AoS in January at GG

Would like to do a Saturday evening again. My preference would be the 30th,but I could do next weekend as well(the 2nd)

The only weekend that probably wont work well for GG is the 15th as I think its a MTG prerelease weekend...that and my oldest boy will probably be playing in it either there or at Epic in Milwaukie.

We had a nice table setup in the main area last session 4x12 even and the place wasn't too crowded for a Saturday evening.

4x12 table I mean,lol

Saturday evening works really well for me, especially at GG. I'll be there. See you on the 2nd.

I think we should start a weekly league, if GG allows it. We could play with reduced space if GG needs more room (free for all on a smaller table....).

Ill put in a request for a table then:)

We will bring 80 wound builds from your latest comp and see how that goes.Try for a 1.5 hr time limit.

I can probably do every other Saturday, ill ask them about that next week.

We made it to the end of turn 2 and there was plenty of carnage table wide by that time lol.

The scenario was really not bad at all in terms of gameplay. It could probably use some secondary objectives to spice things up though.

Being a four player game,I wanted to see how the base rule victory conditions would fare in this case, those being the "force loss percentage" system.

This probably isn't totally accurate but this is what I came up with-

Me-61% casualties

Colin(my son)-62% casualties

Steel Angel-68% casualties

Paxmiles-77% casualties

Even though the game only lasted for 2 turns before the time limit was met, being a 4 player scenario there was actually a total of 8 combat phases resulting in some very nasty losses on all parties. Also I used the literal translation of models being summoned/added to the game counting as casualties suffered when they come in and I even counted the 4 models I brought in as casualties(after Steel Angel pointed that out) and even still it was a pretty close fight for a 4 player battle.

Paxmile took a big hit when his large unit of Chaos Dwarves got wiped out by some Protectors and Steel Angel and Colin both got knocked off the top spots when myself and Pax went after their larger blocks of troops during turn 2.

Overall, when these loss percentage victory conditions are in effect,it really favors the more elite armies.

Next time we do this kind of scenario we will probably reduce the army sizes by 30% or so and maybe use a couple of realmgates to teleport across the field with:)

A wider table might help too. Everyone was in charge range of at least one other person and yes secondary objectives would have helped

We would have ran out of time with a bigger table. As is, we only barely completed 2 rounds.

Really not a fan of team battles, as it always seems like one team just works better together than the other team (like Order+Order vs Chaos+Death...). I liked the free for all, but I think a 4'x4' and half size armies would have gone a long way to speeding things up. I also think that mission wasn't very well designed for speed, as it included things like variable turn order per round and such, which just added time to the game.

Hey RCNjack. Your son, Collin, he had that Beast that kept healing itself. I thought the model looked odd. He was using a Vargheist model to represent a Vargulf. And easy honest mistake. Vargheists are the new plastic ones and should be a bit smaller. Vargulf is metal/resin and should be on a bit larger base.

Anyway, doesn't matter if he want's to continue using it as the other, just wasn't sure if he knew.

Yeah I told him he could do that,,actually I was told when I bought them last fall by Tyler, who runs our GW store here in town that a lot of people use the varghiest "Champ" model as a vargulf. Its a bit smaller and on a 40mm square instead of the 50mm.

But yeah, waiting for the VC Sigmar stuff to buy the proper model so I can get the oval(or round) base along with it,heh.

Actually I bought those 2 years ago when End times came out.

That's my plan.

I'd love to do it again, 5-9:30pm on Saturday. That day and time works very well for me.

Though I've been rather slow this week, so I might just show up and do some painting.
