  1. Ordo Open Player’s Packet

     

    Welcome to the Ordo Open ITC event.  Included within this packet are your missions as well as guidelines for you and your opponent.  Please refer to your packet before asking staff any questions.  Rounds will be 2.5 hours long and will run on a strict dice down rules set.  Players that do not reach at least 4 turns of game play may receive a warning at the judges and staff digression. Players failing to reach at least 4 turns multiple times may receive further consequences at the Judge’s discretion.

     

    If there are only 20 minutes left at the end of the round, both players will immediately divide the remaining time into 10 minute halves.  Players will then complete the round within these time constraints or until the game comes to a natural conclusion.  If one player uses up their allotted 10 minutes before their opponent does, then their opponent may offer them as much of their remaining time as they wish in order to finish the game.  If the opponent does not wish to give them any of their own time then the game ends at the beginning of their next turn or any other natural conclusion to the game, whichever comes first.  When a player runs out of their time they may complete any actions they were in the middle of, such as a unit’s shooting or close combat, and then immediately end their turn. 

     

    Event Schedule:

     

    Check in: 0800 – 0930
    Round 1: 0930 – 1200
    Lunch: 1200 – 1230
    Round 2: 1230 – 1500
    Round 3: 1500 – 1730

    Note that ALL rulings made by Ordo Open staff and judges are final.  Even if they make a mistake!  If you ask a TO for a rulings before checking the rules, FAQs, or other sources that may answer your question, you’re stuck with the answer they give you.  This will apply only to that round though, if a Judge’s ruling is found to be incorrect later, then the correct version will be used in the remaining rounds of the event.

     

     

    Play the missions in the following order:

    Round 1: ITC Mission 4

    Round 2: ITC Mission 3

    Round 3: ITC Mission 6

     

    ITC 2016 Scenario 4

    1.        Step 1. Adjust and define terrain with your opponent.

    2.        Step 2. Roll for Psychic Powers/Gifts/etc.

    3.        Step 3. Roll for deployment zones. HAMMER AND ANVIL DEPLOYMENT

    4.        Step 5. Place Objectives using normal objective placement rules as modified below.

    a.        Each player places Maelstrom Objective number 1 in their own deployment zone, number 2 more than 30" from their own deployment table edge and number 3 in their opponent's deployment zone.

    b.        These objectives are also the Scouring Objectives, which are worth 1, 2 and 3 points respectively.

    5.        Step 6. Roll for Warlord trait per usual in the BRB Pg. 124. Do not use the Tactical Traits table. If your opponent has a LoW and you do not, you can roll on the Escalation Warlord table (pg.34 of the Escalation Supplement).

    6.        Step 7. Roll for Night Fighting.

    7.        Step 8. Roll for first turn. The player that wins the roll can choose to go first or second. The player going first then deploys first and goes first unless the other player seizes the initiative.

    8.        Reference the ITC Scenario Guidelines for additional scenario information.

    Primary Mission: The Scouring: 4 Mission Points if achieved, 2pts if tied, 0pts if lost.

    Secondary Mission: Modified Maelstrom: 4 Mission Points if achieved, 2pts if tied, 0 pts if lost.

    1. Hold Either Objective 1
    2. Hold Either Objective 2
    3. Hold Either Objective 3
    4. Destroy an enemy unit.
    5. Destroy an enemy unit.
    6. Destroy an enemy unit.
    7. 3 Point Maelstrom Objective: If any 2 of Maelstrom Objectives 1, 2 or 3 are generated, they may be exchanged for: Hold 3 Objectives and earn 3 Maelstrom Points.
    8. 3 Point Maelstrom Objective: If any 2 of Maelstrom Objectives 4, 5 or 6 are generated, they may be exchanged for: Destroy 3 enemy units and earn 3 Maelstrom Points.

    ITC 2016 Scenario 3

    1.        Step 1. Adjust and define terrain with your opponent.

    2.        Step 2. Roll for Psychic Powers/Gifts/etc.

    3.        Step 3. Roll for deployment zones. VANGUARD STRIKE DEPLOYMENT

    4.        Step 5. Place Objectives using normal objective placement rules as modified below.  

    a.        A Maelstrom Objective is placed in the center of the table, numbered 1.

    b.        Each player places 1 Maelstrom Objective in their opponent's deployment zone, these should be numbered 2 and 3.

    5.        Step 6. Roll for Warlord trait per usual in the BRB Pg. 124. Do not use the Tactical Traits table. If your opponent has a LoW and you do not, you can roll on the Escalation Warlord table (pg.34 of the Escalation Supplement).

    6.        Step 7. Roll for Night Fighting.

    4. Have more scoring units at least partially further than 12" from your deployment edge than your opponent.
    5. Have a scoring unit at least partially within 12" of your opponent's deployment edge.
    6. Have at least 3 of your scoring units and no enemy scoring units at least partially within 12" of your deployment edge.
    7. 3 Point Maelstrom Objective: If any 2 of Maelstrom Objectives 1, 2 or 3 are generated, they may be exchanged for: Hold 3 Objectives and earn 3 Maelstrom Points.

    4.        Step 5. Place Objectives using normal objective placement rules as modified below.

    a.        Each player places their Maelstrom Objective number 1 in their own deployment zone, and their number 2 Maelstrom Objective more than 18" away from their own back deployment edge.

    b.        These objectives are also the Crusade Objectives.

    5.        Step 6. Roll for Warlord trait per usual in the BRB Pg. 124. Do not use the Tactical Traits table. If your opponent has a LoW and you do not, you can roll on the Escalation Warlord table (pg.34 of the Escalation Supplement).

    6.        Step 7. Roll for Night Fighting.

  3. With this data set, I think promoting OFCC as a casual EVENT and not a tournament should bode well for it.

     

    I'm also glad to see that only 25% of people like team games. God, I hate those.

    From now on you're not allowed to play anything other than team games at any event I run.

  4. Moving aside the obvious hyperbole in your arguments, dumping more dice into a power is always a risk.

     

    You increase your odds of a Perils, and Marines do not like that. And you'd be amazed the odds of failing a Lvl 2 power when you throw 5 dice at it looking for 4+. Happens fairly often.

  5. So before this turns into another ITC opinion post, I'll answer your questions.

     

    1. Yes you are allowed to deep strike out the back but are still bound to the rules of deep strike. The unit won't be able to assault. The locator beacon will not help because it explicitly states in its rules that it must be on the board at the start of the turn to offer benefits. If your flyer is coming in from reserves, it's not eligible to use is beacon.

     

    2. It is definitely not a waste of points. Getting powers off on a 2+ vs a 4+ is an insane difference. Being able to do that and knowing 6 or more powers is extremely useful. It makes powers far more difficult to block as well. The conclave is arguably one of the best SM fornations out there, whether or not you're in the ITC format.

  6. That's what I imagined. He's about primarch level of power. so if they are allowed, all's fair yes? I'm not taking him I'm just curious how that would work. I assume the whole of the army wuld have to be taken into account.

    No primarch is that durable. Not by a long shot.
