MikhailLenin
Problem with that Piranah formation is when one gets immobilized and not within 6" of the board egde, it loses the ability to refuel
AbusePuppy
Actually, since you can abandon an immobilized vehicle that is part of a squadron (separating it from the unit), that just gives you a free bonus model that sits on the field. I mean, yeah, that guy can't jet away to refuel and get more drones, sure, but when the squad leaves his identical twin brother is able to do so.
MikhailLenin
The formation rules indicate all units from the Formation you have applying a lot of liberal reading into leaving an immobilized Pirannah behind results in it no longer being a unit of the formation there buddy. Either way the cheapest Aux in the Dawn Blade is the Air Cadre Asset which is only one flyer.

It says that all models from a unit in the formation have to be within 6" of the edge to fly off. When you abandon an immobilized, by the definition of doing so it is no longer counted as a model in the unit. That model is still part of the formation, of course, but you don't have to fly off all models in the formation- just all models in one unit. I don't see how you can argue that an abandoned model is both part of the unit (to prevent you from flying off) and also not part of a unit (because you no longer have to fire at the same target, remain in coherency with it, etc.)

A Techmarine can't repair it generating you an additional squadron through squadron mitosis?
MikhailLenin
Puppt I aint arguing its part of the unit, I am arguing that its still part of the formation.
pretre
Puppt I aint arguing its part of the unit, I am arguing that its still part of the formation. It lets you leave by unit from the battlefield. So as long as the whole unit is within 6" of the edge, they can split. The immobilized one is in a new unit so doesn't matter. pretre
Even more fun. I have 3 piranhas. One gets immobilized within 6" of a table edge. I move the other two outside of coherency and leave it behind but still within 6" of a table edge. I pull two separate units off the battlefield (A unit of 1 and a unit of 2). Do I come back with two full units?
AgentP
I question how great it is. You lose a turn of shooting with them, pulling them off the board in the movement phase. And games can easily end in 3-4 turns.

pretre
So can Techmarines use their ability to repair Tau Vehicles? Techmarines can repair friendly vehicles. So, if the Tau vehicle is Friendly, then yes.
InfestedKerrigan
I believe the Ally rules make them treated as Enemy units for the purposes of buffs, so I'd assume that is a negative ghost rider.

pretre
Correct that would be perfectly okay in the RAW Exponentially increasing piranha squads! Every turn, just make sure to end up in difficult terrain near a board edge. :)
