How feasible/acceptable would a full knight list be?

Hey ordo, I have a problem... I love the dreamforge leviathans and I'm weak. I bought 3 during the kickstarter and have since bought 3 more. With the new rules getting play around here more and more of the locals are going drop pod heavy. Some of you may know me as that drop pod guy been playing them heavily for a long time but I don't like being in vogue so it is time to switch it up.

I know a single imperial knight is awesome and some field a lance formation but what about a five knight list at 2k points? I'd get an upgrade on any one to a senechal (ion shield would be 3+ and he gets bs/ws 5). I'm toying with the following list...

Knight paladin (2 shot battle cannon, and D melee) also has two heavy stubbers

Knight errant (str 9 ap1 large blast Melta @36", and D melee)also has one heavy stubber

Knight lancer (6 shot str 7 ap2 @18",D melee +1 initiative on the charge)

Knight Castigator (twin linked 8 shot str7 ap3@36",str 10 melee with a spin attack to hit everything in btb at ini 2 trades normals for this)

Knight Acheron (helstrom str 7 ap3 NOT TORRENT,D melee with bonus against armor value stuff) also has a twin linked heavy Bolter)

So that would be the list. Falls a little shy of the points value might add a single squad of some thing or an attack bike but I want the full knight feel. Don't know which one would be the warlord (gets the senechal bonus) prolly the lancer. I picture the Castigator doing AA work because worth no secondary weapon he will struggle to make charges by killing what was in range and not having a back up charge also that many twin linked str 7 should do some work. I feel like the list has a lot of tools and would just be epically tough to maneuver around each other.

If you can get ahold of HH4, it has the Questoris Knight army, which is much better designed. It gives you more flexibility in spending your points and has some very neat additional options.

That aside, Knight armies can be quite strong and tend to end the game very quickly, one way or the other. However, if you're looking at a casual environment you may not be happy with running all Knights, as people will either have the tools to beat you (and thus wreck you pretty badly) or not (and themselves get crushed.) The relative one-sidedness of it can be discouraging to a lot of players, even while the army itself isn't strictly more powerful than many of the existing options in the game.

I have played two knight list and it felt very soul crushing to opponents whether I was or they were. So going full would likely be same unless it was a shared list before the game.

Knowing that is what you are playing against would make it enjoyable.

I am with I now have 2 gw Knights and 4 dreamforge.

I plan to pick up so of the dreamforge troops and some air cav to make a Ally attachment which will cover my anti air. I would use the tempest of scion dex. I plan to use the terminator hk2 models for my fliers from moebius sp?

Funsies and to make the locals figure out how to deal with knights. I'm tempted to put it into the ordo team event if I get to go... Anything I own and would paint to add to this would only make the list better. I figure if someone pushed to have sine regular troops in the board I'd drop to 3 knights and take an Allied Detachment so that I could still choose a knight as warlord and pickup some objective secured.

I've found that players, instead of having fun with knights, really get mad if forced to figure out how to deal with them. Hopefully your attitude will make enough of a difference.

A common thought is that those knights (and D weapons and super heavies) are unwelcome in non-apocalypse 40k. GW's been working hard to blur the line between 40k and apocalypse, and not everyone welcomes those changes.

A 5 Knight list plays very quick, but can lead to some frustrating and lopsided games.

You could probably play the 5 Knights in the Open, but they are not appropriate for the Team event.

Games that last 60-90 min and negate 50-90% of your opponents army rarely provide an enjoyable time for both players.

Unless the goal is to play quick and drink :). Alright then I'll field fewer and make a stronger on the table presence. I've found the best way is to use their base size against them and engage them in combat with anything that can't hurt them then win on objectives but I understand many that play can't just sacrifice models to do what needs be done.

Alright taking counsel and not going forward with full knights... But I really want my warlord to be a knight. Epic machine of war!!!

Here is the list I'm considering now.

Castigator

Paladin

Errant

These are the knights I really want to run.

IG ALLIED DETACHMENT

Manticore (I know it isn't vogue but another awesome dreamforge model, their APC with an upgrade for bombs)

Tank commander Pask in an exterminator with multi Melta sponsons

Leman russ eradicator no upgrades

Veteran Squad lascanon, Plasma gun carapace armor

Chimera

Veteran Squad 2 plasma, Melta, carapace, forward sentries (don't gain extra attack charging them, and +1 cover save)

Chimera.

What do you gents think?

I'm using sedition wars models for the guardsmen, only gw stuff would be Chimeras and Lemans.post-1112-0-01953800-1427174158_thumb.jpg
