  1. Premier shooting unit of 40k my green ass!

    versus T4:

    1 Flash Git 22 points, (2 wounds at a 6+)
Range: Stand and shoot, 24" to get BS 3
    3 shots
    BS3 1.5 hits
    1 wound
50% chance of 0.33 wounds or 1 wound vs. 3+ armor
Average .667 wounds vs. 3+ armor

Damage drops against units in cover

Can hurt rhinos, AP 1 and 2 better on damage table, threaten 2+ saves

    4 Shoota Boyz, 24 points (4 wounds at a 6+)
Range: move 6" and shoot 18", 24" total
    8 shots
    5.33 hits
    2.66 wounds
0.887 unsaved wounds vs. 3+ armor

Damage the same regardless of cover

    more attacks in assault

    Objective secured rule

Shoota boyz have slightly better damage output, twice the durability, can assault better and have objective secured. (facepalm)

Flashgit models are cool but $10 each is steep.

  2. Only Chaos and maybe AM should have access to malefic daemonology. Marines should be able to summon legion of the damned or something instead of daemons. Eldar should summon some kind of spirit unit. There should be huge consequences for summoning daemons that just aren't reflected in the rules.

Marked units should only be able to summon units of the same god, and in exchange get free champs and standards. Undivided would have flexibility but not the bonuses. This would slow down the cheese of the summoning farm lists.

I've been waiting 20 years for Khorne to have good psychic defense. Dog collars don't count.

This is codex specific but the Champion of Chaos rule is ridiculous. Most Chaos leaders are self serving weasels, not suicidal dumbasses. My shotgun wielding cultist challenges you, Draigo! Let's ignore the 49 cannon fodder I brought with me and settle this like men!

AM should not have been rolled into the loyalist ally matrix. Chaos corrupts guard type forces on a regular basis, and have standing armies of such forces. Autogun cultists just aren't competitive compared to platoons. Traitor humans are one of the most common enemies for Marines in the fluff. The only other forces on that scale are Orks, bugs, and AM. Speaking of which, AM type armies sometimes employ Ork mercenaries or vice versa, and genestealer cults are a thing. Desperate / CTA just doesn't feel right.

I like all aspects of the hobby, and breaking the thematic elements bugs me. Part of the reason that I want balanced rules is to encourage fluffier lists without having exploitable comp rules or long pregame discussions.

    What's bugging you?

  3. Suggestions for Maelstrom:

Both players start with the same hand and diverge from there.

You both draw a max of one card per turn (or two depending on mission) regardless if you succeeded in scoring or not

  4. Every git has a bosspole? Odd.

Hey... no 'eavy armor? Not even an option for it? 22 points doesn't sound so hot anymore.

Not one kustom job is available, that's kind of weak. The rumors had a big list including skyfire.

40mm bases? Dafuq? Lame, no reason for 40mm on a model with a 6+ save if you ask me.

The pirate hat is good, I wonder how many other hats are in the kit.

I'll stick with my unplayed black orc Flash Gitz conversions, they have silly hats and grot helpers. Bad Moonz of course, da richest. Not sure if I want to take the time to re-base them, when I could field them as Lootas.

That new mini stompa thing is a'ight, but it looks fairly simple to scratchbuild / kitbash one as soon as we have the dimensions down. I agree that a Knight or Stompa would be a much better purchase if you are going over $100. The model is a box with big feet and weapons, not exactly hard to replicate for experienced Ork modelers. Oooh, maybe we should have a modeling contest!

I really hope the new book doesn't let us down, it's been about a six year wait. There is some NASTAYYYY drek flying around the battlefield now.

Hmmmm, time to look for Mork-obot parts.

  5. I'm going to have to insist that any of you with HBO access watch the following:

True Detective: Police procedural / character study in the bayou, with a super creepy atmosphere. VERY well done. Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey star.

Eastbound and Down: Irreverent comedy done right... about an egomaniac washed up baseball star, his foul mouthed but submissive toady, and tons of other characters that come and go. Great writing, pacing, and delivery. Definitely on the offensive side. Danny McBride stars, but don't miss Will Ferrell's character.

Curb Your Enthusiasm: From Seinfeld co-creator Larry David, a parody of his own life in LA with lots of misunderstandings and narrative irony.

    Game Of Thrones: Duh

Bored To Death: An aspiring NYC writer tries his hand at being an unlicensed Private Eye. Lots of nods to noir and a fair amount of stoner jokes. Zach Galifianakis, Jason Schwartzman and Ted Danson all take turns being hilarious.

    .......

On Netflix streaming, Attack On Titan is well executed and beautifully drawn. I am super picky about anime, this is one of the best. Season 2 is supposedly going to be released in July.

For current movies, I just saw Neighbors and it was funnier than I expected. 8/10. A young couple trying to stay hip feuds with a frat house. They have a baby that gets left at home a lot. Lots of dick jokes. Seth Rogen plays the same witty stoner he always does, and Rose Byrne was pretty good as Rogen's wife. For the frat Zac Efron is actually a great fit for his role, Jr. Franco is decent, but Christopher Mintz Plasse gets on my nerves. Tons of cameos. There are some pretty unrealistic elements, but it's a screwball comedy. Charming people doing reprehensible things works here, although you have to be in the right mood for some of the bawdier / dumb material. This is basically a Judd Apatow style movie.

  6. Thanks guys, I am painting this guy up fast and I'll probably finish tomorrow, and hopefully have some better pics soon.

The Forgefiend cannons would work really well. Funnily enough I used the Forgefiend plasma cannon arms to make 2 LR Executioners a while back. One I put on a turret, and the other I mounted on top with some wires and chaos flesh going on.

  7. Sorry the photos are so blurry, I'll update sometime with in progress painting pics. I can't figure out how to delete the post.

I put quite a bit of work converting this already assembled $20 ebay tank. I just primed it, but C&C welcome. He'll count as Pask. I might swap out the heavy bolters for multimeltas or even magnetize. I plan to add a stubber too.

    The gun is from Robogear.

  8. Another option is to get 6 dowels of the same size and glue them together, then finish off with bits. You could even use BBQ skewers. I think Punisher cannons just got a whole lot more popular now that Pask can Rend with them, has P.E., and can re-roll against armor. They might be hard to find.

  9. I'm looking forward to having an interactive Psychic Phase that has a strategic element to it. Right now unless you have a Runepriest or Farseer or similar, you are stuck watching enemy psykers roll dice to see tons of slightly OP buffs go on guys to make them ridiculous. There are obvious winners and losers rolling on the psychic chart and it brings too much luck into the game. Hopefully it doesn't slow down the game.

The objective cards could be really fun and keep the game dynamic, as it is now sometimes you have no chance turn 2 or 3 but are honor bound to play the game out and watch the rest of your guys die. It's good for the game if both players have a chance to catch up and surprise each other.

The unbound deal should be reserved for people that work things out ahead of time, it doesn't sound good for events. You thought spam was bad before, just wait until you only see three kinds of FOTM units across the table. Hopefully spam lists will struggle to take advantage of most of the objective cards.

This could be a great edition. Let's hope for the best.
