I'll be there!
-
I'm looking forward to it! I got my fourth or fifth game this weekend and had a great time.
-
Rudra I may - let me look around today. I won't be at the club tonight unfortunately, but I can bring them next week.
-
Won't be able to make this one, though I really enjoyed the last one. I got the chance for some D&D, which I haven't played in maybe 4 years. I miss it!

Great work, that's awesome.

Hopefully KoW will start blowing up a little more. It's a fantastic game.

I just got a game of 8th last night and it reminded me of all the garbage I didn't like about it. 2nd edition of KoW is better than 8th was, in my opinion! No dreaded 13th/dwellers crippling/killing a general on turn one. No stunties unable to reach the battle. No overpowered magic, and more core! And like Nate said, all units are viable - this isn't a game of netlists. KoW is a game of customizable, individualized armies whereas Warhammer was a game completely lacking balance. This game has me all fired up for the hobby again.

No I've heard good things though. Are they the folks that harvest the sable?
-
Yep! Let's do it. How many points would you like? I would struggle to get to 2000 but could do it, anything there or less is possible for me.

Brad
Portland
Red Castle, WOW, PGS, Guardian (in order of preference)
Some evenings, weekends are best
Elves
Goblins
Some Orcs
Some Kingdoms of Men (currently assembling more)

Best brushes i have ever used, The Pure Kolinsky Sable is in my opinion better than W&N and cheaper. Its all personal preference but i would suggest getting a brush or two and trying out these.
Cheers
Sam
Yeah, I use Rosemary brushes too! They're awesome. I don't go with sable because I worry about how the animals get harvested, but their golden synthetics work wonderfully and have an excellent point.

Jesse, I could potentially get a game this weekend if you're still looking for it. Red castle would work, I'm just not free Saturday morn/early afternoon and Sunday eve.
-
That was a great game - totally cemented my fascination with KoW. I'd like to do a writeup of the battle tomorrow.

I will for sure be there tonight, probably by 6 or close to. I can hang out till 830/9, so I could possibly get two games in. KoW goes fast, especially at 1000 points.

That podcast I linked to - Kings of Cascadia, they're Seattle based (or surrounding area). They're organizing tournaments and I think meet on certain nights during the week. Never played with them, not sure.

I think it's a solid system and just needs a little time to catch on - slow burn like you said. It sucks getting in to it at this point because I feel like I kind of have to fan the flames a bit, which is something I have no interest in doing. But I want it to grow so I have people to play with! And again, it is a really good game. The second edition just came out so it will take some time. I am going to keep playing it so there will always be at least one player, but I think a few more people will realize it's a really good game.
I think the danger for old warhammer folks is comparing it to warhammer. Some of the things we got used to, random charges for example, or removing models from units, are gone. I think I prefer KoW in a lot of ways, but most importantly in the way of balance. Nothing is perfect but at least the Mantic guys put effort in to it. GW never seemed to care about giving us a balanced game.

I used to read "Hoodling's Hole" a lot during the 8th edition days. He's a hobbyist/tournament guy in Australia. I hadnt been on his site since the great sundering, but looks like hes migrating over to KoW. Here is an interesting article about his first impressions. He makes a lot of good points and compares it to 8th. Seems really objective, theres no favoring one over the other.

EDIT: Nevermind, she's in earlier than I thought. I am pretty sure I'll be there, I really want a game.
