  1. I am doing an airborne mission table. I am putting everything on the table. Terrain, forces, gaming aids. Barca is doing a beach assault, and Nelson said he can do caen. Essentially, we are supplying everything but warm bodies. If all you want to do is terrain, and play games that's fine too. We are mainly trying to help beginners and/or play games out of the norm as well as having some regular games. P.s. I am also setting up a desert terrain table and anybody else wanting to help with table terrain is more than welcome.
  2. There was a conversation about OC Geeks and Games not having this scheduled. I have confirmed the date of November 9th with Adam and we are good to go. Also, could use some help with table terrain.
  3. I talked with Adam at OC Geeks and Games and requested November 9th. 2-3 tables will be set piece scenarios with the forces already sitting on the table. This will be to encourage people to try some other force they haven't used before and to try out some of the scenarios in the books. The rest of the tables will be for standard play, 90 points Late-War. Preference would be the D-Day American and D-Day German books. Don't worry, bringing other late-war list to play is just fine, I just figured there would be alot of people trying out the new D-Day German stuff. I need to get my butt in gear for roll-out of this. I keep forgetting it's only 2-months away, but was kinda waiting to see the new D-Day German book stuff.
  4. Yeah, was just at the store and looking at the book. I also have most of the FJ and stug battery. They put all the stuH into 1 plt and made it a little cheaper. Also, 1x FJ plt is integral with stug battery so you could have 4 FJ plts if also running the FJ formation. And the command cards allow for cheaper trained troops as well. If you run FJ, this is a good book, worth picking up.
  5. YES. The biggest problem I am having is that ALL units (attacker and defender) start pinned down/bailed out, and the mission specifically says DEFENDER GOES FIRST. So, what usually happens is defender deploys as much HMG/MG teams as possible (knowing the american can only start with troops), going first they get 90% of their forces unpinned and start hammering away with at least 4 HMGs (24 dice). that's a lot of dice. Next problem is Americans don't get to start dug-in/gone to ground like the Germans so when they fail infantry saves they just die. usually I lose 1-3 teams per plt getting shot at. At this point, my strategy is to put the DZ/LZ markers in the corners of the table and hope the troops land off the table and thus placed in reserves, then load up on command cards that can help with getting reserves onto the table. What troops do land on table MUST get dug-in immediately or DASH out from under artillery markers. Seems like the Americans should be either - goes first, or DOESN'T start pinned down. Best I've done in a game was knocking out 2 units (arty and recon, easy to do)
  6. I hope the beach assaults go better than the airborne drops. As far as I'm concerned, the airborne drop mission is broken and there is no way any kind of airborne force could ever win against any decent german player. My record is now 0-6 and I have NOT figured out anything that works for the airborne. Until something changes (errata or publications of clarification or how-to) I will no longer play that mission.
  7. I have Mid-War Brits ! going to try these guys for the first time.
  8. I am trying to run this event and got some Ideas but need help. I have talked with Adam at OC-Geeks Games. They have Six dedicated 4x6 tables for miniatures and if needed he can add more. He's got more room since they have expanded. This would be more of a play event rather than a full tournament. A mix of "Lend-Lease" style (where the table and formations are preset) and regular play tables. So you can play as much or as little as you want, bring your army to play, or just use the preset tables. All wars, all periods available. To help, I need some Table hosts who have the books, formations, and know-how of the different games/scenarios. ie Great War, Arab Isreali War, Nam, Team Yankee, and of course Flames of War, maybe specific scenarios like "Hit the Beach". I'm thinking of 3-4 set-piece tables with hosts (of course I would be one of them with either Great War or Arab Israeli War) and the rest being open tables. May even add a separate painting competition on the side. Dates are flexible and I am currently leaning toward Nov 2nd or 9th.
  9. Since I've been struggling and not winning a single game this past month with airborne/glider, feels like I'm hitting a wall, I am doing a temporary change-up and will play around with LATE WAR US light tank company for a while. I am also bringing a 100 point PzGren company (w/halftracks) as a sparring list for anybody to use and can also be used for Eastern front.
  10. In my opinion, I'm coming across more people interested and liking 4th edition than the people interested and liking 3rd edition when IT came out.
  11. just trying to remember back to 2nd & 3rd edition. Wasn't 21st Pz div. originally found in the Villers Bocage? Was 21 pz div part of the SS (would it fall into the d-day waffen ss book)?
  12. not a problem. I have actually been bringing a German sparring army along with and a few people have used it.
  13. I have D-Day american glider rifle company
  14. Something tells me you want the US Tank Destroyer dice. Me personally, I would like a set of custom 325th Glider Infantry Regiment dice to go with the tokens I have.
  15. Lazarus and I were discussing this. We came to the conclusion that they both have approximately the same amount of area. Use either so long as the players involved are OK with it. We plan on practicing with the 2x8. would be interesting if anybody comes across in differences in game play between the two types.
  16. I got a practice game in the other night with my Glider co. Main thing I learned, make your airborne portion 60% and tank support 40%. That way you are least affected for the the airborne mission as you have DEEP - DELAYED - and SCATTERED Reserves. That way you can do Airborne drop with all your airborne and put the tanks in reserve because they aren't as effective at night (cause the first few turns are at night) and they have better movement to get into the fight after arriving. 60 points Airborne, 40 points of reserve could be 5x Veteran Sherman (76) and 4x M12 155mm howitzer.
  17. If you want, you can leave your FOW stuff behind, save you some effort. I have LW americans and a German sparring force too.
  18. Finally got the Late-War book I was waiting for. Ready for LW 100 pt battles.
  19. Most likely John W. It was on Table 2. Most likely the last game of the day on that table since the pieces would have been missed by the later matches. If anybody knows how to contact John W. send me a PM
  20. GREAT SCOTT !!!! Smoke Bombardment is back.
  21. The ones I found are American Airborne.
  22. I went through page by page comparing the new LW copyright 2019 rule book to the original MW rulebook looking for changes. Here is what I found. 1. Main body of rules are still intact. 2. country specific special rules were updated to include Americans and Russians, to add LW specific special rules and take out MW only special rules. the biggest changes are in the Missions area 3. NEW definition of HOLDING OBJECTIVE 4. NEW method of determining winner for each Mission 5. Chart added for determining who is attacker and what mission to use (all based on each players choice of attack, mobile, defend preferences).
