Don't Panic
Second week, Starting November 17th Scenerio 2 INVADE!!! We will be using 1000 points. Add up the cost of units that are TOTALLY in your opponents half of the board at the end of turn 6. If the difference is greater than 100 points in your favor then you are granted sweet victory! Bonus point for getting your slowest moving unit(randomly selected if you have multiple) across the middle of the board. Must be movement 6 or below to count! They do not have to live but just achieve this feat! 1 Bonus point if you prevent your opponent from this objective! (cumulative!) come on down guys! i know there's other guys out there feeling the itch! get those movement trays and square bases moving again! Also, for those that attended last week i totally forgot the scoresheets in my bag... ugh. if you want to send me them by PM/on here that would be great! otherwise ill bring them this week for you to fill out both weeks. Bham
How far did this league get? Someone willing to give it another go if it petered out?
Brother Glacius
The league sort of hit at a bad time. I love KoW and was trying to get it going for a while, and then RL took priority over gaming. However, I am pretty much now in a position to game again. I would be more than happy to toss down some KoW. The main places to play in Portland are GG and WoW. I think Tuesdays at WoW could work. I don't know the GG schedule that night, but WoW is typically open that evening.
Bham
Correct me if I am wrong.. but GG is free and WoW costs?
Brother Glacius
Yes. GG though is quite often packed and getting a table is not possible unless you reserve ahead of time. If you join WoW, then it is only $2 a night and that goes towards keeping WoW open. But WoW pretty much will always have a table, and has great terrain....the only issue with WoW are the miscreants who go there ;)
Don't Panic
yea :( we ended up having just peanut and I playing most weeks(rcnjack came generally too). then peanut quit miniature gaming... so yup. i do think it was mostly bad timing. hope to see someone else give it a shot. id come. just a little sad after the first failed attempt.... maybe ill run another later this year. Bham
What happened to the WHFB crowd in general? Are they trying "unofficial 9th?" AoS, or give up in general? Maybe if we rotate between stores, we can get a larger following?
Andrewgeddon
What happened to the WHFB crowd in general? Are they trying "unofficial 9th?" AoS, or give up in general? Maybe if we rotate between stores, we can get a larger following? I think a lot of them went on to other, non "fantasy" style gaming systems. We seem to have small groups for AoS / KoW / 9th Age, but I think a lot of the guys went to Infinity. Speaking for myself, I pretty much just went back into 40K and GW specialist games (Blood Bowl / Mordheim). That being said, I've played a game of KoW and am eager to give it another try. I've also been mulling over trying out 9th Age, just haven't had a ton of time for it lately.
Brother Glacius
I love KoW. It plays well and has a decent amount of depth to it. I was a bit intimidated by the meta of 8th, and 9th seems to be in the same vein. Plus, I have to learn 9th. AoS has some neat ideas in it, but it carries the GW "screw you WFB players" taint to it...plus the lack of a balance system bugs me on a fundamental level. I like what Mantic is doing and their new models are getting better and better. Lots of the WFB guys switched over to Infinity. I don't see them coming to KoW.
Myster2
The more I play KoW the deeper the gameplay gets. The rules are not that difficult but the game itself is well designed imo.
