  1. So my 21" monitor died on my yesterday and I'm in the market for a new one. I want to pick it up today, so that limits my options somewhat. I will most likely just go to my local BestBuy and pick something up. For the money though, I saw some very nice sized TV's that might fit the bill.

When I'm comparing a 27" monitor to a 40" TV for the same price...and both have PC inputs...what am I missing? Why not go for the TV if I have room for it?

    1) Pixel density.

    2) The TV will have muuuuuuuuuuuuch higher input lag. On some TVs it can be in excess of 200ms, compared to 10-40 on monitors.

    3) Defects become very noticeable and far more likely, such as back light bleed, or stuck/dead pixels.

    4) Speed. It's really hard to find TVs that are able to run at 1080p/120Hz+, typically only found in very specific 4K TVs. On top of that, they generally are only able to display that using HDMI 2.0, which is only found on the newest NVIDIA cards. Things like Displayport or even Dual Link DVI are far more universal on PCs.

    What's your budget?

  2. Yeah, it's in the AoS forum, but I'd be down for some 40k as well.

I live in Bend, just moved here.

I'll check out and join that Facebook group, tyvm!

If I can't find some 40k or AoS to play, I'll probably have to dive into Warmachine/Hordes, because that seems to have a good following here.

  3. There's a pretty neat looking store here in Bend, but I haven't seen anyone playing GW stuff there.

Most of the groups I've found online seem defunct or dead, so just curious if anyone in Deschutes is on Ordo or knows of a group around these parts.

  4. Step 1) Get some marijuana.

    Step 2) Wear a Bernie T Shirt

Step 3) Go into a forest near Olympia.

Step 4) Smoke said marijuana blatantly.

Step 5) Watch as the hippies start to congregate around.

Step 6) Tell the chosen victim that they're invited to your Poetry Slam/Protest against privilege.

Guaranteed you'll be headed home with at least 100-200 lbs of Geoduck.

  5. Yeah, I've been doing reading over the past month. I didn't really have any interest in 8th. I have to admit, the size format of AoS is what piqued my curiosity. I'm waiting for those comp rules to come out before really diving in.

Plus, I moved to Bend, OR, so my access to a large pool of players is not what it once was :P
