  1. And this is no way a comment on anyone who played, all gents!

Just found this to be a more articulate way to describe what sets Infinity apart from the rest of the industry!

I get it Chris! You had a bad game with me, I'm a bad person   Now I have to turn the wrath of my MAF towards the planets of the Yu Jing! Muhahahahaha

  2.

Here is my first Infinity list to start playing with.

I think the dual Sogarat will be fun to play, and I also hope the 5 man Morat link team will pump up the production of their HMG. That being said, I am super new and this could crash and burn every time it hits the table. Not that it matters, nothing is cooler than playing Monkeys! :)

I'm seeing this happen a bunch in list building on the forums. You can run your link team in combat group one with all your other guys. Leave maybe the Yaogat or Sogarat in combat group 2. What this does is give your link team 10 orders to use instead of only 5. This makes them more effective.

The Daturazi are impetuous. This means at the beginning of your turn, you have to use their impetuous order on them, they get no benefits of cover and they have to move directly towards the closest enemy model. If they are in a link team, you ignore the impetuous orders and all of the effects. They can then use cover normally and don't have to move to the closest enemy.

Here is a variant of the list I'm using this weekend for a tournament:

As models in group 1 die, I use command tokens to move a model from group 2. Keeping my main group of big guns and heavy hitters maxed on orders.

  3. I was just giving you a little grief, George! I assume the league is free, though? Or is there some small charge to participate?

    Thanks!

    -Tim

Good question. I've talked to Greg at SSG and I suggested that we charge $10 for the league. This will help pay for prize support and such. This fee will get you into the tournament we're having at the end of the league. Depending on how many people we get in the league will affect the amount of prize support. If we have room in the tournament after the league for more people, we'll open it up to others who would have to pay for a spot in the league, probably $10 as well.

  4. George!

I swung by SS and picked up my figs! Yay!

But there were no maps/missions/charts/free stuff/etc on the shop walls yet! Was I just a bit too early? :)

Are there any special 'rules' we need to know for an Esc. League? Using the same faction throughout? Can we change the list from game to game, or just add more stuff to the list we start with? Figures must be painted, I assume?

I should even have my book by then! :)

    -Tim

I'll post the missions each week at the store. Not sure what free stuff you're looking for. If there is anything specific you need, let me know and we'll see what we can do. You can play whatever faction you want throughout the whole thing. You can change up if you want to. Just have to go by the points for the week.

  5. The reason I have them in group 2 is because I was going to fire team (link team, whatever the term).

In that case, you want them in the group with the most orders. Then you can use all 10 orders on that fireteam if you choose to. It makes them much more effective.

  6. I think I have to keep the kuang shi together in the same group. They sound awesome but don't know how they really work out on the table top. Do you think I should drop them altogether and bulk up the first group?

You can move them all to the first group if you want to try them out or you can drop them and try something else. Try your list the way it is, play it and see how it works for you. You will probably see what I'm talking about as far as having limited orders. Then you can make a different list and drop them to try other models.

  7. The army builder is buggy so it isn't you, does it to me all the time. I'd make a full combat group of 10 models. This way you can rambo your tag around and kill everything without running out of orders too fast. As models die, you can use your command tokens to move models from group 2 to group 1 to keep your order count high.

  8. One of the big sayings in Infinity is "it's not your list, it's you". It's a really accurate statement. All the factions are very well balanced. Even between sectorials and vanilla, you'll find things are pretty even. So just like the others are saying, find the models you like and go from there.

  9. Raindog, all of these guys are right in what they are saying. The best thing to do is find the models you like the look and fluff of. The saying in Infinity is "It's not your list, it's you". It's a very true. It's a tactical dice game and all the factions are very balanced. If you want to come by Super Salty Gaming today, I can show you a few things. I'll be there between noon and 6pm.

  10. Nomads are a great starter army. They have a little bit of everything. Pan Oceania is another good starter army. They both come in the Operation Ice Storm starter box. It comes with dice, rules, starter missions, models for both factions.

  11. Just letting everyone know that we are starting an Infinity league at Super Salty Gaming every Saturday night at 6pm. Bring your models and stuff and we'll throw down. We're still setting it up but I think we'll start with an escalation league. Super Salty Gaming is a new store in Vancouver, Wa. Come support a new local store! They are located at the corner of NE 1st Street and 172nd Ave.

  12. George - you mentioned a few things at OFCC that I was looking for online.  One was a resource for building things… the other was a source for those stick on plastic disks to make my own counters?  I forgot both places to find those.  If you could please refresh my brain?

The website I was talking about was called http://www.data-sphere.net/

Check it out. Tons of cool information.
