WestRider
Four Pods on Turn one is definitely a big improvement over three. I can't yet bring myself to strip out enough stuff to go to a nine Pod list, but seven is feeling rather more solid than five was. And any even number is just heresy ;)
Frowbakk
For the Scouts conversions you could do what I kitbashed up to use as Inquisitoral Storm Troopers for the old Immolator Rush list (back when Heavy Flamer Immys were the coolness) Brettonian Man-at-Arms legs and hats, Daemonette torsos (plus a bit of greenstuff to bring them back into balance in the chest area), female heads from Hasslefree Miniatures, and Cadian IG arms with the shoulder pads trimmed down to look like just fabric and blend into the torsos better with a greenstuff shawl The one on the left is a Necromunda Ganger Here,s a rear view, and a group shot below...
pretre
Good idea on the seventh pod! Easy enough to swap some stuff out.
PourSpelur
Sternguard impressed the hell out of me the one time I faced them. Plus they fit in with the "short range, heavy shooting" theme pretty well...
Guest
Should get some really muscular "sisters" to represent the marines. Steroid sisters with deep voices...
pretre
Should get some really muscular "sisters" to represent the marines. Steroid sisters with deep voices...Or just sisters in heavier armor. Eisenkern or enforcer/peacekeeper.
pretre
I may have time today to look at swapping stuff around. I've been also trying to think of how to do this with Space Wolves counts-as since I really don't need another marine chapter. Sternguard would be easier to rep than Sanguinary. Although now I don't have any assault in the army.
PourSpelur
Oh, I just realized how awesome Sanguinary Guard would look with those gladiator heads I want to use!
pretre
Oh, I just realized how awesome Sanguinary Guard would look with those gladiator heads I want to use! Yeah, the SG aren't the perfect optimized answer, but they are hella cool.
pretre
How about this? Uriah (in Bastion for fearless/counter-attack bubble and extra faith) 5 BSS in Immo (TL-MM) with Flamer x2 9 BSS with 2xFlamer (Pod) 5 Dominions with 4 Melta (Pod) 5 Dominions with 4 Melta (Pod) 5 Dominions with 4 Melta (Pod) 5 Retributors with 4 Heavy Flamers (Pod) 5 Retributors with 4 Heavy Flamers (Pod) 6 Retributors with 4 HB, Simulacrum Bastion with Comms 6 Drop Pods Sanguinary Priest with Veritas Vitae (Warlord, Extra Strategic, Bastion?) Tac Squad with HF, Combi-Flamer in Drop Pod Scout Squad 5 Sternguard in Drop Pod 5 Sternguard in Drop Pod 9 Pods, 1840. Lost our counter-assault, but pretty beefy still. Roll strategic and try to infiltrate Bastion, Rets and the Immo with 5 BSS (Outflank). Deep strike the rest. 5 Pods is a pretty beefy first strike. PourSpelur
Sir, it appears the enemy bastion has advanced on our position under the cover of night! ;) Great list, really captures the feel I was looking for.

fluger
I was thinking for a list like this that modelling the Bastion to look like a drop pod-esque thing would be really cool.

pretre
Sternguard are much easier to model for SW at least. Wolf guard with cool bolters.
PourSpelur
Conversely, drop-churches would be boss!
WestRider
Stealth orbital drop. :) Drop Bastions were actually a thing in Planetstrike. Seriously, they were one of the Strategems you could get in bigger Games. You kept it in Reserves, it came in by Deep Strike like a Pod.

PourSpelur
We've reached orbit over the enemy planet. All hands to battle stations, load the Church cannon and prepare to fire! Narrative Forged;)
pretre
Of all the groups to fire actual buildings to the battlefield, I would imagine the SOB would be the most likely.

pretre
Now I just need like 5 more drop pods and I can start working on this. Question: What do people like to run for their bare scouts loadout?
Guest
Now I just need like 5 more drop pods and I can start working on this. Question: What do people like to run for their bare scouts loadout? I've run almost everything [with scouts]. What do you need them to do? Scouts work best with a dedicated primary role. Also, which chapter tactics do you intend to use?
