  1. so I had a scheme for a base for my dwarf BB team and it just doesn't look good.  so I want to remove it from the base and save the base, and go a different direction.  Is that possible where I don't destroy the base?  or do I have to destroy the base to get it out.  I want to get rid of the slot attached to the mini and just pin it.  I should have done this from the beginning but I had a scheme I liked, but once I saw with the minis, I really don't like it.

Also if this is the wrong forum, I don't know where else to put it, admins please move if in the wrong forum.

It's not just painting. I am, for whatever reason, terrible at absorbing information from videos. I need to be able to flip back and forth between the various steps more easily than video allows.

I learn from both, I just found that interesting.   I could never put it together with just articles, I was always part way there but something was missing. I didn't put painting together until I saw the videos but I read plenty of articles.  I had to see how they did stuff to put it all together.  Now I'm still terrible, but at least my techniques are right!

I just wish they had non-video guides and tutorials. I can never get anything from videos.

Interesting.  I read articles for years before I came back to the hobby last year.  Didn't have youtube back then and I feel like in the six months since I started watching these videos, I understand painting a TON better.  I just couldn't get from print what they were trying to convey.

  4. no I did contrast and then painted blue over the top of that.  my experimentation is on my "other" minis.   I think the combo works.  I could never achieve this type of results with just black paint.  While I didn't do any transition here, it still looks more like a highlight, whereas when I try this with just black, it looks like blue paint slabbed over black.  I don't know how else to explain.

  5. thinking about getting one (would serve other purposes than just miniature painting) and man, it's a huge topic to wrap my mind around.  Does anyone have recommendations?  realizing I'd be new at it and top of the line isn't necessarily what I'm going for unless it's something that crap brands will just be more of a headache than a good thing.  Since it will be used for other things, I want to make sure first it can do miniature painting.  And as for a spray booth, I do wood working so I have that covered.

  6. Decided to try and experiment with the contrast paints on models I will never use. Just getting back into this after about a decade. For the beginning experiments I did guardians in Iyanden colors. Then I bought a Tactical squad box. Doing one marine in a different chapter to test the colors. I really like this paint line a lot.

  7. I'm just getting back into painting after a decade, so this stuff is great.  but I don't have the steady hand.  I'm tending to drop a base coat and move on doing multiple models.  I've not got the greatest feel for the dry time, and when I check it's all over the board what people say.  I do a thickish coat for sure, but tend to brush off so it doesn't pool as badly as I've seen some of the youtube videos do.  Guess it's more practice to figure this out.

  8. For the comments on the costume, I'd have kept it what it was.  Cargo pants and under armor shirts with a black mask.  It's simple, elegant, and worthy. His suit that he eventually wears from the stills I've seen looks better when zoomed out, but terrible from certain angles.

Also, I'm not a fan of agents of shield.  I lost all interest when they showed that they brought Colston back.  I don't see how 'considering it's Marvel it's amazing'.  That just means people aren't looking for anything other than a gee whiz, they made something else for me to consume excuse for watching.

Agents of Shield should really have begun after the event of Capt 2, it was a terrible show before that, and it got way better.

I'm the biggest Marvel fan there is, but it's not why I like Daredevil.  The writing is very well done.  You can't have an over the top Fisk, you have to humanize him.  the MCU as it is built is more relatable characters, not bigger than life Comic book types.  They have done well and continue to push it.  Even teh Cosmic universe peeps are more relatable.  Daredevil does that on so many levels.  I think a lot of the problems with the show are the same with any netflix show, you can binge watch, and when you do that, you can pick it apart.

As far as the costumes, Daredevil's red was always going to be a problem.  It's drawn like a skin tight suit, a solid red. so interpreting that, with the horns, going to be tough.  It's not that bad though, the black costume is fine, but he couldn't have gone on in that costume.
