  1. Yup, I am tempted here, but just don't feel I should afford it right now. Plus I still do not get enough use out of Zombicide!

One of the bigger problems is that the producer is "Cool Mini-or-Not". They have enough cashflow that Kickstarter really isn't needed for them. All they really use Kickstarter for is to cut to the Mom&Pop game stores. They also really like to ding people with Add-ons that are higher than what they would be retail. For example their Zombicide wave 2&3 ended up being more expensive than what they are sold currently at the local games stores.

The game looks cool, and I'm still looking at what everything would cost. But, I've been going out of my way to NOT back CMoN mainly based on their use of Kickstarter as a preorder system vs tyring to get something off the ground.

  2. To make this an even better deal. Bump it up to 1000, and I'll include my SpaceMarines:

  5. I was reading over the Wyrd emailer yesterday. Lots of great things, more so as a Gremlin and Neverborn player. Near the end of the email they list quite a few things that are "Also available at GenCon". Being somewhat new to Malifaux, will I be able to order those things via the Wyrd site (Wongs crew for example), or do I have to be AT GenCon to order those?

I got in to Malifaux last year via GenCons sale for the MissEry model, so I don't have many GenCon sales under my belt.

    Thank you,

  6. I believe it was last August when Adam (Malsqueek) clued me in to Malifaux. He had been talking about it for awhile and finally got time to give me a demo game. Half way though the second turn I was hooked. Right after the game we logged on to Wyrd and ordered a crew box. We in turn snagged a few more in our gaming group and they also promptly ordered some crew boxes.

Once this event hit the calendar Adam couldn't stop talking about how great of an event it was. Out of the 6 of us who play, 4 decided to make the trek down from Seattle for our first Malifaux event (Adam is a regular). Boy am I glad I went! The focus is fun, a 180 from the standard GW "crush the fun out of the game" style of events I'm used to.

I got to play against 5 great people, and a few crews and factions I haven't had the opportunity to see.  The game time was a little hard for me as I am still pretty new to the game, but I did manage to get well within turn 5 on all of the games, if not finished up. SomerTeeth is somewhat harder to play with the clock ticking down but I also had Ophelia's crew for the shorter time limit games.

This was easily the best time I've had at a Miniatures gaming event and I am already looking forward to next years event.

Thank you very much for the fun time and I hope to see you all again next year!

  7. Of course, y'all recognize that you're paying for shipping no matter what, right? It's just a matter of whether or not it's folded into the pledge cost, or paid before or after the KS ends. Paying for it afterwards makes a lot of sense for projects with lots of stretch goals, as otherwise the success of the project could break the bank when more things have to be shipped.

Thus, if you like those KSs with crazy stretch goals, paying shipping afterwards (and pledging without knowing exactly what the final shipping might be) is a necessary evil.

    Very true,

But having it built in, or a static value (like Ghostbusters did) stops projects for trying to gain income by over charging for shipping. When companies add the strech goals, shipping should be part of what those goals are. More so if they "unlock" something you still need to increase your donation for.

KickStarter is a great and wonderful tool. I have gotten quite a few games from Kickstarter. But like everything, there are some that are going to take advantage of it an gouge their fan base. I've also been wondering how much Kickstarters hurt B&M game stores. With companies like CMON, who have more than enough capital on their own to make their projects, cutting out the Game store, but still charging retailer prices (or more). I'll be 100% honest, Zombiecide season 2 really bugged me in how they did things as I felt fleeced, and with Myth I felt like the company couldn't be bothered to fix their mistakes (everyone makes mistakes, it happens, no big deal, but it is how people deal with mistakes that matter). So I've been a little jaded and cautious to KSs since then.

I did back Ghostbusters, and I might even go in beyond the 6$'s for Myth. For Myth, I am waiting to see how much I would need to pledge to get just the content add ons.

  8. This is the expansion to myth and it includes some really well done reprint updates to the original product. I know this wasn't everybody's cup of tea but I really dig it and the models are cool. Merc miniatures has learned allot and now that the community isn't snapping at their throats for blood communication is good too. Personally I had a wonderful, albeit with patience on my end, interaction with them for myth and the wife loves the game so I'm in again!

There is a great little pledge for newbies too with the original myth updated rules and a good chunk of skeletons!

    https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1700755582/myth-journeyman?ref=email

I am 100% sure I am going to back this at a level that at least allows me to pick up the printed 2.0 version stuff for Myth. The rest will depend on how much it costs, and what they are pricing stretch goals at.

Having me pay for shipping is a quick way to not get your Project backed.

  9. Hello Ordo,

I just got in my order from Secret Weapon of bases for my Malifaux crew. Sadly, I'm having a hard time getting the plastic minis to stick to the resin bases. At the moment I'm using Zap-a-gap, but it takes 5 minutes of me holding the mini to base for even a chance of it to stick. Half the time I have to wipe it off and start anew.

Anyone have any tips & tricks for this problem.

    Thank you,

    Blasto

  10. To be honest, the Delay was not a problem for me. Like many Kickstarters the project grew in size very quickly. The problem I had was how they handled the problems and questions. The MYTH crew had a "Just be happy your getting anything" point of view. The rulebook was written so badly that Boardgamegeek said the game is unplayable in its released state. Most of the cards in the game have typos or just wrong information on them. When pressed for a reprint, they said you can have a PDF. MYTH was not a cheap backing, so this very much felt like being blown off.

I did sit down with a very good friend of mine and tried to muscle though the rules, and we had a very rough go at it. TO put something in to perspective, my friend Dante has over 1000 boardgames (really, really) and he Demo's games for AEG during PAX. If he has a hard time with the rules, they are really bad.

MYTH was just to far from a finished product when they released it. And unlike a video game, its hard to Patch.

  11. I took a look at Conan, and sadly I have to pass. I had it on my Watch list, and did the math on Monday. To get all of the content addons (just content) you are looking at 500+ and paying for shipping on top of that.

After the debacle that MYTH was, I learned to hold off when the cost gets that high. Kingdom Death: Monster was also very high in cost, I hope that one does not burn me as it looks very cool.
