If KoC wasn't the next weekend I might have been able to swing this
-
Agree with kremmet on this one. I had the most fun with Warhammer in early 7th edition before they redid all the army books. I believe that was the peak of the ofcc for fantasy (attendance wise) aswell iirc
-
Forgot about your dwarves lol
-
getting out of fantasy games alltogether? :-(
-
Leaving here in a couple days. Need to know if i should pack an army (i hope i do). Any takers on a game?
-
The scene in seattle seems to have died down a bit. I personally am super excited to get playing KoW. Not so excited about AoS but if thats what people play i will still play it. Doesnt seem like there is much desire to play 8th or any version of it here. Pretty sure all of us that qualify for masters will be going to Vegas in February for an epic sendoff of 8th. I dont see it being played after that.

Isn't the 'Warlock on Death Engine' the Bell/Furnace?
That's what I thought too
-
I will be there too

AoS and KoW magic are very similar. Still not sure how i feel about magic playing a lesser role in these games.
-
What was bland about it? The units don't have as many unique special abilities as AoS or 8th which is really my only gripe. Magic in KoW feels a lot like magic in AoS minus summoning IMO.
-
Started with KoW then played a game of AoS using the AoS pts system and a couple house rules (alternating turns, if you are in combat you can only shoot what you are fighting, and you can only summon 20% of your starting point value).
This was my first game of KoW so winning wasn't as high a priority as figuring out how things work. I love how the movement phase works. Super smooth yet still very tactical as flank and rear charges can be init destroying. Love the one pivot mechanic which also applies to single models. Makes positioning your units for next turn super important. Turns are super quick which dispelled my fear of lack of interaction during opponents turn. Combat system is pretty straightforward. I think I like this system even more than 8th edition.
This was my second game of AoS. Was really looking forward to it. I love the variety GW has achieved with all of the special rules on warscrolls. Model by model movement really slows down the movement phase. Was just as much fun as I imagined using all my units cool warscrolls abilities. Unfortunately the rest of the game isn't that exciting. It's fun but I have fun playing almost any game. Having no flank or rear really takes a lot (not all) of the tactics out of the movement phase. We played a scenario where we had to claim objectives which kept it from being a scrum in the middle.
I lost both games but it was a fun night of gaming. Difference was KoW actually made me think a lot more than AoS. Set up and pick up was also a lot faster. It also played faster and was more tactical. Usually more tactical means slower play so this was a pleasant surprise. I encourage everyone to try both games. I prefer KoW because its quicker to play and pick up while having much deeper tactics

Looking for the most recent style only. Would like 20. Just let me know and I am sure we can work something out, either trade or purchase
Edit: also looking for 10 boar riders (non savage)

Yeah it's pretty crystal clear IMO. The take save step is before determining damage step and it actually says that if your damge is more than 1 and you are attacking a unit of 1 wound models that you kill multiple models
-
have the rules in front of me and the order is
1.hit rill
2.wound roll
3.save roll
mechanics for those 3 are all pretty straighforward
4.determine damage
each succesfull attack inflicts a number of wounds equal to the damage on the weapon profile.
To me a succesfull attack is an attack that hit, wounded, and target failed their save.
So i have 4 attacks --> 3 hit --> 2 wound --> defender takes 2 saves and fails 1 --> my weapon damage is 2 so 2 wounds are inflicted

yeah we have been going to seaside every summer for as long as i can remember. My grandparents would take everyone down. They passed a couple years back but we are continuing with the tradition. Might think about heading further south one day of the trip. We will see

So i am renting a house August 12-16 in Seaside Oregon. If anyone wants to come for a game or 2 of AoS, KoW, or Fantasy one of those nights that would be awesome. Just let me know

So a video was posted asking for peoples thoughts. They give their thoughts (which were good observations imo) and then get yelled at for posting off topic. I am very confused right now. I guess people can't express their thoughts on a video unless it's the thoughts someone wanted to hear. The guy brought up some interesting things but I agree with dkieft 100%. Let's keep it civil and not attack someone else's observations

I don't mind the movement shenanigans either. I think Swedish comp addresses cheap character spamming to address it iirc. Also things like sabretusks are usually pretty easy to kill so its not like there aren't a lot of counters out there

see now i can dig this look. it really is the sunflower-lightning-bolt-masquerade helmets that turn me off.. also they need to lay off the gold paint lol
now that is a badass looking knight. Also was totally joking on the poll thing; hence the winky face
-
Maybe we should set up a poll? I bet Don't Panic's theory proves true ;-)
-
Interesting. Only problem I see is it will take forever to move those formations model by model

D3 scatter, d6 wounds that randomize. Should have clarified

Nate: cannons not randomizing means they ar e doing double wounds to ridden monsters. I think d3 is probably better than d6. I agree with swan.
BroG: your still rolling the misfire dice twice(bounce and roll)
