smashthedean
They just put up a blog post that explains it better than I can, but the short version is that 9th Age has plans and support for being an ongoing game with new units and supported models being released into the future. I know one of the big worries a lot of people had over the Warhammer remakes that were coming out was that they wouldn't be ongoing things, but with this announcement, 9th Age has overcome that hurdle. Everyone who hasn't yet needs to check out this game! http://www.the-ninth-age.com/news/index.php?news/147-existing-and-new-models-usable-with-the-9th-age/
Prophecy
It would be awesome if they picked up Avatars of War and Gamezone miniatures. Fireforge games would also be a nice score or even reaper minis.
dkieft
Interesting. What are they doing story-wise? I suspect GW will get all uppity if they show any success using the Old World fluff.
valourunbound
They will have a brand new story. It is currently being worked on, and they don't really want to show it until it is done.
smashthedean
Here's a quote from one of the guys on the background and art team that sums it up pretty well: I think copyright-wise, a new fluff is the only possible option. I don't think the fluff needs to be as fully developed as the Warhammer world was though - many people will imagine their armies as being in the Warhammer world, regardless of GW's thoughts on the matter. If fluff is to be developed, I think it should be there to emphasise the themes of the armies, and also to highlight how they come into conflict. Enclaves of Wild Elves in forests around the world, Dwarves running mercantile outposts, Goblin caravans, Orc Waaaghs, Brittonium crusades. The fluff should focus less on making a map, and more on giving us inspiration for the stories we want to make with our own armies.
Sherbert
awesome, this should really help to boost 9th age.
fluger
Not going to lie, 9th Age might bring me back to Fantasy.
smashthedean
It really is a great project and it's only getting better as they get more playtest data and bring all of the armies into balance with each other. I'm pretty excited for the big update they're doing on 12/8.

fluger
I had a dream last night that I borrowed Jim's weird Dark Elf army (and I was sad because I didn't have my own army anymore) to play against someone, but we were at a movie theatre and I had pizza delivered, but then the dream shifted and I was delivering the pizza. Anyway, let's just say that 9th Age is on my mind.
Fixxer
9th age does look totally awesome now. I knew it would take some time for them to get everything together and I really like what they've done with the game. Ill be ready for some games soon. YES! Soon!!

smashthedean
New rules update just came out today which was mostly an external balance pass based on tournament data they've gotten so far. I've been looking it over all morning and am liking the changes I see!
valourunbound
You appear to be the only person on the planet who believes that (according to the T9A forum). Armies have to be nerfed in order to achieve balance. If they just kept buffing armies to get them to the same level, we'd have Warmachine :)
smashthedean
Yeah, it was basically a big nerfbat all around, which I'm happy about. Also it helps that VC were a lower tier army in 0.9 so came out in pretty good shape ;)
Kremmet
I think the best v0.10 change log goes to Infernal Dwarfs: Shield cost for core units

Cause then our dreams just crossed...
