The Deffkopta is to give Scout to the Big Mek on Bike with 4++ KFF so he can keep up with the 5 Battlewagons. Plus it gives me the excuse to field the Ork Bi-Plane I made way back when Deffkoptas were first introduced... rule of Kewl, don'tchaknow.
For 15 points the Boarding Plank is too expensive for the mere +2" to charge range it provides, but I already have the converted Battlewagons with running boards. As it's for the Ghaz-Grotsnik-3 Manz unit to make more sure they get their Rampage-laden assault off, with a second unit as backup it's justifiable, but not for all 4 MAN-carrying Battlewagons.
The Fifth battlewagon shall basically be a Grot caddy, as will one of the other Battlewagons after they drop off their load of Armored Orky Death .

Hmph, looks like I'll be heading down Friday as well. Just got the school calendar in the mail and it's an early release day on that Friday, so I've got to be there to pick up the kiddos.
Therefore, no 40K Open for me. (le sigh)

I would've done that too, but the chance to get an extra night painting & nerding with the herd is too much to pass up.
Plus I might convince some people to play fortress America in open gaming on Thursday, perhaps.
My secret plan is that as your roomie, I'll also get invited to all those swank, hipster after-parties and dinner invitations with the cool kids you get invited to as well.
-
I'm planning on getting a room without a team this time. You can share my room. Since I live in Everett we could even Carpool there & back, depending if you're heading down Thursday.

Now I just need one of the two teams I've contacted to tell me I'm in and I can pay for OFCC and the hotel and start painting everything suitably Goff-y

"Look at your MANz, now look at me..."
Just digging through bitz I found another 2nd Ed Mega Armored Nob. Great! Now I don't have to chop up the 2nd Ed Ghazghkull Thraka I traded for to have one full unit of 5 Aulde Skool MANz. The 2nd Ed Makari will come along to represent either the Lucky Stick or the lone non-Fearless unit's Bosspole.
Lining up the models, I have enough to do both these lists...
With 8 more MANz and a Mega Armored Warboss sitting on the sidelines.
Sick. Evil. Wrong.
Who could ask for anything more?

Yeah... that would probably get me a 3++ Army rating even if I Outflanked everything but the Grots. One turn to kill 22 models or else five Battlewagons full of pain coming in from the sides

Main reason to do it is it will play fast and with 4 Fearless units I won't have the frustration of units losing models due to Mob Rule.
Alas, only one CAD and one Formation, otherwise I'd squeeze in the 5 Scouting Battlewagons as well. Hmm.... What's the Team Tourney limitations again? Could I fit in One CAD, and two Formations for the games on Staurday & Sunday?
I'm bringing 4 deathstars where most only bring one. Although I'm tempted to reserve everything but the Grots and give my opponent an auto-win (assuming they can kill 22 models in the first turn...) and then playing the rest of the game for Gits & Shiggles.

Here's a list I've been toying with:
LoW
Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka (Warlord)HQ
Mad Dok Grotsnik
HQ
Big Mek, Mega Armour, KFF, Lucky Stick
ELITES
3 Mega Armored Nobz in a Battlewagon w Ram, Boarding Plank and Big Shoota
BULLY BOYZ FORMATION (Counts as Elites)
5 Mega Armored Nobz in a Battlewagon w Ram, Boarding Plank and Big Shoota
5 Mega Armored Nobz in a Battlewagon w Ram and Big Shoota
5 Mega Armored Nobz in a Battlewagon w Ram and Big Shoota
TROOPS
10 Grots w Runtherd
10 Grots w RuntherdIt comes to around 1850 points. I can add 150 points and make it my Team list as well (another 3 Mega Armored Nobz in a Trukk perhaps...)
So, Silly, Too Tough, or an army you'd want to face for the challenge of it?
-
Well, my usual partners in crime are either having an event of their own close to OFCC, or planning on hiking in the woods and not rolling dice (I know, right?) or taking a break from 40K.
So either I can fill in on a team or can Captain a team of similar singletons since I've been to three OFCCs now.
Here's hoping I'm not too slow off the starting line to get in. I've already lined up the Childcare necessary to go for all 4 days.
I can get previous Captains to vouch for me if the need arises.

Bitz, models, and old issues of Citadel Magazine already in boxes marked "trade Bait" ready to go.

It won't be like how TV shows make it look, so be warned.
My wife had to make the same decision, and her father lingered two days until her own birthday. So if there's a specific day this week which holds significance for you or your family ask the Doctors to plan accordingly.

Just trying to square what the rulebook says vs the NOVA/BAO guidelines. I rarely get time off to play so tournaments are basically my only option for 40K.
I really don't want to step on anyones toes bringing a Big Mek with Lucky Stick from Codex: Orks, a Big Mek with 4++ KFF from Codex : Ghazghkull, the Bully Boyz Formation from Codex Ghazghkull and the rest of the CAD from Codex Orks (whose Troops would be Objective Secured).
Is an all-Mega Armored Nobz army too much to ask for?
-
You've got more important things for your attention than moving little man-dollies around a table right now.
Take good care of yourself now so that you can better handle whatever life throws your way next.

So for a confuzzled Ork Player:
Ork Codex by itself = OK
Ork Codex + any non-Ork Codex as an Ally = OK
Ork Codex + allied Ghazghkull Codex = Not OK ?(because you can't ally with your own faction unless you're Marines of two different paint schemes)
Ork Codex + single Ork Formation (regardless of source? Ork Codex as main and add in the Bully Boyz formation from the Ghazghkull codex) = OK ?

1PM-ish.... I'll be able to get in some shopping on the way down, then

Yep, but the artichoke & parmesan dip for sourdough bread can be next to the veggie platter...

I used to cater regular events for a community center, so I'll bring along the four basic snack groups: Sugar, Salt, Chocolate, and Fat

I'd be a potental attendee as well. I still haven't got in a game of 7th Edition yet and would benefit from the crowd input on what I 'm doing wrong.
Depends (as always) on childcare availability, though.
-
Just dug my Orks out of storage last weekend... I've got 26 MANz already (not counting "Bad Moon Paintjob headswap" Ghazghkull and Codex Armageddon cover artwork inspired Ghazghkull conversion), so of course I'm going to get the new box set.

Hmm... better slow down the Ork Codex release so we can offload these things. Hope no one notices the missing Iyanden hardcover too.

I've got a squad of ten half-kitbashed Flash Gitz in a box waiting for the Codex to drop. I haven't got 7th Edition yet, and if the Ork Codex sucks I think I may take my first hiatus from 40K in... holy crap, 20 years?!?
I'm still obsessing about last year's OFCC where I had the worst single game experience I've ever had in those two decades of play (Would it have counted as a ragequit if I table-flipped after only the terrain had been set up?) and since the implied social contract of both players having fun seems to be as rare as a Best Sportsmanship award at 'Ard Boyz nowadays.
Way back in the day I won my first tournament with Orks, and have amazing fun converting models for the army. I started playing Orks when I realized I had more Ork models and conversions (oh random Bioniks chart, such an inspiration) because after picking up a few models here and a few models there I set up a full greenskin horde practically ready for play. I stopped playing Orks because I am deliberative about my moves in a game, and that's something one simply cannot be when fielding a horde. My natural play style could easily be mistaken as deliberate slow play, which is why I switched to Mega Armored Nobz, then Sisters, and later on to Grey Knights in order to speed up my play for my opponents sake.
So, Ork Codex = bad I probably won't play 40K for quite a while.
C'mon greenskins.... show me a little WAAAAAAGH

Six Burna Boy squad, three of which are Meks, plus Grot Riggers for IWND...
Still looks too boxy to my eye, though.
Ordo Open 1850 list - Mega Armored Nobz

Sadly, it looks like I won't be able to make it to the Open, and will have to fight Rush Hour traffic all the way down to get to the Friday Night Bitz swap in time.
Otherwise, the Battlewagon Blitz formation backed up by KFF Bike Mek & Deffkopta would provide a nice 'forward base' from which an Ork army could dictate the terms of engagement.
