Thanks everyone. I will be back on my feet in no time, just taking a couple days to get organized, clean up around home, and get my head on straight.  

 

Tonight I made it up to Fate and Fury for the first night of their league.  In preparation for the limited insertion event in Seattle, the goal was for everyone to use 10 order lists.   So I got to test out my 10 man Ariadna power list!   I played against George and his MO list which consisted of a magister link led by a hospitaller doctor, a father knight duo with boarding shotgun and FO, a teutonic knight lieutenant, a hacker, and a spitfire bulleteer.   We both did a good job of taking models off each turn, but int he last turn I was able to get my few remaining specialists into contact with some objectives.   It was a great game, would do again.   Also, it was good to see George turn my favorite trick of a bulleteer with marksmanship against me!  Things are scary as hell!!


Takeaway from tonight's game:
-Vet Zazaks are amazing.  The Paramedic scored a point for me early on and took out the bulleteer in the process (before taking a panzerfaust to the face!), and the T2 rifle was absolutely clutch against all of the multi-wound knights running around. 
-Camo units are great, but can also be fragile.  I lost a few of my best men to discovers or good shooting rolls, so I need to remember that just because they have the extra mods does not make them immortal.

-Exclusion zones are rough on an army with lots of infiltrators!  It didn't mess up anything major, but I could really feel the pain of not being able to deploy beyond 16 inches.  It makes minelayers a lot less effective at gumming up the midfield, as they can hardly even reach it.

Going to be bringing out the MO for next week's 400 point massacre down in Sherwood.  It will be a nice break from Ariadna, and I always have fun playing with Pano.   List 1 should look something like this.

In addition I'd like to bring a list with the Seraph, but when the other side has access to so many heavy weapons a light TAG becomes a lot less appealing.  Besides, the one above is just so lovely!

The 2 Djan. that I am keeping went together very nicely.  The doctor model is a bit rough where the left arm with a bag connects to the body in the back, but it's nothing that can't be puttied.   Honestly, I could get away with leaving it as is and no one would be the wiser.   The arms on the shock marksman rifle lined up very well, making it the first model in that style that hasn't made me want to throw a brick out of a window.  They will both make excellent Veteran Kazaks.

Played against Justin the league last night, trying to clear mines and such.  Ended up bringing this list so that I could break out the vet kazak.

It ended with each of us having 2 mines collected, but he had a model further into my side of the table.  I definitely had the chance to get some more mines, but failed more dodge rolls that I would like to admit.   In the end I just didn't have enough to fight back, and Justin was able to tie on mines and drop in some dudes in the last turn.  As a highlight I did get to splatter his lieutenant with 2 hits from a T2 rifle, 4 wounds kills a Ghulam pretty damn fast!  Good game, would do again!

Assembled the Spec Ops model that RD gave me on Sunday.   It's a cool model with lots of options in the pack, I ended up going with just the knife and empty hand so that he can count for a multitude of load outs.   The Spec Ops should work great as a line kazak, or even an infiltrator of some sort.  

 

Hoping to get some painting done today after my exit interview from work, but currently I'm sitting in the car as the boss is late!  I will have to decide on a model to start with so I can get an idea of what will work on them paint-wise.   The Zoauve from the MRRF started makes for a good Dozer, and I have them sprayed with black and then camo green from above.   That will be test 1, the second will probably be a cheerleader model which is just base-coated in black.  If the green-spray works it will safe a ton of time overall, if not I will just have to get some more time in the painting chair!

Successfully removed the Djanbazan and Haqq logos from the shoulders of my Vet Kazaks and got them primed.   Painting progress is slow as I got distracted in the kitchen and started some chicken stock on the stove and also made beef and onion empanadas.  One of these days I'll paint, I swear!

Played a limited insertion game against Vancouver Justin's NCA tonight at Fate and Fury.   He brought a solid NCA list with a fusilier link, swiss guard missile launcher, uhlans, and some specialists.  I brought this one.

He took first turn so I set up mostly in the shadows, hoping to not give any shots against my precious camo force.   I didn't make any AROs, and let him get into position.   His locust managed to grab one of the supply boxes after overcoming several orders worth of Panoceanian WIP disorder.   In my turn I had Uxia bust out and take down the locust, then my chasseur FO came to claim the supply box and pulled it back to my side of the board.  My Spetsnaz was in position to get eyes on the link team, and took out the missile launcher and 2 other members.   In Justin's turn he moved the Uhlan forward and got in position in my back line, then went into suppressive.  Before he did my paramedic Kazak was lucky enough to take just 1 wound from a round of HMG shots.   For my second turn I focused on the Uhlans, and between a coordinated order and a lot of HMG fire, I took of it's final wound.   Uxia moved up and took out another fusilier, but his doctor made a great dodge and avoided some shotgun blasts.  In Justin's final turn he made a go for one of the supply crates with an engineer, but I finally got to bust out the auto cannon and took him out in one shot.   In my last turn Uxia made a whoopsie and got hit in the head with a combi, my auto cannon wanted to duel with the TO missile launcher and lost, but I managed to take out his doctor who held an objective in the center of the board, and held onto mine.  With classifieds included it ended with an 8-1 win for Ariadna.   

It was a blast playing, and everyone up at Fate and Fury is great.  hopefully I will be able to make it up there for more games!


The major takeaway from this game was that taking a hearty, HMG-toting lieutenant is awesome.  3/10 of my models had HMGs, and I still had room for other heavy and diverse weaponry.   Looking forward to more games with this kind of list!

I won't be able to heal a remote/tag, immobilize/solate anyone, or anything else that requires hacking.  However, at 200 points I think this gives me a good toolbox to try and complete the checklist items that RD put up.

First game was firefight against Matt and his Combined Army.  The game was over in turn two, as I was able to take out his LT and a large number of his other units.  In his defense, I think this was his third game ever, and I was really set up in a can-opener position.  Stick with combined though!  Not many people in the area play vanilla CA, and if you master them then people will have no idea how to play you.

The next games was against Ariadna, and it was a camo-on-camo beatdown.   His list had a lot of what mine did, but with a few differences (Mormaers instead of tank hunters, a cateran sniper in the mix).   It was a bloody match that ended with me narrowly getting the win 4-3.  He had a winder range of objectives, but I snuck out the 4 points for killing more points for of models.  In his defense, he forgot to put a model on the board during deployment and robbed himself of it's effectiveness.  With that in mind, let's call it a draw!

Really enjoying playing up at fate and fury.  If anyone has Thursday nights free then try to make it up.

I put up a good fight against Darren, but not a good enough fight!   I got a Chasseur into his backfield and took out maybe one guy, but ended up being knocked out, FO'd, and coup de grace'd in the next turn.  My other Chasseur got me a point for FO, which would be my only point for the round.   I spent a lot of time trying to kill what I suspected to be the LT, but since I don't know Yu-Jing very well I was going after the wrong target.  It didn't help that he made exactly five million army saves in our game :)    In the final turn I went for my paramedic point (which I had spent several orders failing already), and ended up killing my LT to give Darren another point!

Against Eric things went very differently.  It was one of those games were everything worked for me, and nothing did for him.   In the first turn I ran my Renegade right up the middle of the board, then split his chain rifles in different directions.  This not only crippled both of his links, but also knocked out his only 2 doctors on the board.   After that my Spetsnaz moved up and put his Az'rail down with a lucky 2 wounds.   Eric began to move up with his remaining Sekban, killed a Chasseur, and then brought his Bashi onto the board.   Unfortunately the Bashi failed to wound my Metro paramedic, and his turn ended with the Bashi out in the open.   I brought my paratrooper onto the board on the other side of a crate just behind his Sekban, then moved my LT out and took both of them out.   One was just unconscious, which gave my paratrooper a chance to FO and the CdG him.   Eric moved his Odalisque into group one and came after my Spetsnaz.  I can't remember if he took him out or not, but that was about all that happened in the turn.  In my final turn I used the paratrooper to assault his remaining Ghulams.  After a lot of back-and-forth fire, I managed to take out what happened to be the LT.   Eric started his last turn in retreat and LoL, and we called it.   


Both games were fun, and in one of them my dice were on fire.   Looking forward to getting some more in next week, might change the list around but might not.
