  1. I have increasingly interested in KoW especially WHF has become a totally different game. Is there a KoW night in the Portland Vancouver area? If not would someome be interested in showing me the ropes?

  2. That thing is bogus as all heck.  Every time I have reserved a table I am told I need to wait to make sure there is one available when I show up.  That tool is complete BS and useless.  At least, in my experience with it.

Hey  man I screwed up. I have a volunteer responsibility this evening. I thought it was next month. I am going to have to take a rain check on the game. Are you free next Wednesday? Also I reserved a table. Never got a confirmation though. If you can get another player it ay be there in my name (Terell).

  3. In AoS nothing is going to be unkillable.  Ironguts are by their nature very good in this new system, it was not suprising that the monster fell to a unit of great weapon wielding ogres.

Right my point exactly. This leads me to wonder if part of the "fixing" needed for AoS is for us to think of the game a little differently. I do think there are flaws with the game, lack of a sophisticated, movement system is high on my list. However I am curious if part of the issue is trying to make the new like the old.

  4. So reading Nagash.....yeah, you think a Chaos Lord is broke. Nagash gets to cast 8 spells a turn until he suffers some wounds. He gets to add 3 to his casting rolls, so an average of 10. That means he'll get to summon 320 zombies in one turn, on average. Good thing he is only one model and one war scroll!

Just curious. Is some of the balance in this game suppose to be the ease at which things die? A Treeman has 12 wounds, which under the old system was devastating. Under this system, meh. My 9 man unit of Ironguts took it down in 1 round of combat. Nagash has 16 wounds. I can't imagine killing him would take more than a couple turns.

  5. Well I wanted to see what others are doing to try and fix the game but there are very few videos out there. And WarhammerT linked it first.

See how easy it was to throw WT under the bus.

Oh my back hurts! Well color me simple I like there batreps.

  6. Just as a heads up- Wednesday nights are 40k night at guardian games so it'll probably be pretty tight in there.

I really wanna give this game a try out as well.

Thanks for the heads up. I think we should be ok. It RC on Wed and GG on Thur.

  7. Guardian works best beacause I know the location; however, I could meet at either place. Let me know where you want to meet at. Also, how do you want to determine the size? I suggest limiting both sides to 100 wounds and this would include summoned units.

Guardian is closer to my job so let's run with that. How about 8 to 10 scrolls like Rcnjack is suggesting? Also what army do you play?

  8. Sounds good:)

Ill just bring my OnG moonclan, its got around 8 Warscrolls I think(2 are hidden fanatics)Should make for around a 2 hour game I think.

Wednesday around 6:00 gonna work for ya?

Sounds perfect! I am thinking High Elves (because I haven't played them) but we'll see how the spirit moves me.

  9. @Rcnjack I have a full Ogre army and a moderate number of High Elves. I have played a couple of times so feel comfortable enough with the rules to play a full sized game (whatever that means anymore). What do you think?

@MexicanNinja Like @dontpanic said its on Foster. I only picked that spot because its open late. I could also do Guardian Games if that works better.

  10. "GW had a guy camped out at the Forge World open day whos entire job was to answer questions and talk to people about Age of Sigmar. His entire job is to go to shows and talk to people about the new game. For the first time I think ever they’re taking Age of Sigmar to Gencon, Comic Con, all the major wargames conventions in Europe etc. They’re throwing a considerable amount of money at putting this in front of new audiences who have never played fantasy before. He was also brutally honest and didn’t dodge any questions and answered everything he could. I’ll start with the negative stuff first.

This is it. There categorically will not be a ‘9th’ edition of fantasy. Age of Sigmar is the only thing fantasy related GW will do for the considerable future.

He acknowledges that the ‘funny’ rules are rather silly and don’t make for a great intro to the system for new people. His response was that the armies in the box set don’t have the silly rules. They’re there as kind of a celebration and final send off of the old warhammer armies, and he said you might notice the new armies don’t have the stupid noises or imaginary friends. This is deliberate, its designed that you’ll only generally play the old stuff with your mates since it’s a bit embarassing to play in a public place.

The new races will look different to the old ones. Ooruks will not look the same as the orcs we currently have. As such, when they get round to releasing Ooruks, the old models will cease production. He did say that you can still use your old models as ooruks, but you won’t be able to buy normal orc boys again.

There will never be points values.

On to the slightly positive stuff then.

They are going to fully support all modes of play, and will be releasing rules to balance armies against each other. There will be narrative campaigns where your forces are picked for you for specific missions, and there will be a system for tournament players to balance lists that isn’t based on model count. He did not know the specifics of this, but said it is definitely coming.

The rules will always be free. He said that they are very very aware that fantasy had a massive buy in for someone to get started, as such the game was designed with the ability to play it with one box of models. There will be army books, but every rule in them will be available, for free, online. The books will just have extra background info and scenarios.

GW really are trying harder than they ever have before to make this work. If you’re at one of the shows go and talk to them. They want to talk to you about this, but especially they want your feedback on it. As he said, this is totally uncharted territory for them and they are totally open to rules revisions as they go.”
