  2. It's now just 9 days away. Get your stuff together! Don't be afraid to bring extra stuff. If all you have is just a little bit, bring that too we can put stuff together. Don't forget this is at Oregon City Geeks and Games Saturday 18th. That's the next Saturday after this weekend. If you have terrain for a table let me know or just bring it. I have 5 tables reserved and would need help with at least 2 of them. I can't wait to see everybody playing different armies and having fun. And yes my paint brushes have been working again this year for my 2nd annual tanksgiving.

  4. That is a really awesome idea. I'm up for it. Would be more than happy to sponsor Wings of Glory if there is enough interest. I would be up for the pizza thing, get an order together after most peeps show up in the morning.
  5. So I've been playing a Stuart company this past month. Crazy hunh. Yeah they get hit on 2+ but I've stumbled upon a playstyle for them. I take a full company of stuarts ( 2,5,5,5 - hq & 3 platoons) plus the recon to help the stuarts creep closer, plus the T30 AssaultGuns (new improved armored mortars for only 1 pt more). So thats 5 platoons and HQ that count for formation status. Then add in 2 platoons of M10s. 3 & 3 for 100 pt games, 4 & 4 for higher point games. Those things are beasts with AT12 and 36" range. I pretty much cluster the stuarts together and shove them into the enemy as fast as possible and use the M10s 36" range as cover fire. Opponent is then faced with a decision, deal with the horde of easy to hit thin skinned stuarts or deal with the M10s blasting from a distance. I'm not saying this is an unstoppable army or its the best. I just didn't think there was a chance for those stuarts that are hit on 2+. I have won more games with them than I've lost but the wins are almost always 6-3, no 8-1 wins yet. But I did find a way to play them and it's actually fun and I'm getting into it. I wonder if DVANG is still around & playing, I remember him playing stuarts & M10s back in Version 2. He would love this list.

  8. Having served in the 82nd Airborne 89-92, I am interested in seeing what the list options look like. M551 Sheridans, 3/73 armor battalion, are a must. The VADS, 3/4 ADA, I saw were trailer mounted. Lots of turtle shell HMMWVs. I did see the 1/17th CAV running around with LAVs but can't remember if that was just before or jsut after Desert Storm, so either 1990 or 1991. After Desert Storm, I did see a HMMWV with an operator capsule mounted on back that had stinger missle pods attaced to the sides. The artillery were more like the old pack guns but were towed by HMMWVs, the bigger 155s were 18th Airborne Corps arty (their motorpool was in front of ours so I saw them every day) and were pulled by 5-ton trucks. A10s and C130 spectres were always at our disposal since those units were also at Pope Airforce Base (next to Ft Bragg), and the 82nd trained with them all the time. 82nd Aviation Brigade was Apaches, Blackhawks, and chinooks.

  11. I am reducing the event fee to $12 per person. I haven't been able to put as much as I wanted into prize support. Still plan on having something for everybody.
  12. Score! Now I can run a whole company of them !!! BIRCHES!!!! About the same thing I was going to do but I think my point cost was 4pts each making a platoon 16 points, but the did make them AT9 instead. See how it goes.

  14. Another reason for Infantry is to protect the flanks of your Main Battle Tanks. I run West German Mech Infantry with some Leo2s. The Leo2s are hard to crack through front armor so my opponents learned to rush up and get side shots, so now I place infantry platoons to the sides to make it harder for them to do that. The Marder infantry fighting vehicles, I have them run all over the battlefield chasing Helicopters & Zsu 23-4 and other light skinned vehicles because its fun.
  15. Some of us have also been playing on TUESDAY nights at a new location in Oregon City. Oregon City Geeks & Games (OCGG for short) is owned by a player of Flames of War and he loves having us there playing. They have 3 tables always waiting.
  16. I loved using the M3 75mm GMC as tank destroyer in V3 midwar. Sure it was only AT10 same as a sherman but they were like 1/2 the price of M10s and had all the special rules of the M10s. Kinda like Tank Destroyers on a Budget, great for the Low point games.
  17. For the US tanks, they took away the choice of "to use stabilizers or not" by making stabilizers permanent. As I have been playing American tanks for over 10 years, my boggle was always 1 shot at 5+, or 2 shots at 6. BF has made the decision for me. I have no problem getting used to this. Stuarts being hit on 2+ will need to get used to but so long as I have 2 good tanks that helps with large number platoons. Always take 5 Stuart platoon if you use them. In V3 system after 1/2 tanks knocked out they have to take morale, V4 system they are good so long as you have 2 good tanks. Given a platoon of 5 stuarts V3: 3 tanks knocked out forces morale and if fail 2 tanks leave V4: 3 tanks knocked out unit is still good cause they have 2 good tanks. This requires 4 tanks to be knocked out to force morale and then only 1 tank leaves. And then Infantry. Since they did away with the 1/2 gone forces morale, Large platoons benefit better

  19. I am not defending BF here, just trying to make sense of the direction they are going. Having gotten into Team-Yankee last year and still following FOW into V4, I have noticed these new books seem to be more concentrated on specific units at more of a Division level rather than Army or Front level where they would "highlight" a specific unit for fluff. Leopard - was about 2nd brigade, Panzer Div 1 Panzertruppen (add on to Leopard) - being 1st brigade, Panzer Div 1 Desert Rats - 7th armor Div Africa Corps - Rommels direct force. This Fighting First looks like it is concentrated on 1st armor div and units that landed with them. I wouldn't be surprised if they come out with more of those add-on pamphlets like "Afgansty" and "Panzertruppen" to cover more.
  20. Following the 2nd Armored Div since I first got into FOW. During the TORCH landings, the 2nd AD landed their shermans south of casablanca in an area with the least amount of french opposition so that their shiny new sherman tanks wouldn't get destroyed immediately, but their Stuart tanks and their m3 75mm Tank Destroyers landed North of Casablanca where it took them 5 days to fight the french with the m3 75mm being used extensively as long range infantry support. Guess one could just use the m10 option at 1/2 the cost to represent the m3 75mm?

I know there is a bunch of people that have wanted to try Team-Yankee or just haven't been able to get enough stuff to do something with it so I created this event with the Idea of us players that have plenty of stuff to help those that want to try Team-Yankee, or New, or Slow at collecting What: Team-Yankee Team event - tournament style - 3 rounds. When: November 18, 2017 (start time coming later) Where: Oregon City Geeks & Games, Oregon City, OR, on Beavercreek Rd. Cost: $12 per person. WHO: Looking for up to 10 Veteran players and up to 10 Recruits. Veteran players are those with at least 120pt armies that they can split to roughly 70/50 (+- 5 pts either way just so the total does not exceed 120). So that also means a 2-force army such as Leopard1 company and Marder company. Veteran player uses the 70pt portion while letting the Recruit use the 50pt portion. If someone needs help being a Veteran, I have my West Germans available as back-up. Each round, there will be a different pairing of team-mates, 1 Veteran & 1 Recruit. The Veteran will use the 70 pt force while the recruit that he is currently teamed up with will use the 50 pt force. Veterans, your score will be your teams game score such as 4-3, or 5-2. Recruits will get the chance of playing with a different army each round and your scores will be seperate from the Veterans score. Recruits get 1 point for each opponent platoon that they finish off destroying. So, the Veteran is responsible for controling the game mission and the Recruits just need to kill stuff. Prizes will be separate between Vets & Recruits. I am aiming for these categories along with door-prizes and if enough are interested in some type of best painted.   22. Ok, so I finally clicked on all the preorder items. I think they have the wrong price for the halftrack platoon, should be $36. So don't preorder it until BF spots the error. They must be used in conjunction with mortars, machine guns, and other misc platoons to convert them to armored rifle company. Looked at the division recon and I have two of those 60mm mortar jeeps. All it is is the guy sitting in back is holding the mortar tube in his lap, can be mounted in any jeep or weapons carrier or halftrack. I used to only run armored engineer platoon that used only 3 halftracks, but since I don't need command halftracks with the priests, they get transfered to the infantry to complete the armored rifle platoon. Now, all I need to get is 4x T28 and 1x white scout car and I will have everything except additional armored rifle company stuff. Getting excited about this book coming out since I have everything already.
