  1. The only constant in the company of Games Workshop is that they worship Tzeentch, the lord of change. Change is always there.

I was a manager candidate at the Baltimore HQ for 3 months a few years ago. I saw big corporate changes three times in that span. They fired Regional managers, then 're organized,' then they fired me and most of my class. This was all in three months.

I am saying this to point out that there is no idea too crazy for GW to try. I believe it is possible for 40k to go the way of AoS, especially the rules for units being in the box. Will it happen? That I can't say as there are too many possibilities.

To say that they are already planning this would be a bit crazy, as they don't even know if AoS is working yet, for the bottom line that is.

  2. Copy that... please let me know if I can drop them off any time this week either at DTG or a more-specific location.

I'm on night shift Wednesday through Sunday and thus can bring them in with me prior to working at 2020 hours.

Sorry to read that you're sick... hope you get

sure thing. ill aim for next tuesday. thanks

  3. Hello there,

I picked up the sprue at DTG, a thousand thanks.

I'm just going to drop off my orks bitz box and my vehicles bitz box so you can go through both and take what you need and feel is appropriate.

Would it be best for you to have me drop this off at the next Tuesday game night, or...?   Please just let me know.  I reckon this way you can pick through stuff and determine its worth.

Thanks again for the sprue, it'll really help me make my HQ!

    Stay safe,

    don

Yeah I can make it this tuesday night for sure.

  4. Hello there,

Sorry for the delay, wonky work schedule.

I work 2020-0700 hours on Wed/Thurs/Fri this week.  Please feel free to leave it at DTG with my name (Don Almer) on it or if you be-bop past the Bellingham Police Department you can do likewise there.

Any particular guns/bitz you're looking for?  I can go through my Ork box tonight!

    Stay safe,

    don

Ok sounds good. Ill drop it by the store after work. Anything big really. If it looks ridiculous on an ork or a vehicle, it should work lol.

Ill be leaving the whole sprue I found. Either keep the bits or bring em back, I am not parital.

  5. I really think AoS is a great tool to bring folks into the hobby. While it is nowhere near the tactical game of old, it's great for buying a box and playing as soon as they are built. It's the gateway game that GW has been lacking since they started ignoring the specilist games, or "Fu$% all category as it was called in GW manager training"

I hope we can see it for what it is as a club, a recruitment tool. Use it to get folks pushing models and painting them. When the game lacks depth, we can help them find the right game or build this one up.

  6. I think the major point here is that this set of rules was made to sell models and bring in new players. The old FB failed in both.

This edition is great for new players. See a cool unit? Buy it and play with it. For the first year of a new player, this will be awesome. Especially if they are playing with friends in the same boat.

This game will bring in new players and it will make boat loads of money for GW and stores. GW has the ability to mass market their games and provide top of the line models.

Other skirmish games have a hard time competing for shelf space and interest. There are just too many to keep one as king so it's fragmented. When you are a store owner are you going for the newest kickstarter game or a GW game? It's easy for store owners.

GW isn't stupid here. They took a dead game, milked it then nuked it from orbit. They reset it with a system that is easy to get into and will be fun. It will sell models way better than the old edition. It will bring in new players, who can play after building their first box of models, something not even 40k does well.

Not only that, but we as gamers have been bitching about GW's rules for years. They finally took our real complaint away, cost. They gave us rules for our existing models for FREE. We can now do what we want with them. Really do we need GW to tell us how to play with our models? No.

What this does is create a great game that will bring more people into the hobby and make money for stores and GW. Good things all around. As long as we don't poison newbies coming in and shame them for playing a game.

  7. I am intrigued by the rules. I it sounds fun and crazy. Balance will be hard to achieve.

Gw doesn't care about losing existing get players because there just weren't enough of them to keep the system going. If it was profitable, they wouldn't have milked it with end times then nuked it from orbit.

i am willing to try it, but likely won't have time until i get back from Seattle in november.

I hope folks give it a chance, especially the store. It's a very newbie friendly game.

  8. I was getting excited about the rumors until the pay to play thing.  I was hoping GW realized that their strength is their models and their rules are... not. Paying any kind of subscription or per pdf is just over the line.

If it holds, I believe it will be the downfall of the system. Either that or people will just pirate it anyways.
