  1. Hey friends!

I'm on the hunt for enough AT stuff to put together some 2 player games. Currently I have the rules box, and tons of terrain, so I'm in the market for titans of all species.

I'm also looking out for Rogue Trader era metal Genestealer Hybrids and Imperial Guard for finishing up my old school Cult.

I have lots of stuff to offer up in trade:

Knights (all glued partially painted - primed black with metals done):

    • Knight Warden with Missile Pod
    • Knight Errant
    • Knight Crusader with AA gun
    • 2 x Armiger Warglaives (primed black)
    • Datacards like new
    • Datasheets (the big ones) like new and unpunched
    • 8th Ed codex
    • Sprues of bits

    Tyranids:

    • 5th Ed hive tyrant (painted, metal)
    • 3 metal zoanthropes
    • 3 metal venomthropes (unpainted)
    • 6 unpainted metal raveners (converted nicely to include Rending Claws)
    • Trygon (partially painted)
    • Warriors (many new on sprue, 3-4 built and unpainted; custom boneswords bits)
    • Genestealers (16? new on sprue)
    • Dakkagants (20-15 unpainted)
    • Carnifexen (2, maybe 3, magnetized and unpainted with spare arms)
    • 20 2nd ed Gargoyles

    Necromunda:

    • Lots and lots of 95-98 models, including Orlock, Van Saar, Goliath, Delaque. Juves as well! Hit me with your wants and I'll see what I've got.

    Rogue Trader:

    • Lots and lots and lots of old Chaos, Orcs, and Marines, many unpainted. I mainly want to trade these for other RT stuff when I can.

    Board Games:

    • I have a raft of good board games in very good to like new condition. I don't have my list fully built but I can assemble one if you're looking for anything in particular.

I'll be at the Ordo Garage Sale on the 15th, so I'd like to arrange trades and finish up there if possible. PM and let me see what you've got!

    Thanks all 🙂

  2. Hello friends!

I'm looking for an unassembled body and upper arms of this fella. Needs to be unpainted:

Also, if anyone has a spare plastic Goliath head looking to the  model's left, I could also use that.

Oh, and 2 Van Saar energy shield bits.

I have oodles and oodles to trade, mainly way oop Chaos (40k and fantasy), RT era space marines and a pile of necromunda both old and new.

    Thanks!

  3. Hey all,

I splurged at Gen Con this year and bought two of the gorgeous new Olympus Mons Hive wall sets from 4ground, but it turns out my eyes were a bit bigger than my funds and I need to cut down to a single set. My loss is your gain!

    4Gjune22.306-500x500.jpg

The set is fully "painted" MDF with color and backing wall inserts, with magnetized ends to allow you to freely configure them without fear of bumping walls out of position. Can be built fully using plain old white glue, and it looks amazing on the tabletop. More Pics here: https://www.4ground.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=1681

MSRP of the set + 2 ruined end walls is £170; US MSRP is $250.  I'm selling it for $175. I can deliver to OFCC this weekend if you're interested.

    Thanks!

  4. Jay - I'll take the uncut sprue of Orlocks (and accompanying bases, if you don't mind). What do you went for them?

VonVilkee - I took a look at the 'Skins I have, and I have a ratskin scout with lasgun (he's waving his arm behind him), a brave with musket (running pose), and a Braakar the Avenger body with no stubber. Do any of those strike you?

All - I will be coming up to OFCC on Friday night to complete some other trades. Should be arriving around 830-9, so if you wanna meet up or drop stuff off with Khan, we can swap then!

As to Venators (a WD list of bounty hunters) in resurrection-tournament play I have mixed feelings having played them. In a campaign/turf-war they have a wonky income scheme that should help balance out the potential for their strengths early on as they can't control turf and instead are wholly dependent on their reputation (instead of turf) and captures/kills for credits throughout a campaign.  In a resurrection format, there is no such fears of longer term consequence. Being able to choose everything down to the statline (4 statlines per type to choose from) for each character as well as having access to the entire trading post with relatively loose restrictions on their options means they can be a very versatile or focused gang.  The only consistent weakness I see comparing Venators to other gangs is their relatively slow speed (3-5" across all statlines) and fairly expensive (45 points for a hunter that starts with tightey-whiteys and a smile, no juves equivalents).  I ran a minimum of mesh armor and a lasgun (45+15+15=75); not crushingly expensive, but not cheap for my least expensive fighters either. I'm not sure if tweaking the rarity access (one of the limiting factors, varies by role) would help or some other limitation would be appropriate if it was felt they needed to be adjusted.

Thanks for the insights, Bosco. Congrats on the win!

When I saw the Venators at the top, I wasn't very surprised. While the gang isn't seriously imbalanced, just the fact they (and they alone) can access gear outside the House Lists - at least, if they don't buy a House Legacy - and the rarity of their gear access they have seems to be a serious advantage.

My suggestion as an addition for the next event would be to add a modified trading post action - maybe granting a rarity bonus on the game results? (say, you can buy 1 item with a rarity 6+ the number of OOA/captured enemy gangers?). This would take some edge off the Venators while not overcomplicating things; it's just another option you can buy when you'd normally reinforce your gang.

A general question for everyone else: how many of you bought stuff with your earned credits? If so, what did you buy?  I was concerned that basing victory on credits would mean folks never spent anything (I didn't plan to, beyond maybe a few pistols), but maybe it didn't play out that way so I'm curious. If this rule did discourage development/encourage hoarding, perhaps keeping W/L seperate from banked Credits, or making banked credits only part of determining the winner, might address this potential issue in future events.

  6. Hey Weav! Things are looking good re: attending, but a few quick Q's about compliance:

    1) the gang I have closest to meeting painting compliance is old metal Goliaths. The restrictions on using the House gear lists only puts me in a bind: stub cannons were not in the game when I built and painted these figures; and autoguns/lasguns are not in the Goliath house list. If I made a universal replacement (e.g. "all autoguns are stub cannons) would that be allowed? I'm not about to chop my minis for this (or any other) event, and I don't have time to buy, build, and paint new ones for the event either.

    2) On mid-tourney upgrades, you refer to "skills" - are skills the only upgrades fighters may receive? If so, does that mean only Leaders, Champs, and Juves may be upgraded during play, or are all Gangers considered specialists for this purpose?

    3) WRT Hired Guns. Since there's been a raging debate about this,  what is the accepted price for a hired gun: is it the base price listed in GW2 (e.g. 50 for Scum and 80 for a Bounty Hunter), weapons included, or base price + weapons (as for the one-off game style)? I presume the latter but I wanted to check.

    Thanks!

  7. The Advanced has got 3 problems, all stemming from the fact it was the first non-starter box Imperial ship to be released: 1) it's far too pricey for a 2 attack dice ship; FFG has long since changed their formula with hindsight; 2) its dial is utter crap - it should be at least as agile as a TIE but it is not; and 3) it didn't have access to any of the cool tech that would make it "advanced" like Systems or the Boost action, because it was at the front of the line. These cards go a decent ways to solving those problems, particularly with some of the new tech out there.

2 interesting builds I see right now:

Vader/Steele with X-1 Title + Advanced Targeting Computer - Still a spendy ship, but PS 9 and 8 respectively, and the ATC works quite well with both pilots. ATC makes the Advanced nearly a 3 dice ship, or rather 2 dice + Crit in the hands of a high PS pilot. Vader can use his 2 actions to Target Lock and either Barrel Roll or Focus (or even Boost if he has Engine Upgrade) and bring a world of pain. Steele likes the bonus crit a lot, as it plays nicely off his pilot ability.

Tempest Squadron with X-1 Title + Accuracy Corrector (Scum and Villany) + Cluster Missiles/Engines - Ringing in at just 25 points, you can stuff 4 of these into a 100 pt list. While not as strong as, say, 4 Blue Squadron B-Wings, what these guys have over Blues is reliability. Accuracy Corrector (cancel all your dice results and turn them into 2 hits instead) basically turns your 2 attack dice into auto-hits and guaranteeing 8 hits a turn, which is about the same average damage output of 8 TIEs.

While you don't have quite as much Hull + Shields (20 vs. 24 on the 8 Academy TIEs), nearly half of that is shields which more than makes up for it, considering how badly TIEs suffer from even single crits (read: any crit on them tends to be extremely bad for their effectiveness). Having a Corrector on the ship also frees you from having to use offensive actions like Focus or Target Lock, meaning you could instead be Barrel Rolling to arc dodge or just Evading to increase your survivability even further.

What's interesting is the Corrector also operates with primary and secondary attacks, so with Cluster Missiles you can really lay some hurt on a target with a "double tap" of 2 hits/2 hits at worst. Engines are another good option - with the Corrector you don't really need to Target Lock or Focus to get hits, so you can turn that "free" action into extra mobility and possible Range 1 shots if need be.

  8. yes. autothrusters on interceptors is a great counter to the 360" firing arc of solo and now dash rendar and co.

the only way i see to get the yt-2400 to work is to pay the outrider title tax and put a heavy laser cannon on it - thus needing yer opponents to stay at range to shoot.

autothrusters gives the interceptors a free evade against that.

....he says from harsh, harsh experience.

  9. Hey Ordos!

As many of you may know, I own a small game company, Crafty Games which (currently) specializes in RPGs and the like. The biggest game we have right now is Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn Adventure Game, a FATE/indie-ish RPG that lets you and your friends adventure in the world of the Mistborn novel series (either in the original trilogy or the Old-Westish Alloy of Law era). You can grab a bunch of free previews right here.

But the bigger news is, based on the success of the MAG, we've launched our first Kickstarter this week - Mistborn Allomancy Dice! These customized d6's feature the unique magical "alphabet" of the Mistborn series on the 6 face, making them a perfect tool for the Mistborn Adventure Game in addition to being useful for any old game. We funded in under 12 hours and are into stretch goals, well on track to hitting our goal of bringing these into FLGSs everywhere.

How does this matter to you? Well, if we manage to get 1200 backers for the campaign, we'll be giving away a free digital copy of the Mistborn Adventure Game (MSRP $14.95) to everyone who backs at least 1 set of dice. For $20 you could get 10 unique dice plus the RPG to go with them - a pretty sweet deal if I do say so myself :)

So, if you love Mistborn or cool dice (or have friends who do), I'd appreciate it if you could spread the word! Thanks for your support :)

    Alex
