting the plastic minis to stick to the resin bases. At the moment I'm using Zap-a-gap, but it takes 5 minutes of me holding the mini to base for even a chance of it to stick. Half the time I have to wipe it off and start anew. Anyone have any tips & tricks for this problem. Thank you, Blasto
splinx
Pin them and use super glue with the pin and they should hold well. Did you wash the resin with detergent to get the casting material / solution off?
scottshoemaker
Wash the bases in soapy water if you haven't. Try using a different type of CA glue, like a gel style so it doesn't run everywhere. Zip Kicker will accelerate the set time of the glue to seconds at the cost of the glue getting a bit brittle. All else fails you'll have to pin the mini in place.
Blasto
Thank you for the suggestions. I'll look for some different CA glue options and/or Zip Kicker as well. I did forget to wash the bases, I'll do that this evening. Sadly, Malifaux Gremlins have zero size for pinning so that is not an option. scottshoemaker
Try this. It can be a bit goopy but no runs:
VonVilkee
As for pinning you could still put a pin in the base bend it at the base to create a lip then glue the Gremlin to that. I envision the outside of a foot glued laterally to it not just stuck on top. Last ditch effort if none of the above work.
Blasto
The zip kicker is working great. Will I need to wash it again before priming?
WestRider
The same release agent that interferes with the glue is also what will interfere with primer. So once they've been washed, they should be good.
ChaosGerbil
For a quick set, I use Gorilla super glue and a little bit of white Elmer's glue. It starts getting tacky right away. There are some good superglue activator sprays too.
Brick Bungalow
I would recommend a pin index so you can drill different size holes. The bit that comes with most vises is indeed too large for smaller figures but you can really pin virtually anything with a steady hand and the right bit.
