  1. Just one week left to get tickets at the early bird price of $25! There are only 10 spots left for the tournament - we're at 22/32. We've got five sponsors for the event, so plenty of prizes to be raffled off at the end of the tournament.
  2. Yes, Ripples of Fate will be allowed. The book is released in September.
  3. My general rule on proxies is that it needs to not be confusing. The only time it's ever really confusing is if you're using one Wyrd model to represent another.
  4. OK, I've thought this through a bit and I'm going to change Reconnoiter to Guard the Stash for R4.
  5. The same venue hosts much larger Magic events on a fairly regular basis. There's a lot of on-street parking within a couple of blocks, as Romes says.
  6. Hey Orkdork, These are the strategies laid out by Gaining Grounds 2016 for events running in October, which is why they are there (and in that order). I think your point is pretty valid - having been the summoner in a situation like this, I totally agree. Let me think about it some more. I'm tempted to replace Reconnoiter with Guard the Stash.
  7. (Cross-posted from the Malifaux forum) I'm excited to announce our first 2-day Malifaux tournament! Green Lake Games in conjunction with St Andrew's Pub will be hosting a two day, 5 round tournament in Seattle on October 22nd and 23rd. Key data is below. Prize support includes play mats from Sparkle Party Death Mats, mystery boxes and limited editions from Wyrd and more! Guild scrip will be given to the best placed after victory points, as well as best painted as voted by the participants. As this is the first 5-round tournament in the Seattle area (as far as I'm aware - apologies if I'm wrong!) I want to make things a little easier so the round time is increased, and schemes are available ahead of time to help ease the crew selection process. Overview 50 Soulstones, single faction, 32 players maximum Gaining Grounds 2016 schemes (full breakdown below) All crews must be fully painted, 3-color minimum 2 hours per round Doors open at high noon on October 22nd, Round 1 begins 1pm $30 entry fee - $25 if paid before October 1! The venue is just opposite Green Lake Games, on Aurora Ave N, Seattle (map). Sponsors We have three sponsors so far, who have graciously donated prize support to be given out randomly as part of the event. They are: Green Lake Games (Malifaux models / gift certificates) Miner Creations (laser cut goodies) Sparkle Party Death Mats (Malifaux gaming mats) In addition, I'll be spending all my hard-earned Henchman soulstones to bring a full 32-person prize pack to the event, along with whatever else I have. That means Guilders for those who place highly, plus a bunch of mystery boxes and limited edition stat cards.

  9. @Romes is coming down to represent. The crew went up to Wet Coast just two weeks ago, and I have family in town so can't make it.
  10. Hey, happy to find this post already here :-) I was going to add one. We got the first month under our belt (Anthony with his Gremlins came out on top if you're interested) and will be starting a second league in July. I'm also going to organize a Henchman Hardcore tournament for the Monday in the middle of August - more info to come soon!
  11. In the interest of transparency: I've voted in favor of switching to Kings of War. This was the clear winner in our poll (22-15 vs all other options), and all the TOs who have responded to me have said they are either running or are interesting in running KoW events.
  12. @dont panic: After the last Masters, the format of the Paragon award changed to be (iirc) 50% Battle, 30% Paint, 20% sports. With giving out two equal awards, one to best general and one to best overall hobbyist, I would think that in our region we'd want to make sure that both were well represented. However, if we switch to KoW, I don't know how that will affect things. We don't have established patterns for tournament scoring in that game. As a TO, I want to promote beautiful armies at my events, and the way to do that is to reward people for having spent the hobby time on their minis. Ricky's Sparkle Party paint score sheet is probably the best I've ever seen, because it rewards effort, not results. So even if your two-brush blend looks like a pile of mud mixed with vomit, you'll get the points for having blending on your models. Ultimately, we could track everyone's generalship and hobbyist scores independently, and then invite our 4 best generals and 4 best paragons as the top 8. That's really up to Matt to decide because he's the regional chair next year.
  13. We miss you too :-) GROUP HUG! OK, that's quite enough of that - back to the topic!
  14. This coming from a guy who brought a horde of Tomb King Archers, Khalida and a Folding Fortress to a friendly tournament ;-) @Krieger, I think you really should try 3 or 4 games of Kings of War. Read the fluff. Field your Elves (I did and was surprised by how much I liked it). The tactical depth and the meta game are not in the list building or the rules knowledge (as Matt alluded to) but more in the game play itself. A game with little to no tactical depth would mean that two equal sides of armies would result in a win for the person who rolled the best dice. I don't think any of the games listed have that problem. KoW felt flat and bland to me at first because it ISN'T Warhammer when we really want it to be. Once you can get past that mind set (which I know is hard) it opens up what is actually a solid, enjoyable experience both on the table and off.
  15. As many of you know, I've been the PNW representative to the US Masters for the last couple of years. With the death of Warhammer, the tournament will have one final hurrah in February 2016 (8th edition, Swedish, with some End Times units) After that, we will be switching systems. It's pretty clear that there is very little support among the committee members for us to switch to Age of Sigmar, so that leaves really only a few options. 1) Kings of War 2) The Ninth Age 3) Something else fan-supported I'll be working with tournament organizers around the region to help them run events for whatever direction we take (and Matt Beasley will too, once he takes over from me), so I'm curious as to which system people feel they might be interested in playing. The metro area question is there to help gauge interest across the region. Thanks for answering!
  16. Ham Slamwich is cancelled. However, King of Cascadia, Attack-X and Kippers Melee are all still happening. Hope to see you at some of them. The US Masters is the first weekend of February - aka Superbowl Weekend. The Masters tournament will stop during the Superbowl and anyone there will get to watch the event with all the other competitors in Vegas. That will likely be the last large Warhammer tournament in the country, but what a great way to send off the game!
  17. Nate - there's always the train! Or maybe convince Sylvos to come too :-P
  18. Capitol Assault is likely canceled.
  19. King of Cascadia is back on, because TSHFT cancelled their WHFB event.
  20. Rules and ticket link added above. Hope to see you all there!
