I tuned out of WFB after 6th because the prospect of buying, modeling, and painting a new army was too much of a time burden. That doesn't even include carting around hundreds of models, setting up, and playing a game! 

 

I saw the Age of Sigmar models and thought, "That's like four, maybe even five, awesome Blood Bowl teams in that box!" 

 

I read the four-pages of rules and thought, "That actually sounds like a fun, and almost-as-importantly short, game to play."

 

I read the free Warscroll updates and thought, "Wow, now this sounds really fun. And they even brought back some classic units that they didn't have to, for even more fun."

 

Now I'm excited to buy the box set. At least I'll get some BB teams out of it, and at most I'll have a whole new fun game to use my WFB army that hasn't seen a table in ten years. 

 

I'm only one gamer, but I'd say GW: Mission Accomplished.

Maybe now I can make that army with the Ranger-General Sylvos Tahl'Veras the Huntsman,  leading his army of stalkers and dual wielding forest assassins. 

I can create that army lead by Dornatha the Verdant Rage and his handmaidens of the thorn.

I can play that army and not take 3 hours so my wife txts me at 10 asking me when the [big bad swear word] I am going to be home.

I mean seriously, embrace change and give it a shot.  Worst case scenario you lost a few hours of your life.  Hell I do that every time I take a [big bad swear word].

Those who have bought tickets for the Open events will have the opportunity to enroll in the Team events.  Please contact John Kersey (Sylvos) or Joel Talley (BigTal) for assistance and information on how to move into the Team events.  Otherwise they will have their tickets refunded and we are sorry that we had to cancel the event.

Ahhh. Just as many of us had thought, formations and detachments for AoS.... I just wonder if the old armies will have any, or if those will be limited to new forces going forward only...

"End Times broke the game" - actually it broke the meta.  The game had been broken long before, we had just found ways to deal with it.

Even with all of those terrible broken issues, I loved the game.  This rule set seems streamlined.  I can appreciate that.

Seriously, let's take a step back and realize that you can still play 8th edition all day long.  When AoS drops I will be moving forward and giving it a shot.  If AoS does not foster a strong gaming community then well, there is always the successful 40k.  I love 8th edition and think it was their best product.  It however has ended and is no longer supported so I shall move on and try something new.  Embracing change.  It doesn't work for everyone but I'll give it a shot.

Actually the 2 day needs 12 players to hit the 50% threshold.

We are moving forward with the event anyway however.

Maybe they've finally decided to go all-in on their stated mission of making beer and pretzels games.  

I personally think that abandoning points in favor of models is a step in the right direction.  The sudden death mechanic is dicey and looks to be a chancy option that is a "deployment" gamble.

I really can't wait to just field my army the way I want it and rock out with my cock out.

I am super friggin excited to play this game.

Seriously, like I will be playing this during OFCC after the games are over.

I can't wait for ALL the warscrolls!
