  1. played a couple of games on this the other day after I recovered from my bike crash. Miles you really outdid yourself, it was great to play on and all of the terrain that works for Saga looks fantastic on the board. The pictures really dont do it justice.

  2. I got to play against my friend from Seattle who used his Irish yesterday. The Irish are a good mix between the Welsh and a more combat based warband. They have units of 1 called champions that act like mini warlords. At first I thought they would be easy to deal with but the Irish also have several abilities that buff both the champions and warlords making them a real pain in the ass. We played battle at the ford and while I had some good rolling and early successes, I ended up getting bogged down and wasn't able to cause enough early damage. Our warlords did kill each other in a epic fashion on the bridge which is always cool. I think the main reason I lost was because I took a levy unit when we were only playing 5 points. If I had taken another warrior unit I would have had 6 saga dice a turn and a couple more bodies to eat up all his shooting.

I still think Saga is a good game. It seems to be all about setting up powerful counter punches while taking your opponents strikes on the chin. If your units cant support each other than you are going to lose. Also there are a lot of ways to manipulate the 4 inch push back after winning a combat that can really add to the strategy of the game.

  3. update times!

I finished my unit of berzerkers. I tried to make them look a lot more feral than my other models, which was pretty easy with the torsos and heads that Koyote sent me. Thanks again for those bud.

I will try and add some runic tattoos when painting them to make them even more feral looking.

  4. I like the color contrasts and scaling of the shield patterns...it will make the subtle stuff stand out even from across the table.  The red-on-black raven really catches my eye; there are more ornate shields, but that one stands out.

You should bring them up to Olympic Cards & Comics this Saturday for Saga Smash I so I can take a closer look!

I would love to come to a Saga event but unfortunately I work on the weekends for the next three weeks. After that classes will start again and I will have a little more flexibility. How often are there Saga events in the area?

  5. ok, update time.

paxmiles- having sculpted a model from scratch, I have to say it is much easier and faster to convert than begin from nothing.

I finally finished my unit of hearthguard.

  6. Sherbert will be crushed beneath the inexorable treads (or was it flowers?) of Athel Loren.

That is, he's playing Fantasy with me.

try again forest scum, my steam tank will burn down your forests and mash your puny elven bones. Behold the power of industry, bow down to your new lords of war.

  7. I like it so far.

I am strongly in favor for closed lists, they provide a tactical challenge and can make things more of a mind [big bad swear word] for opponents. There are also several abilities and spells that become useless with open lists.

The special characters is difficult, I personally really like the idea of no special characters but I have always hated them.

the half points for fleeing units and units below half starting value I think will work. I have heard of tournaments on the east coast doing similar things.

  8. Hey guys, a close friend of mine designed and released a game called Eidolon over the weekend. The game is a post apocalyptic exploration game based in the Pacific Northwest. It is similar to Proteus except with more activities and direction for the player while creating a relaxing atmosphere. I helped a little with world creation and writing but Kevin Maxon, the creator, did the lions share of the work.

    Here is the release trailer.

The game is only $15 on Steam and i would appreciate if you guys could check it out because depending on how it does in the first couple of months will decide on if he continues to pursue his passion in game development.

    Thanks a bunch.
