Thanks for answering Pretre! 100% correct.
Spellcasting is complicated. But, it works well in practice and is pretty similar to how 1e/2e worked, except that you don't need to 'prepare multiple castings' for a single spell.
-
They are mostly in the spell descriptions…...
When in doubt, I get to decide ;)

I thought the first step to starting blood bowl was cultivating a healthy amount of self loathing?
Practicing throwing dice...
Being able to consistently roll a 1 when you absolutely least need it...
Oh... And punching oneself in the nuts repeatedly...
:)
Oh god...I'm usually a really good sport. Blood Bowl has succeeded, once, at making me get so pissed off that I threw dice. Sorry for the (indirect, bounced off the wall) dice to the face, Shane! There is no need for a passing template. There is a chart that is standard now for it. Here is the Passing Sheet that will have the chart on it.
The passing template is needed to determine who can intercept, if you are being competitive about it. In a 'friendly' game, you can just wing it.
Blood Bowl is fun, and I wish we played more of it. The league a few years ago was going strong for a while, but kinda fell apart. Depending on how the OFCC schedule is this year, I kinda want to do either Rat City Rumble (if they are still going) or SPIKE this coming year.
I think putting together and/or converting your team is a really fun part of it. I made a Norse team, the Isefjord Pillagers, from GW marauder bits and some Reaper minis.
If you want a second team to have friends play, Orcs is always a good choice. Humans get a bit of everything too (that's I'm sure why Orcs v Humans are the teams in the old retail box).
Depending on the version of the computer game you've been playing, you may or may not be familiar with the latest rules that most of the tourneys use, the CRP, along with the extra teams.
With the release of a bunch of LotR and Hobbit sets, I may have to look into putting together my custom Lego High Elves again...
Let me know if you get stuff together, I'd love to play. I have a team and lots of dice; just no pitch.
-
LotR is much closer to 25mm scale (vs. Warhammer's 28...30...32mm creeping scale). Brets are much closer to scale than a lot of other WH stuff though, so no idea how it'll fit in.
There are a LOT of options for historical 28mm figures, too.

Did anyone go?
How was it? (the experience, not the special - it's terrible)

I'm 'cautiously excited' about more of a historicals approach to army lists; here's a bunch of units, here's a few army lists that you can build armies from to represent different areas, times, and special story/character things. An elf book with a bunch of elf units, then lists for High Elves, Dark Elves, and Wood Elves (pre reconciliation), lists for the opposing armies of Malekieth/Teclis and Tyrion (spoilers), and one for the forces of the new Phoenix King. The same for the armies of Chaos. Separate, combined, ones for special characters or situations. A book for Armies of Men and Dwarfs - Empire, Bretonnian, Dwarfs, combined, etc.
No idea what will actually happen, of course.
In summary, neither super-hyped nor super-dismal about it. We'll see.

As they say, better to be lucky than good :)
Or both lucky and good. 7-token Comet of Cassandora, anyone? It managed to kill all but one of my guys and yet only 3 of your peasants :D

Boycott Bikini Brew... that biz model is even worse that Hooters, if that's possible.
Oh yea - trust me, I wasn't seriously suggesting that, I was mocking it.
Since we're talking food (and sorry I can't really help with coffee that's indoors - on the occaision that I get it on the way in to Ordo, I get it at the Dutch Bros drive thru nearby), Green Dragon over Pacific Pie? How's the food at Green Dragon?
-
There's a Bikini Brew a block away, but that might not be all that warm...especially if they make you wear the uniform ;)

You should aim for the spoon. We all get it at some point.
Believe it - he did back-to-back sword-spoon :)
-
Did you get a good spoon too? I generally have a far better chance of winning that ;)

Yyyyyeaaaah. I'm going to try to get the shrine done for the Rampage this weekend. Nothing else will be done, but dangit, I want to show it off, and it needs to be nearly finished to be glued together, so it's getting done!

May your gas tank and beer stein be ever full!
But don't mix up the two!

Sigh. In a move possible like throwing oneself into a volcano, I've also made a submission. So at least they're be two of us, minimum ;)

A couple of notes:
If you want to run Nurgle, do it! Even if other people are, if that's what you want to do, do it. That said, for flavor reasons I run Tzeentch/Slaanesh, so welcome to the realm of uncontrolled magic and flayed skin!
To expand on what dkieft and djellum are saying, a marauder with light armor, shield, and the Mark of Tzeentch is a T3 model with a 5+ armor and a 5+ parry or 6+ ward for 8 points. A warrior with shield and Mark of Tzeentch is a T4 model with a 3+ armor and a 5+ parry or 6+ ward for 17 points - almost exactly 2 for 1.
For the same price, would you rather have 40 marauders or 20 warriors? How many will you have left of each after a round of combat with the same enemy? Essentially, the warriors are pretty much always better.
HOWEVER, the difference is not that much. Unless you are a competitive player playing other very competitive players, there's no reason not to run a 5-wide, 8-deep block of Tzeentch marauders if you like the idea! Just make sure you have something else with some punch to support them, because as noted, they won't do a ton of damage or win a grind. If you like chariots, knights, giants (another fun but suboptimal choice), trolls, ogres, or other hard-hitters that could use the support of some ranks, they'll love the marauders.
...you could also run massive blocks of unmarked, unequiped bodies. Most other armies would kill for models as cheap and well-statted as your base marauder. Flavor-wise, they are the ravening hordes of tribesmen trying to catch the eye of one of the chaos gods by throwing themselves into battle.

You haven't met my special characters yet.

Where on the tank does the Spicy Mustard go? :D

Further progress: the wood floor of the shrine is done (had to do it first as the drybrushing hits the bronze metal bits). The first layer of blue hiliting is done, and the second is started. Surprisingly, this isn't taking as long as I would have thought.
The runes in the ring didn't work out well. I'll go back over it and figure something out.
Does a simple black on a 'stone' object with gloss varnish read as obsidian? Going to have to do some research...
Also working up the flames and the glowing coals.
-
Oh man, I want to shoot it with a cannon! Haha, that is looking very cool.
Go ahead - 4+ or 3+ ward and 5 wounds, I'd rather you shoot that than a lot of my other stuff

Shrine progress photos!
It's basecoated and washed. I'm going to put the chains on and attach it to the beast tonight - everything I want to paint is accessible even after it's attached, and it'll help the whole thing come together as one piece too.
The pillar/ring, showing the start of the glowing runes idea. We'll see how it turns out... Might work on that while I wait for the glue to dry on the shrine/beast.
The sacrificial altar. I'll probably add another layer of blood effects. At the tip of the design on the bottom is where it drains into a matching slot in the main body of the shrine and falls into the pit.

Ugh, I've been sick. It sucks. Finally felt like painting again on Sunday. I probably won't have time or energy to finish anything but the shrine for the Rampage, but hopefully it'll overwhelm all the other unfinished/old stuff ;)
The shrine is based except for a few little hangy-bits here and there. I'm going to finish up that tonight, glue the additional support chains that I want on, and then wash the whole shebang tonight.
I'm going to paint the column and ring of the shrine as the same stone/cooled lava (basalt?) as my basing scheme. To get the runes in the ring to pop, after I painted the ring the base dark grey, I filled the inset runes with thinned white paint - thin enough that it flowed easily, and thick enough that it covered quite well. I'll wash the white runes with blue, then drybrush the lighter grey stone over the top to clean up. Should end up with glowy runes. If it needs more, I can try to edge-hilite the runes, but I'm hoping not to - that would take FOREVER.
Updates as progress happens.

Unless you want to take hours to move one unit of 50 clanrats, my advice is to get movement trays ;)
More seriously, I am really happy with my trays from shogunminiatures.com
Get the steel lipped trays in good sizes, with the mag bases to fill - they glue really well to the bottom of GW bases and work even better if you are crazy and using solid resin bases or something. Because the trays themselves don't really add anything to the size of your unit, yo ucan stack em - say, for a unit of 50 clanrats run 5x10, you can use two 5x5 trays, one behind the other, and remove the back one when the first 25 die. Depending on how you run units, you can also use a horde tray (say, 10x5, or even just two 5x5's next to each other) or maybe a 7-wide tray.

Excited about this. I doubt I will finish painting anything but the shrine (SO MUCH DETAIL) by then, but it'll be a fun time!
Too bad they are far more expensive than a pawn shop sword, but we need one of these as a prize so we can actually attack each other with it.

Guhhhhhhhh I've been sick for a week. How did it go?
