  1. A group of us are planning on going to this on a regular basis, first one is this Sunday 11/14/21. It will be every second Sunday from 1pm to 4pm. The hours of play may potentially be a bit more flexible since the stores hours on Sunday's are as follows 11am to 5pm. For this first session we are bringing 1500 points. I will have 2 full 1500 points lists and a 4'x4' mat and terrain for a table, for all of those interested in checking out the game and re-learning (or learning for the first time) the rules again. Hope to see you Princeps out.

  2. I believe the long term plan for this game is similar to how Warhammer Underworlds is done. In that the models and kill team rules would be designed with Kill Team in mind first and foremost and just a nice to have ability to use those same models in 40k if you play both games. Which to me is totally fine since I have stopped playing 40k and even if I did play both games it would be cool to have some small unique units I could use in either game. Before for people that only wanted to play Kill Team they would have to but a ton of kits to get all of the model options they needed for Kill Team. With the new model it appears you can always get by with 1 box of Kill Team models or worst case 2 boxes of models to get you all of the model options to run any configuration of a Kill Team. With the Ork Kommandos, there is almost zero reason to buy 2 boxes but with the Krieg I did end up getting 2 boxes to get all of the options I wanted and even in that case I gave a few models to my son so he could flesh out his Krieg Kill Team a bit more.

I've taken a look at the compendium and it will do for "get me by" rules. I think in order to really have a good Spec Ops campaign though, you'll rather have a full set like those currently in WD or in the box sets. I think where the compendium fails a bit is with armies that have uniform squads (ie eldar, necrons, nids, deamons). I would love to see actual Kill Teams made for those armies and hopefully that is what GW will do with future box sets. So for my tastes, I'll be limited on what factions I'll want to play currently because I really like variety in a skirmish game.

Yep my plan is to only play the "True" Kill Teams and they are planning on making "True" Kill Teams for all 40K armies at least by looking at the road mat they have done. For those armies that are further off they are doing the White Dwarf rules it appears anyway. The roadmap very much looks like a steady stream of bespoke Kill Teams. After playing a handful of games I absolutely love the rules for the game, my favorite GW Skirmish game for sure.

I've watched the two battle reports they have on warhammer+ and I have to say, I feel much better about the game. The back and forth flow of the game, the major differences between the two states a model can be in, it seems to have lots of nice tactical options. I was a bit put off at first with them changing things so dramatically from normal 40K rules, but now after watching, I completely agree with it. The ability to have the lower tier troops still do something tangible is fantastic. The difference in seeing las guns bounce off powered armor marines completely in 40k compared to in kill team doing a couple of wounds (which doesn't kill, but still is important) is significant. I think the biggest downside right now is going to be the slow release of full rule sets for the various factions. To my knowledge, we have ork kommandos, death korp vets, and from WD, rules for Admech. Upcoming we'll have sisters and tau pathfinders. Hopefully more WD rules will be released for factions.

We also have WD rules for Thousand Sons, I know most players that have been playing have been having a fun time with the Compendium rules only, there seems to be more local players playing compendium over the Kill Teams with full rules based on my experience.

I have the starter set and the terrain assembled. I haven't started in on the rules yet or built the two gangs. I saw a review on the "compendium" and it wasn't very promising (other factions basically getting bare minimum rules to play them). That being said, kommandos vs IG still seems really cool. I'll try to focus on getting those models built so I can at least play. Once the sisters hit, I'm hoping to get my wife in on it too.

Yah I chosen to just play the Kill Teams with "full" rules which technically there are are 4 right now, Veteran Guardsmen, Kommandos, Adeptus Mechanicus (via White Dwarf) and Thousand Sons (via White Dwarf). Soon we will have Tau and Sisters of Battle joining the battle. I have played around half a dozen games so far with numerous players and everyone I have played with has enjoyed the game a ton.

What is the review of the new edition? I didn't play the first one though, but was curious.

I am kind of obsessed with the new edition and I did play a lot of the old edition. To me its maybe my favorite skirmish game from GW and I have played Warcry, Adeptus Titanicus, Old Kill Team, Underworlds and New Necromunda. It just gets so many things right and once you wrap your head around how line of sight works and cover it flows so well. Highly recommended, working very hard to get everyone I know play it haha.

  7. Do you find yourself wanting to play games, but don’t have the time or money to start a big project? Then Skirmish Sunday is right for you!

Starting Sunday September 5th @12pm at Geeks & Games, we’ll be teaching, learning and playing a variety of smaller tabletop games, including Warhammer Underworlds, Adeptus Titanicus, Warcry, Kill Team, Infinity, Marvel: Crisis Protocol and more! If you’re looking to try out miniature gaming, skirmish games are a great place to start.

  8. Join us on August 28th from 1pm to 5pm at the Portland Game Store for a day of demos and casual games of Age of Sigmar third edition. We will have several full 1000p armies to try out and tables for people to play on. So if you don’t have anything you can try out an army (or bring your own 1000p army) and play on one of our tables. We will have several people on hand to teach people as well. Anyone is welcome to join even if you have never played a tabletop Wargame before.

Rad thanks for the heads up about Guardian. I was playing at the Portland Game store when they first opened a while back but they haven't started hosting any games yet. I cant make it to the Ordo club house nights on Thursday because of my schedule 😕

Yah its been struggle for a lot of game stores on figuring out how to be able to play in store again during the pandemic. Guardian just mandated that everyone in the store has to wear a mask again, starting today. Its nice that the Guardian Games night does not overlap any other local game nights that I am aware of anyway.
