I understand if you like certain models or already have models with the listed wargear, that you want to play with those models. However since you posted your list I also assume you want some input.

Your other list was probably better. It basically focused on doing one thing well and needed very little tweaking to take it to that next level.

This list takes the previous list and adds unnecessary shooting with overcosted models. Also again, way to many stormshield. The runic priest is great with the -1 power that also gives you the -1 stratagem.

Space wolves (with the exception of long fangs) want to be in combat because of the +1 ws (which also makes powerfist and thunderhammers way more accurate). Without a deepstrike stratagem, aggressors will most likely die in a turn without doing much themselves.

Your original list already had a great built in plan of waves of assault with scary things. It had a bit of fat that needed to be trimmed in order to make it even scarier but it had potential.

If you simply like the models (I also love the idea of th/ss werewolves) I say go for it with either list exactly as is.

    I disagree about the aggressors.

The list looks like it advances turn 1, with a turn 2 outflank from the aggressors as the wolf assault elements come into range.

The enemy deals with one or the other and  takes the counter punch.  If the aggressors live to turn 3 they are either dumping buckets of dice on everything around them, or moving up and fisticuffing with their bro’s.

    Looks fun 🙂

  2. I had a few minutes to work on some sky claws.  I decided to work on them in finishable batches instead of trying to churn through the whole lot and getting discouraged.

Base coats and wash done, I’ll move on to dry brushes and highlights next.

I tried to use more of the young ‘crazy space wolf’ heads, rather than the ‘old man’ grey hunter’y ones, to convey their blood claw status.  I’m actually really happy with the flock of seagulls mow hawk (which I normally dislike).

  3. I would argue that living in such a cold climate that body hair in general would be a dominant evolutionary trait.

Although 20k years might not be a long enough time line to see that sort of shift...

There are other blurbs throughout the wolf fluff that suggest the original settlers of fenris (and likely the fauna) were engineered to be able to survive on the planet.

That would be my last hope for any sort of justification of the points you raise.

    🙂

  4. Paint is complete on the priest.  Cork base to follow.

He was fun to work on, and reminds me stat wise of an old blood angel librarian from 3rd/4th ed.

With the fight last relic + his powers he should be Hel on the table.

The axe is iffy up close, but looks pretty spiffy from table top ranges.

Ok Ive been watching your progress on the wolves for awhile now (Ive had 3-4 sw armies at this point) and excellent work.

    But this...

This choked me up a bit.

As a dad it resonated with me too.

The reaction by the gaming (wolf) community on one of the larger forums (B&C) was pretty amazing.  Many members assembled/painted/shipped packs of wolves for his Great Company to Brand while he was in the hospital.

Its one of the examples of how good our community can be.

That looks awesome! Not sure I recognize the base Model, tho. Is it the version of Ahriman from Burning of Prospero?

He’s the red scorpion Forge World librarian, Sevrin Loth.

The shoulder pads are Burning of Prospero, and the axe is third party (spell crow) from guardian games.

    I’m pretty pleased so far.

  7. Having finished some significant armor I’m rewarding myself with some jump infantry.

I had a ton of misc wolf models, with a large batch of old metal jump packs.  Keeping with working into my existing collection I decided to combo the two.  Skyclaws here we come 🙂

Along with this roudy mob I’m adding in some wolf priest action, to keep the ‘claws’ pointed in the right direction.

Also, I’ll add in a few jump rune priests, for some added stormy punch.

    Should be fun.

  8. Just a little update:

I’ve been able to do a little work on the transports, and was pleasantly surprised in a game the other evening by their performance.

Just having a mobile wall(s) tooling around for the other boys to advance behind before pouncing was very useful.
