Welcome! I hope to see you around the table. I would love the chance to fight some nids! :D

Oh goody! So I love the idea of the detachments here, and I appreciate the loss of the +1 to ion shield until you hit the 5 Knight level. Now to decide overwatch capabilities or objective secured...
I guess it would depend on the load out for the Knights, and if they can use multiple weapons during their overwatch. I mean if the Knights have flamers equipped, then I think overwatch might be a more solid option. But if not... then Objective Secured is super awesome. Especially on models with 12" movement.

I won't be getting my book until Saturday.

Woot! I actually really like these changes. It makes me want to build a three Knight roster even more. House Lyris (or other name to be decided later) shall stride to war! :D

Or maybe they make stuff because people want it? I know Ad Mech was selling well on FW. So it would only stand to reason that is they are selling so well at the premium market, then it might sell well as a "normal" faction. And they were right.
I mean, I am seriously confused by the GW fan community (I'm coming over from the Warmachine side of the hobby). Because so many seem to add a nefarious twist to "give the customer what they want".
Will it have a positive outcome on their bottom line? Maybe. But then again, they are running a business; not a charity.

I didn't see the video. I was responding to the post in this thread. For the most part I don't watch battle reports. The only ones I have enjoyed are MWGs Fantasy and 40K narrative battles.

It looks like they were having vehicles use Chapter Tactics. As far as I know, only the Iron Hands have a Chapter Tactic that effects vehicles. I don't think the special rule entries for vehicles in the Space Marine codex include Chapter Tactics.

Sometimes I feel that way. I mean, I bought the Imperial Knight codex when it first came out, and then got the A4 sized version at Christmas. Now I'm going to go pick up my 7th edition Imperial Knight codex this week. Holy cow! That on top of the seemingly back-to-back Mechanicus releases.
Luckily I feel pretty set with only the Skitarii book. But with all of these rapid fire releases, I never know what I want to be working on.
Too much awesome stuff. Hell of a problem to have.

I still don't understand why the Warden would be a LoW, it does not seem uber powerful compared with the other ones.
I only have the one Knight so I am excited about this new release. The ability to make a brand new Knight and upgrade my existing one seems pretty appealing. I do agree in a normal game of 40k 2000p or lower I think only one Knight makes sense and is fair.
I don't think having two or three Knights in an army is too terrible at below 2,000 points. As it stands right now (before the new codex drops) they don't have an answer to flying units, or horde infantry. I have lost a Knight in melee to Tao Fire Warriors. The little buggers come with haywire grenades. Throw enough of them and down goes a Knight. Sisters of Battle dropped my Knights in melee like chumps.
As for the tournament scene. It depends on what the new detachments are going to be. The White Dwarf from last week mentioned that there were going to be two new detachments: Household, and Oathsworn. So I would imagine that the detachments would likely get around the LoW rules, since the units would be purchased in the roster as part of a standard detachment rather than a separate force org slot.
But that is just my thinking.

I actually agree with the earlier statement that the Knight Warden might be the best solo Knight. I often include a single Knight with my Space Marine armies, and since the Warden is the same price as the current Paladin, I think it offers more as an ally than the two current Knights.

What about Stormravens? Could they transport a Dreadknight in their back claws?
-
Damn. I want them. Why do they have to keep coming out with awesome things I want to buy. :(

I tried the dip method on my Protectorate of Menoth army. I wasn't too happy with the results. But these look great! Keep up the great work! :)

Hey all!
I always thought that Dystopian Wars was a neat little game. However, I have no idea how popular it is in the Portland metro area. Is there a regular group of players?
-
Well I think I have the WD with the Knight Dueling rules in it laying around my basement somewhere. But I remember it was pretty neat and used playing cards.
Maybe something based on Mechwarrior would be appropriate?

Fair enough. I think if you look at this thread though, you'll see that it does matter. After all, how did this one start?
I'm not saying it doesn't matter to other people. However, I stayed out of the mix until GW posted the little teaser video on Youtube.
However, I would love it if GW would pull a move from Privateer Press's playbook and announce all the project releases for the next six months. That would allow me to plan out my hobby purchases and projects better. But that is just me.

Well personally, I don't worry about the rumors. My policy is: I don't believe until I see it in the White Dwarf, or on the website.

Am I the only one annoyed that now I have to get a new codex already to field my knight?
Well it looks like the full rules for the new Knights are going to be in the White Dwarf. So you should be able to use them with just that. And it doesn't look like there are any changes to rules attached to the armament of the current Knights.
So for the time being it doesn't look like the new codex is going to be a required purchase if you have the old codex. :)
Although I will be picking up the new data cards. They might be neat for when I want to run an all Imperial Knight army. :D

I am actually more excited for the new brushes than I am about the new Knight. But I am annoyed they are selling the plastic sculpting tool AFTER I bought the whole sculpting set for it. Grrr.... figures. lol.
-
Looks like someone is going to be buying their fourth Imperial Knight! :D

@Pretre: you quoted the GW web site as if cannon....
I still think Imperial knights should be 0-1 in events which limit LoWs. If you don't limit LoWs, then I have no qualms with the imperial knight armies.
If imperial knight armies start having trouble, there are loads of ways to buff them up. Typically knight lists are barely trying to make their super heavies broken.
Well is the Imperial Knights are being used as a LoW, then sure I think a limit of one would be fine. However, the Imperial Knights are an army all of their own; so to prohibit an entire faction from events is a little heavy handed IMO.

How bad is a Single Wraithknight when there are multiple Knights on the table? Like was said, just go light on the other things that are perceived as being OTT Aged Eldar Cheese. Give GW your money and use the models that make you happy. Hate every mother[big bad swear word]er that gets in your way.
Well I guess it would depend on how they run those multiple Imperial Knights. If I knew I was going up against a Wraith War Host, I would consider bringing three Knights in the Adamantine Lance formation. One of the Knights would be auto-upgraded to Seneschal, which would give it a 3++ Shield, and WS 5. I would also mark one of the Knights and state that it is "Gerantus" which would give it a 3++ shield, WS 5, and It Will Not Die. The Formation would allow both of them to re-roll failed saves.
That might be sturdy enough to give the Wraith War Host some trouble. But over all, I really think the the new Eldar codex is going to be very hard on vehicle based armies. It will be interesting to see how it deals with horde, and elite infantry armies.

Well there is Lost Hemisphere Radio. They are based around Warmachine, however, they have been adding more games to their podcast and spend a lot of time talking about the hobby side of the game.
-
I imagine they would release the full rules either in the White Dwarf, or in the kit (similar to my Glotkin). But considering the major changes to both the allies matrix, detachments, and the D tables presented in the current Imperial Knight codex, I don't think a new codex would be out of the question.
Imperial Knight Codex: Thoughts?

So I picked up the new codex, and data cards this weekend. I haven't had too much time to go through it, but from what I have gone through... I like it. The book expands a bit on the lore: less on the Knights as a whole it seems, but more on the individual houses, heroes, and the look of the Knights. It takes time to explain the Knight heraldry, and why the Knight houses are painted the way they are. This is something I really like, and wish had been in the first codex, as I would have incorporated this knowledge when I painted my Knights.
I like how they added in the three new Knight variants, and expanded the options for the two previous Knight models. I also really like how they made the Warlord traits something worth while this go around, and the heirlooms are super nice. I can see myself fielding a household detachments with a Banner alongside my Space Marines. I think it would be fun. :D
Getting rid of the randomly generated Knightly "ranks" in favor of one Knight getting a boost is an improvement. I disliked the idea that one of my Knights could randomly get weaker stats, but still cost the same. While I understand that I could just as likely get better stats and it would cost the same; it still felt more like a gamble rather than a fun bonus. But of course, that is how I felt rather than how other people may have felt.
The new objectives are neat, and I like them quite a bit. I think it would be a toss up between those, and the Skitarii cards when I field a combined Household/Skitarii army.
I think I would have liked to see a slight point reduction. Not as much as a Wraitknight, but somewhere along the lines of a Knight with one of the upgrades would have been the same cost as the old codex. But I can also see why that didn't happen, as the ability to field an army made up entirely of Super Heavies is huge. I guess this last point is something I'm going to have to mull over for a while over.
And most likely get in many more games before I decide one way or another.
What about you? Thoughts? Opinions?
