pondering snagging a guarda de assalto thats cheap right now and i got a giftcard to red castle so i might go ahead and snag the remaining 2 pieces.  my goal is to make a CHEAP 10 order list for this sectional and just play this list(that way i can go ahead and get a 3rd in the future lol).  i already picked up 3 regulars(including the sapper sniper) and an old armored cav model(for 17 bucks) to convert to a tikbalang. i just need 3 blisters it looks like to complete this list which is awesome haha.  it lacks a lot of ITS functionality but i really dont care(no doc, engineer or FO... but a hacker can achieve FO objectives its just trickier!).  i actually like the list.  its what i think of with pan-o and just having a stupid amount of firepower.  essentially 4 models can have bs14 or higher?  i think the only thing id add on in the future is maybe bagh mari as they are kinda the heart and soul of the faction.  but im going to be patient for those pieces and hope maybe for some new sculpts within a year or so.  here's the list, i have tactics in mind but im not giving them away :P  i also really want to make the knight of montesa work.  everyone LOVES to just pour the haterade on about the guarda and montesa so my goal is to make them work!

played against RD tonight and had some fun.  tried something different in being annoying with thorakitai link move then drop out in suppression.  i really liked it how silly and annoying it was!  scylla died on a sacrificial run to kill his TR bot and specialists sitting next to him.  i fell for eric's sneaky filthy nomad scheme of smoking myself out and giving his intruder smoke cover from all my templates and suppression fire.  he promptly murdered everything, as he should(think i forgot to roll dodges... forgot you do get dodges through smoke as a reaction!  not like it mattered, they were toast anyways lol).   his intruder killed i think 2 myrmidons, pheonix and 2 thorakitai.  nasty.  luckily i had thrasymedes not in view.  machaon got his objectives.  he will be scary to use in this scenerio due to the point structure!  need to be super careful with him.  fun game as always.  lots of bloodshed, mostly on my side of the table lol.  

 

RD also gave me a haiduk that i apparently got for 3rd place.  really thankful he picked that out for me as i didnt expect to get anything that tournament since i peaced out early so thanks a lot RD!  that pretty much solidified me doing shas as my third run sometime.  that one i am definitely waiting on new sculpts as rumors are strong they will get a restructure sometime within a year or so.  looking through their rules and ugh they are really strange.  definitely a sectional ill be happy to do when im a more experienced player!  just really love their camo spam, speculo and their TAG!

Garret is a really great acon player and has told me that learning that knight will make for an awesome opening strike!

yea idk how people think a spec shooting grenade launcher with essentially infiltration and BS14 isnt 'great'.  combined with a zero-vis grenade launcher to allow him to move farther forward and i think its 'not bad'  :rolleyes:

So spent a total of 72 bucks on my acon group. I shopped clearances over 2 months and finished off with a couple purchases of a guarda de assalta and acon starter from red castle. Have a armored cav for tikbalang and 3 other regulars, including snapper snipper to complete. My agenda hopefully in next year is to get an airbrush and stage from TDT.

new achilles profile:

essentially gains 2 ARM to ARM 6, Forward deployment, downs kinematics to L1, downs ODD to mimetism, gains DEP in multi rifle profile...

i mean its a cool change, but really i dont think ill ever be using that profile.  id rather have additional -3 to hit than +2ARM.  i also really like the kinematica L2.  forward deployment is awesome as that allows you to wreck havoc faster.  the only time i might use it is for that DEP fun, which is more for kicks as it is not reliable at all.  overall i give it a 'meh', but the multi rifle version now does seem more fun to use!

noticing a very big trend in rules questions online AND when i look things up:

both online and from things i look up a lot: seems like majority of rules questions on skills/abilities are answered by looking up and seeing the usage type for them.  like whether they are short skill/aro/full order.   for example, speculative fire and intuitive attack are entire order things and seems like people make mistakes thinking you can move along with performing them and questions pertain to that but really its irrelevant because you cant move when performing spec shots/intuitive attack.  discover is weird in that its an aro BUT its a special short movement skill as well which is why you can perform a discover+shoot.  so knowing the time of order seems to be the answer to many rules questions that follow about them.  for example, surprise shot/surprise attack(im looking at you ya sneaky ninjas!) is only listed as a short skill NOT an aro.  so you cant actually apply surprise modifiers as an aro... 

another rules thing i see a lot and pertains to timing.  no dice are rolled until the entire order is complete.  remembering the order is fluid is important in your decisions.  you cant throw smoke, lay the template down and then move somewhere that a person would have LoF to you in the same order and expect to be safe.  the smoke isnt laid down until the completion of the full order so it would actually become a face to face.  smoke would be waaaay OP if that were the case.  also, if someone moves and you reveal a TO marker, REMEMBER when you move you gain 360 vision so they can see you if they declare a movement skill(but not if say they do a spec shot... weird huh?)!  and they could indeed shoot you back even if you are facing their back because you revealed your aro during their movement.  thinking fluidly i think is the TOUGHEST part of this game and knowing those silly tabs next to the skill and what they imply.  just some food for thought :) i still feel like i dont know jack about this game yet hahaha. which is probably why i like it...

you were correct i cheated when i aro spotlight on ya in the last tounery. just looked it up. my bad wasnt remotely intentional :)

naaaah its not a big deal to me at all!  heck im sure i made more mistakes!  i look forward to our next (hopefully full... seriously feel bad about that!) game as a technical player and sports-wise you are a treat to play against!

rampage tomorrow.  excited to throw dice with old friends and hangout again!  ill be rocking my aleph but with a list with a slight twist from the regular list(pretty similar though).  everyone knows who i play as my lieutenant so its a good chance to mix that up a bit lol.  also helped me paint up a model i havent played in a loooong time(sophotect).  playing without a TR bot as i want to learn how to deal without one(its a good learning experience day!).  especially with taking up acon next and ill be playing without one regularly!

So this was my pretty significant switchup!  i dropped macky and zayin to essentially put in sophie and naga hacker from previous list.  generally i dont run 3 dakini and instead have something else there like scylla.  anyways i had obvious lieutenant situation but kinda cheeky as you had to know aleph VERY well because noone runs a dasyu as a Lt.... funny story: 3 of the 4 opponents knew it was the dasyu lol. nice plan nate...
 
FOREWARNING: this is going to be a pretty pathetic BR as my brain is shot and i cant remember very much(also might be the scotch... but ill blame it on 'being tired' :P ).
 
first game:  against the overall winner, senor nakedpanda!  we played the heal the pathetic civvies.  funny story: we talked about our lists beforehand so knew quite a bit about what was going on... so you get 2 points for healing a cronie(there's 4 scattered in rediculous areas in the middle), 1 point for killing a doc, 1 point for killing a Lt, -1 for accidental cronie death, -2 for [big bad swear word]ing with your opponent and killing the cronies purposely. naked panda had a verrrrry nasty list.  su jian or as i would like to call him 'megatron, the super transformer' with kuang shi spam to feed him.  then second group had celestrial guard link with imperial agent and a few other cronies that i neglect except one very important piece with a light smoke grenade launcher THAT I ONCE AGAIN overlooked... i forget who won the roll but i ended up going first and had the side with heavy terrain while he had side with sparse terrain. i put 3 camo markers pretty close to midfield with the dasyu on top of a buiding.  everyone else was pretty back.  had deva and myrmidon on a building that had connections that gave a good look at the board.  another funny story: i ended up playing 3 times on this table in a row and honestly i think i deployed VERY similarly each time with only switching my camo markers for hacker/mine/minelayer.  except when things had to start on ground 2nd game... but onto this game!  i think we got through 1 turn and then played super dooper fast through 2 rounds for scoring so we werent SoL.  i moved a ton of things forward.  put naga minelayer near his celestrial guard and his grenade launcher dude.  layed a mine to make his life difficult and put him back in camo within 8 of most of his things in middle board.  brought on garuda, moved naga hacker up and i think a dakini.  also moved dasyu on top of building to edge.  put all in suppressive fire and said 'please come out su jian we want to play!'.  
his turn, 'oh why yes i would like to play, let me put some smoke down!'  fuuuuu****.  dumb nate lol.  i should have dealt with that smoke dude... long story short: he failed i think 2 or 3 smoke attempts before getting it laid down and doing it again with ease.  su jian was safe from i think 3 of the 4 so he came out and shot at i think the dakini or the naga.  thinking the naga....  well naga critted.  i think something else dropped him as welll.  he used his helper bot to bring him back up.  them he came in and killed a few pieces before climbing up next to dasyu.  dasyu died to my frustration but eh happens.  so we were short on time for turn 2.  im in LoL.  spend command tokens to make regular orders to score 1 more(sorry sophie got one first turn).  i know i killed his doc or Lt during his turn but he tried to do something and failed doing it.  fuzzy times as i forget the rest...  think he scored one of the objectives though along with killing my Lt.  being first game i cant remember toooo much about it.  i could have risked a paramedic for scoring objectives but i wasnt going to risk a dice of 7 or under when in the lead.  all i know is the score ended up being 5-3 AI.
 
second game was against than.  so he's an aleph player and plays SP.  he knew who my Lt was AS WELL.  so yep lol.  i played dasyu cautiously in more of my backline this time.  this objective was high ground where you scored via whoever had the model on the highest point that turn.  i deployed pretty similarly.  he went first.  i knew he plays ekromoi-esque drop troops so i was ready to take that to the face lol.  we've played a few times and he had whooped me pretty bad the previous times.  so the start came off rough, as expected when you play against steel.  he had the myrmidon pheonix link and thrasymedes link.  also an agema sniper.  he also had diomedes in his second group.  kinda similar to my steel list except a few differences as he runs diomedes and agema and i run scylla + TR bot.  so yea he discover destroyed the naga line pretty well.  left only the BS minelayer left unscaved.  brought the myrmidons up the middle tower.  brought diomedes super jumping on the highest tower in right zone.  he played excellently to start i think.  his dice were VERY bad this game and mine were quite hot.  strangely very different than our previous games!  so i knew the game really relied on my deva msv2 spitfire.  he had a looooot of work to do this game.  he started off going up a bridge and approaching the agema as it had me locked down pretty good and was the main threat to my camo i had left.  unfortunately for me at the EXACT point i could see the agema so could thrasymedes.  so i had to risk long range aros from him hitting on low BUT with 2 burst while i emptied 4 shots into the agema.  he missed(i never hit with thrasymedes either so i was banking on that lol) and i killed the agema.  took some long range shots with deva at thraysmedes but he ducked into cover, notably killing 1 thorakitai with a naga BS shot(as he had LoS to what i would do next..).  i then did a really sneaky and douchey thing with my mk2.  ran her up the stairs.  it was notably a 2 story building with stairs next to each other and diomedes sitting in corner on first story.  so i climbed where diomedes couldnt see her(he was in suppression, not good news for mk2)... scoring 3 points.  next turn things really went bad for than luck wise.  diomedes had an assault pistol.  i wont f2f twice and took him down with mk2.  some amazing luck there... i mean it that was game changing.  i forgot to say that pheonix took a wound from deva first turn and the hacker went down.  he healed up the link to restore.  keeping things out of reach of deva while staying prone trying to be in scoring postiion i believe.  he uses macky so much better than i do...  pheonix finally got through against the deva but i made 2/3 saves and saved the fire roll to keep NWI.  drop prone.  i love courage... as i said things were just going my way dice wise cause i think than's strategy was solid.  we were only going to get through 2 turns so he rushed machaon up to the top of the large tower(forget how he killed the mk2 but he did... think it was pheonix as he is pheonix lol).  so i had 6 orders... had to go all out trying to kill macky and score.  used all 3 of my remaining tokens rushing up the stairs with dasyu and dakinis/sophotect.  6-4 movement was my savior.... at the end of those 3 i chipped one wound off macky.  had to finish him off.... h got smoke off on the 4 order.  laid a mine with 5th.  intuitive attack.  got him i think with one order left... wasting the order to score.  so was 6-0 i think.
 
3rd game, Jay and his filthy little JSA.   it was loot mission with 10 tokens scattered with -3 except to hackers and engineers. i was shocked to not see a oyorroi across from me as im use to seeing it!  means i was thinking 'ah [big bad swear word] he has at least 2 ninjas/oniwabon/drop troops'.  side note, JSA dont have drop troops... im an idiot lol.  so he made me go first with a smirk on his face.  i was thinking 'crap when are the ninjas coming out...'.  there's nothing that makes a person more paranoid than ninjas as i kept asking 'any aros?' in silly situations.  so haramaki link team.  had to deal with it... so playing without my TR bot and not have msv2 smoke or TO sniper makes dealing with link teams like that... dicey.  brought garuda on and took a shot.  unfortunately due to placement of terrain he got 2 guys ARO cause i couldnt split pie.  he also had better odds of hitting by 1BS i believe.  so really not good odds... i somehow got stupidly lucky and got a wound on the missile launcher, which was the main issue.  i decided i needed to take another approach so i rushed the naga hacker up and isolated the missile launcher.  so apparently they are extreme impetuous and boy did that backfire ugh ha.  i scored i think 2 or 3 tokens that round though(thanks sophie and naga hacker on way up).  hacker got hacked to pieces(actually went dogged but he was smart and let it be til he died).  ugh assault blowwwwws lol.  he brought on the oniwaban to kill my sophotect.  noting it took 3 orders to do so.  that was lucky on my part.  think he brought his domaru slightly forward to press me a bit with a chain rifle.  not sure what else happened... maybe revealed shinobu this round but failed miserably doing whatever she did(he said this was a trend during the tournament).  my turn i went for 3 objectives suicide running the mk1 in the process.  mk2 got an objective as well.   his turn he turned to shinobu trying to do an objective(we later found out she couldnt do it anyways) but failed and mk2 put her down in a face to face.  he chained with domaru on minelayer i think which minelayer dodged a time or two before dying.  he then attempted to get the link  team up but didnt have enough cash to do so.  so ended 6-0 to the wires and plugs!
last game.  against yet another nate.  who also played aleph and knew my lieutenant lol.  jay was the only one who didnt i think!  i probably should stop playing that risky...  nate is a fellow iowan and a nomad player.  he had a pretty freaking nasty list.  2 morans, at least one intruder but possibly 2 as he didnt reveal the other camo marker but points wise i think it was another intruder.  bandit hacker.  then had an agaucile link team and a panzer duder that i forget what it was but probably an agaucile.  in the agaucile link he had zoey and a missile launcher and hmg.  he also had some drop troop character dude.   the intruder was a sniper.  he also had smoke source for him that i forget...  so i took first turn and this was the trash mission.  this was a mission that honestly i was not looking forward to as i only had 3 potential scorers who can be quite vulnerable.  morans essentially faced off against nagas in deployement basically hovering around 8 inches of each other.  i put dasyu prone and out of site as this was just a really bad matchup to even be using her for.  his deployment was super solid.  mine was ok except idk wtf i was doing with my naga hacker as he couldnt see anything from his location.  so my turn 1.  he strips me of 2 from main group.  leaves me with 8 orders and my thought was alright i can score easily and come back in good position with 8 orders.  first thought was to smoke protect myrmidon(possible setting up deva if things get messy) then throw smoke in a corridor that would block his missile and panzers from shooting the dakini as the go do trash.  so i failed 3 straight phys 16 rolls.  i knew my good luck couldnt last that long lol.  so had a dilemma now.  had to pray i could succeed 2 more smokes and that i could score 3 dudes in 2 orders.  man i really love how fast dakini are.  otherwise this would be impossible.  unfortunately they were pretty strung out to dry.  and were in a line after scoring.  garuda came on near the left dakinis to protect in suprressive with the moran nearby.  well nate stupidly forgot that it has a boarding shotgun.  so yes take a guess what happened.  killed the dakini lol.  and he killed the other dakini with the droop troop.  notably none were dead dead just unconcious but still sophie was only one who could save them and was not in a good position to do so. i was frustrated at this point as i just really dug my own grave this game and my opponent was making me pay for it like a good player does.   he killed a bunch of orders in the netrods and flash bot with his intruder.  so i had 2 orders in second group and 6 in first for turn 2.  we were only going to finish this turn as time was short again.  this was 'hail mary' time as the only thing i could do really was make it difficult for him to score.  so really it was LOL can i make a stupid amount of saves and have stupid luck.  guess what.  i had stupid luck lol.  so everything turned around.  hacker stood up.  came forward still in camo.  he discovered but i was pretty far forward.  had to eat the crazy koalas.  and went with face to face against missile launcher and hmg up close.  they went with pistols.  was able to drop hmg.  i saved both koalas and shrugged off a pistol.  then killed the missile launcher after going dogged.  deva put a wound on lupe to make her dogged.  so that collapses the link.  killed panzer as well.  then naga minelayer dodged two koalas.  killed something else but i forget.  garuda was immobilized as bandit popped out.  think that was it except deva came forward to VERY notably cover the entry to the trash.  he popped up intruder to try and kill deva.  deva took it to the face but only got a wound through so NWI and failed guts to move to total cover yet notably not in LoS of intruder and viewing the trashcan still.  so he brought aguaciles up which died in ARO to the deva.  thats pretty much how it ended... 3-0 AI
so got a total of 20 points it looks like battle wise which i was quite happy with.  
list worked way higher than expectations and luck was fairly on my side.  i cant remember total points but had 64 or something and came in a large tie group for 4th i think.  the beers afterwards were awesome with a lot of laughs.  gonna miss you guys if i end up moving soon!

after next sunday, ill be breaking out the shock army!  i got them assembled and primed yesterday.  going to paint these guys super slow to do a 'slightly mediocre' instead of 'lol terrible' job on them... have 6 regulars(1 sapper), 1 combi bagh mari, 1 sikh commando, 1 montessa, 1 tikbalang, 1 guarda de assalto.  then my 3 nagas which i will rotate to mess with people lol.  should be a fun change i think.  definitely different strategy than aleph..
