Guest
Double checking I'm reading it right. AM techpriests can give machine spirit to AM vehicles. If I have a vehicle squadron, I'd give a single vehicle machine spirit with a single techpriest. Therefore, if I had multiple techpriests, I could grant machine spirit to multiple vehicles within the same squadron. Now, if I have 3 leman russ tanks in a single squadron, each given machine spirit by 3 techpriests, I can shoot at 4 total targets (original target+1 weapon of each tank at a new target via machine spirit). This sound right? Furthermore, a Tank commander could use the "Gunners, kill on sight!" tank order, so the same unit could target a 5th total target. The techpriests could all be in the same unit, each independently devoting their shooting attacks to give machine spirit to each tank. Can they be embarked (like in a chimera)? AbusePuppy
You are correct with regards to the shooting targets. I don't believe they can use the ability while embarked- although there is no specific precedent, non-shooting psychic powers cannot be used while on a transport, which implies that such things may not work. However, this is a pretty weak example- it's certainly the sort of thing that could go either way.
WestRider
Now if only there were something like this for DA, that Hammer of Caliban Formation might actually be usable.
AbusePuppy
Hammer of Caliban is good for protecting some Vindicators so they can get off their Ignores Cover megablast. You always use the AV of the closest vehicle until it is destroyed, and being able to front with a Land Raider makes dropping the plate down several times more feasible. (Having the AP3 flamers and assault unit potentially loaded inside the LR doesn't hurt, either.)

I'm leaning towards them being able to while embarked, because the other ability the techpreist has is to repair, which also is instead of shooting and has been FAQed to work while inside transports. The ability also doesn't require line of sight, which further implies the ability to use it while embarked. Still iffy though. Now if only there were something like this for DA, that Hammer of Caliban Formation might actually be usable. The land raider in the formation still retains machine spirit. Not as good, but notable. As for usability, I've used the hammer formation once. Very useable. It really adds flexibility to both units when they are combined. I did the LR as a classic assault boat, with 3 whirlwind protectors. Opponent used the typical DS melta team to land within 6" of the LR, but the LR wasn't the closest model in the vehicle squadron, so his melta unloaded into a whirlwind. LR was fine. Formation also doesn't leak any VP until completely destroyed, which is nifty.
WestRider
The Hammer of Caliban is just so ludicrously expensive that it feels like the rest of the Army needs to build around it, but doesn't feel like it has enough oomph to really anchor an Army like that. The Vindicators probably are the best option there. I was mostly thinking of the PotMS thing for Predators, line 'em up so they've all got the Sponsons aimed at one Unit, and then PotMS the Turrets wherever you need.
