  1. To celebrate my last night as the Portland Game Store Infinity volunteer, I'm going to run us through an ITS Showdown of my favorite new scenario, FROSTBYTE!

The Showdown is September 17th, 7pm, with a Season 9 ITS pack for prize support, which may be your last chance to win an ITS Cube Jäger. Bring a 300 point, limited insertion, ITS army to play this new scenario, make sure to have Heavy Infantry if you don't want to get frozen!

OTM link will be up soon, and please be sure to Subscribe when I post the link so I can get an accurate head count for tables. Cost of entry depends on the number of participants, likely $5-10 to cover the cost of the ITS pack. Any additional funds raised go directly to prize support.

  2. That's right, the Rose City Raid is set to happen once more! The details are still being worked out, but at the moment it appears that it will be held at the same venue, the Lucky Labrador Beer Hall, in NE Portland, on June 22-23rd, 2019!

    What to Expect

This year our theme is "Infinity on Hard Mode" so put on your big boy pants and get ready for an incredibly fun and challenging line up of scenarios. It's not just the scenarios that will put you to the test, every single table will have some form of special terrain rules in place, so familiarize yourself with woods, water, mountains, and even ZERO-G! Tables will range from a few pieces of unique terrain (such as nimbus zone generators), to the dreaded Obelisk Island table, much of which is either aquatic or jungle terrain, and everything in between. Koni at Corvus Belli is excited to see a tournament specifically designed to be a challenge, so lets not disappoint them!

Last year our prize table was quite flush, and this year I'm looking to top it! To generate more funds to purchase additional prizes, I've commissioned Obadiah himself to sculpt a limited edition DRUNK YUAN YUAN miniature, with the blessing of Corvus Belli. Every player who attends will receive one, and additional minis will be available to purchase. 100% of the proceeds of the Drunk Yuan Yuan miniature sales will go back into prize support for the tournament.

Are you up for the challenge?

Updates will be posted here, as well as on Infinity The PDX, and personally, I can't wait to see Obi's work on the Drunk Yuan Yuan.

I am planning a Haqqislam table with an Oasis (water) and a Power Generator creating a Saturation Zone within eight of the generator.

    That sounds rad!

I’ve been considering “within X-inches” types of terrain, I think the only issue comes down to it being difficult to tell when measuring LOF, and easier to forget during the game. I am making some low-standing terrain though to make it so I can have portable saturation zones, without being difficult to see the boundary of. I'd be happy to donate a pair of these to Ordo for use on that table once I get them cut, I'm using them for the exact same purpose, to serve as the dangerous venting around my power station . The interior, where the green hexes are, is going to be cut through, and the whole thing fits around a computer fan I have a bunch of, to create the fan part of the vent. This lets people just easily play that the entire terrain piece makes a nimbus zone that projects upward. The whole thing is about 5" across.

  4. Thanks! I'll hopefully have them all done by the end of the week.

For the Rose City Raid, every table will have at least some difficult terrain like these to navigate through, many may have some exceptionally weird things like Nimbus Zone generators (which I'm working on now as well), minefields (non-difficult, but highly dangerous), and other fun things to worry about. 🙂

  5. Hey guys, thought I'd show off a little project I'm working on, in anticipation for the Rose City Raid 2019. I've been making urban-friendly areas of terrain, so that we can add them to any board, in case someone doesn't bring adequate special terrain. For aquatic terrain, I've been making fountains and ponds, complete with sculpture for the middle, and for woods I figure what's nicer than some city parks.

Obviously these are still very WIP, but I thought I'd throw them out here so you guys know what kind of things to expect next year. If you want to make your own, these are really inexpensive to make with some extra bits and some cheap painting boards: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BLX2J1X/

Still have a ways to go with some plasticard before painting and adding trees and water, but I'm pleased with how quickly these came together.

  6. My totally uninformed theory is that we see a Shasvastii vs Tohaa battle pack. Carlos said they are working on the new Shasvastii art, last Adepticon he mentioned new Tohaa models in 2019, CA and Tohaa are perfect rivals for a battle pack, and they are the last two armies that aren’t in one.

  7. Hey everyone, the Rose City Raid is fast approaching! Currently we still have all 32 slots accounted for, but I assume that there will be some last minute drops.

Is anyone who didn't get a ticket already interested in filling those spots? You'll basically be flying standby, but there's still a chance to play and you'll be fully eligible for prizes like any other player.

Well, yeah, but they could have given a little more thought on how to make him more useful, rather than putting a corner case bonus on a model nobody takes anyway.

Nobody takes Voronin? I see him in a lot vanilla lists because of that Strategos L1. There are 4 scenarios which the enemy scores points for killing the enemy DataTracker (Annihilation, Show of Force, FireFight, Deadly Dance). Nearly the same number require the DataTracker to go killing things (Decapitation, Looting and Sabotaging, Transmission Matrix, The Grid, and Comms Center), the rest you can do without getting your DataTracker in a fight. For 21 points getting 3 orders, I suspect he'll be pretty popular.

Seriously? That's a really lousy thing. Who in their right mind is going to make Voronin their datatracker? If that's true, then CB isn't thinking clearly.

In some missions you just need to keep your DataTracker alive... that’s sounds like an amazing time to make him your DataTracker. That would make him effectively add 3 orders to your pool.

  10. Hey guys, since there are going to be several tables at the Rose City Raid which will have Special Terrain (water, woods, mountain, etc.), I decided I should probably take a minute and write up an article breaking down their gameplay. I know that personally I got many of the rules for special terrain wrong or confused, so it was helpful to research into it and figure out RAW how it's all played. It turns out that it's actually a lot easier and intuitive than I previously thought.
