As for the Scyk, it may not have a 1 straight, but it has 1 banks and turns combined with a potential barrel roll. If you have two turreted ships that need range 1-2 up in your opponent's face throwing out a lot of dice, I can easily see the Scyk managing to skirt around the edges taking pot shots, or if the opponent decides to zoom after your little glass cannon, that's fine too as that's two more deadly, easier to hit ships that he's not shooting at.
