Next Blood Bowl League (Give Your Thoughts)

So I have had a number of folks reach out to me with ideas about the next league. This is awesome as I have been planning on doing another league this year and it is great to hear people want more BLOOD BOWL. This thread is simply a means to communicate ideas about what people want and don't want in the next league. I will include my own thoughts as some of what I have heard already.

1. Multiple Divisions. This is something I would like to do as well as something I have heard from others. It would be great to have 2 decisions in the next league. Divisions could be determined based off of current league rank and then have new players also join in the lower division.

This would create better games for all. At the end of each league, a certain number of coaches would move up or down in division.

2. Longer but less frequent games. I have toyed around with the idea of doing 1 game every 2 weeks. This allows the league to continue during other events and give players an easier time in getting in there games.

3. Tournaments: My goal is to build up to a 2 day tournament in the style of many of the big tournaments (Canadians have expressed interest every year in coming down to play in a 2 day BB event). I plan to have some 1 day tournaments before then obviously. These would likely use the Spike! tournament rules with some possible modifications to here and there.

I have other ideas but want to get others into this conversation.

Having suggested point 1 to you privately, I agree!

I would like to keep the cadence of games up to weekly though mainly because I'm an addict, but also because in my experience of running leagues it focuses people on getting games played. An option to allow some lee-way is to have an "off-week" every 4 game weeks, or half way through the season, that allows for catch up games to be played if scheduling doesn't work out for whatever reason.

1 I like

2 off week would be cool or if every other week, could be mid week games worth less value or higher risk to show an exhibition match.

3. Might be interested

1: I like the idea of a big pool unless there is truly enough players to warrant two well-populated divisions.  I've seen other leagues/events/activities unravel because of premature sectioning/divisioning where one to two participants leaving/quitting causes the entire division to become unsustainable.

2: I like the idea of 1 game/week, off weeks every few games for catch-up or break doesn't sound too bad, or possibly just a bye system, depending on participant count.

3: yes, whee!

I'm crazy jealous I couldn't get ready in time to join the active league and am VERY excited to participate in the second one this year.

hmmm the current league has 16 teams by my count… that can easily be decided into a primer division and a standard division.  Would we be allowed more than one team for each player?  I like my gobbo team - and I am learning with each game a longer league would allow me to only get better at playing bloodbowl.  Only playing BB every other year really makes it hard for my old brain to remember crap.  The "bye" week would be nice - (every 4/5th week) or something.

If I felt like I because "solid" at playing my teams - I would definitely be interested in a 2 day event locally.

There are two big problems with more than one team per player.

1) Scheduling against yourself...! If effectively removes one match from the schedule

2) Having throw away teams - in almost every case where I've seen 1 solved somehow you find that people will use one team to spoil for their other. Targeting troublesome players for their other team, etc.

Unless they are in totally separate isolated leagues, then it generally is a bad idea.

Blood bowl doesn't seem to be built on the premise of fun it is built on premise of wac.

But that is I guess the fun part kill kill kill.

It is not for the feint of heart.

I am enjoying myself and already reading up on future teams

If the next BB league is every other week, I would definitely be on board for giving it a whirl. Have been wanting to give it a try for a while, but weekly games is tough to squeeze in with Mordheim, 2 jobs, and keeping the wife happy.

For Christ sake man, get your priorities straight....this is BLOODBOWL!!!!

I see what your problem is.

If you want a demo next Tuesday my opponent is in Hawaii. Otherwise I'll be playing 40k.

Damn loving wife! Completing and ruining my life! ;)

What time Tuesday? I might be able to make that, if you have a team I can borrow (haven't gotten one together yet). Either way, I appreciate the offer!

You are doing a fine job. Why would anyone try to replace you.

Thanks for the hardworking, made a fan of the game.

I would like to see on going mini bowls that could be played over time. That might be a way to handle tiers.
