I'm an avid board gamer and have been helping to run local X-Wing tournaments. I've been in the area for about 15 years and love learning and teaching new board games. I have been designing my own games for my personal enjoyment since 3rd grade.

  3. Hey all, I'm running a competitive 100pt x-wing tournament at 12:00 Saturday at Cosmic Comics. We had great turn out last time and this time should be a blast because of all the new lists we'll see with the new Scum and Force Awakens options. $5 fee that goes to prizes, 3 rounds so you can be on your way by dinner time, little promos and big fun. We'll do some fun random prizes too. RSVP on their Facebook page so I can make sure there are enough spots for you.

  4. Oh yeah,

    "mission 8"

Play as either 250 points of imperial or 200 points of rebel plus three transports each with combat retrofit for free (two of which you have to get off the other side of the board to win) which gives them +1 shield + 2 hull

If you send me your dream team list for either side I can put it together and have it assembled before we play.

I have a list for either side so pick whatever.

That's pretty epic though so if you wanted to do the hoth campaign we could just just the first scenario of that which is 125 rebel points escorting a transport. Vs 100 imperial points (any unique pilots shot down can be used for future campaign missions).

  5. we on for next week?

Yes I should be good for that and I'll let you know if my work schedule doesn't cooperate. Are we campaigning, epic, or standard (I have a lot of free time time at work so let me know and I'll have fun making a list.

  6. No worries intrizic,

I have time for one x-wing game today between 5-6:00 before I run off to a birthday party.

If someone's got that time free let me know what format and I'll have it set up to go at 5:00. If no ones free I'll be back next week and see y'all after wave 4 drops.

Kogre you can have first dibs if you want it

  7. So Tantive IV is out. Anyone up for an epic game of X-wing? You probably have 300pts but if you don't I have ships that can fill out your fleet and I have extra transports if you want to run some huge ships. I have a new storage system so set up should be much faster. Let me know if I should come down.

  8. I have printed some copies of the Hoth campaign mission sheets for pre building your squads (imperial) or your fleet of options (rebel).  Time obviously doesn't allow us to play all 3 in a row so I thought it would be fun to have whoever wanted to pick a side take a sheet, build a list, and then as schedules permit work our way through the campaign over several weeks at our leisure.  Multiple people could be working through the campaign with each other at the same time.

I'm excited for this format cause there are some new weights and balances in play..."If I run away with Han now but still complete the mission I can use him next game"..."If I load up these bombers and break that GR-75 I can deny them the use of Biggs in the next mission"..."my Advanced ties stick around longer than an interceptor when trying to wear down a transport"..."I'm going to run over Bobba Fett" :)   I think we need a white playmate for this Hoth thing too.

Excited about the transport but I'll build a list for both sides.

Just casual, just for fun.  Let me know if you want a sheet and I'll pass one along.

  9. smashthedean, that is one of the best summaries of the two styles I've read.

I think it's a little more finically intensive to start an imperial army, but with 4 solid ships you can field a good rebel team.

I like running rebels, my brain is small and I have less to think about.   If I played way more games I think i could be a good interceptor pilot (well flown Sontir Fel makes me want to quit the game or run two falcons everytime).

Also whenever an x-wings superior firepower crushes a tie fighter I hear all the appropriate sound effects in my head at the same time.  Now that the big rebel ships are coming out its going to be hard to get me to play imperial.

  10. Hey anyone available early for some epic X-wing?  I'm obsessed with these rebel transports and want to run "Mission Scenario #8".  It's played on a 4x3 with multiple transports needing to make the jump to hyperspace before 250 points of Imperial madness puts them down on the surface of Hoth for good.

I need someone with a couple hours and "250 points of imperial madness", I have bombers, shuttles, etc if you need to borrow to make your dream team.

    Let me know.

(Alternately I'm up for some team epic, or epic)

  11. Would ya look at the size of that price tag...(250)

They insist that the pieces stay level...and yet pride themselves on having trench tiles which by definition should be....yeah. Not saying I'm not jealous, I'd make it work.

The magnet idea is great, I think the biggest trick would be having a set your opponent could easily attach to their pieces. If one players is magnetized and the other is just on a really flat surface then the one set will be frozen while the other slides more than normal.

    (Holo chess solution?)

I left off most of the weird boring ones and the ones that are more colletable games. (Like Monsterpacalypse, Heroclix, etc)

  13. I like the second list. I'd have a hard time with 3 big ships I'm sure (asteroids :(), but having academy pilot to park in font of the shuttle to help it creep and turn (or force ships to end up at range 1 but not touching) would keep the shuttle in the action and the non-aces (is there a nick name for that pair yet?...can we get a vote?) could wreak their usual "you can't see me" havoc.

Great lists I'm excited to try one.
